Chapter 11: Liz Encounters an Old Acquaintance, the Williams Temporary Camp
As the church continued to be repaired by the devoted believers—
The condition of Lynn’s Sanctuary itself gradually improved as well.
And this improvement brought about an unexpected gain!
Each time the believers prayed devoutly before the renewed altar—
The Holy Radiance flowing into Lynn’s consciousness increased!
From the initial 1 believer = 1 point of Holy Radiance, it became 1 believer = 2 points of Holy Radiance.

【Divine Grade: First-tier Sanctuary】
【Divine Art: Holy Protection Sigil】
【Sacred Relic: Holy Sword Durandal (Projection)】
【Holy Radiance: 868/∞】
Looking at the system panel, Lynn was deeply satisfied.
The threshold of advancement—1,000 points, which he faintly sensed—was not far away.
Once he reached the Second-tier Sanctuary—
He would undoubtedly gain greater power and be able to protect his followers even better.
As for Liz—
With the blessing of the legendary Holy Sword, she was like a tiger with wings!
Gradually, Liz no longer confined her movements to the outer edge of the Holy Light protection circle.
She began to take the initiative to venture deeper into the forest, seeking out and cleansing the wandering filth.
Her swordlight became the nightmare of ghouls.
Wherever she passed, only dissipating black smoke and peace remained.
That afternoon—
Following a strong stench of decay, Liz tracked it to a forested hollow.
Suddenly—
Her pupils contracted.
She saw seven or eight ragged, emaciated people—
Surrounded tightly by more than a dozen ghouls.
Their backs pressed against a huge boulder, they swung wooden sticks and rusted daggers in despair.
Their line of defense was on the verge of collapse.
“Hold on!”
Liz’s figure shot forward like lightning.
Durandal erupted in her hands with dazzling Holy Light, sweeping through as a streak of gold.
Shhh! Shhh! Shhh!
Where the Holy Light reached—
The ghouls screamed miserably, dissolving into black smoke.
The few remaining were swiftly slain by Liz’s precise and fierce swordsmanship.
The battle ended easily within a few breaths.
The survivors, who had narrowly escaped death, gasped for breath on the ground.
Their gazes toward Liz were filled with awe.
The leader, a man wearing broken glasses who looked scholarly and frail, struggled to his feet.
He bowed deeply toward Liz. “Th-thank you, noble Knight Lady! You saved our lives!”
Liz sheathed her sword and stood tall, the Holy Light retracting into the blade.
She looked at the dirt-covered man, her brows furrowing slightly.
Then, a flicker of surprise and uncertainty flashed in her eyes.
“You are… Colin?”
Liz called out tentatively, the name carrying a trace of long-lost familiarity.
Colin Gilbert raised his head in astonishment.
Through the cracked lenses, he carefully examined Liz’s smooth and youthful face.
The gratitude on his face was swiftly replaced by immense confusion. His lips trembled. “Honorable Knight Lady, you… you know me?”
“Forgive my poor memory, may I ask who you are?”
Liz laughed heartily, her laughter bright and clear.
“What, a few years pass and you can’t even recognize your big sister Liz’s voice?”
“Ah? Sister Liz?!” Colin was struck as if by lightning.
His body swayed, almost losing balance.
He stared at Liz’s face in disbelief.
The once weathered, scarred features—
Were now smooth, refined, brimming with heroic vigor.
Even more radiant than he remembered from her youth!
What shocked Colin even more was the surging sense of power emanating from her.
“Impossible… how could this be?”
Colin’s voice trembled with disbelief. “Sister Liz, your face, your scars, your strength… you clearly—”
He recalled the tragic scene when the Order of the Templar Knights was destroyed—
Liz’s dimmed Holy Light, her battered and broken body.
But now, the Liz before him—her wounds healed, her visage renewed—
Every movement exuded might and confidence.
She had clearly reached the level of a near Second-tier elite knight!
Seeing her old friend rendered speechless in shock, Liz’s smile faded. She spoke solemnly.
“It was the Lord Angel.”
“I found His Sanctuary, and received His protection and blessing.”
She pointed toward the direction of the church.
“Our camp is over there. Under the Lord Angel’s Holy Light, it’s safe for now.”
“Colin, bring your people and come with me. It’s much safer than out here.”
“Angel?”
The companions behind Colin were stunned, exchanging bewildered looks.
In this era where magicians rose, knights declined, and the faith of the old gods had long crumbled—
The word ‘angel’ sounded distant and unreal.
Only Colin’s eyes flickered with a hint of emotion.
To meet his caring Sister Liz again—
And to learn that she had found such a miracle and a place of safety—
This was nothing short of a great blessing!
However, just then—
A weather-beaten man behind Colin hesitated before speaking.
“Lady Liz, thank you for saving us.”
“But, but I heard that Lord Williams—though he didn’t open the city gates for us refugees—”
“He did set up a temporary camp not far from the gates to shelter those fleeing from Florence.”
“They say he even provides free porridge every day…”
The man and the others licked their cracked lips.
Their eyes reflected longing—for order and for free food.
“And besides, there are too many ghouls in this forest. We thought we’d try our luck there.”
“Yeah, your camp may be safe, but it can’t last forever. Why don’t you come with us, Lady Knight?”
Some sly ones even wanted to trick Liz into becoming their free escort.
“Williams’s temporary camp? Free porridge?”
Hearing that, Liz’s brows furrowed deeply.
She found it hard to believe.
She knew too well the nature of those nobles!
Before Florence’s fall—
Baron Gregor had also pretended to distribute porridge, but behind it lay deeper exploitation and extortion!
And as for Lord Williams’s reputation—
He was no better than Gregor.
For him to suddenly open a camp to shelter refugees at such a time—
It could only mean trouble!
“Colin!”
Liz turned to her old acquaintance, her tone grave. “Trust me, that place might not be safe.”
“Come back with me to the church. Under the protection of the Lord Angel, we can survive.”
Colin’s expression was torn.
The Williams camp did sound more official—
A lord’s name, guards, food provisions...
But Sister Liz’s transformation was undeniable!
If what she said about the angel’s blessing was true, then it was indeed a miraculous chance—
After all, Colin was merely an ordinary scholar without magical talent.
