Chapter 239: The dude everyone wants
Sky leaned in, his lips brushing Chris’s ear. "You’re distracted." His voice was a low purr, a dangerous challenge.
"You’re... doing that on purpose," Chris accused, his voice thick. His hands, still on Sky’s waist, tightened, pulling him even closer, if that were possible.
Sky briefly bit down his lip and then chuckled, a low, satisfied sound against Chris’s ear before he nipped lightly at the lobe. "Maybe." His hand, which had been stroking Chris’s neck, began a slow descent, tracing the line of his collarbone, then lower, towards his chest.
Chris’s breath hitched. He watched Sky’s hand with hooded eyes, a mixture of anticipation and raw desire warring in his gaze.
"When did you know?" Sky whispered, his fingers finally reaching Chris’s nipple, circling it lightly.
Chris’s body shuddered. "Know what?" His voice was strained, hoarse.
Sky leaned back just enough for their eyes to meet, his expression serious now, a flicker of that underlying insecurity returning. "That... you liked guys."
Okay... that came out of nowhere.
"I... don’t know? It’s not like there was a moment. It’s just... been."
Sky’s jaw tightened almost imperceptibly. His thumb, still circling Chris’s nipple, pressed a little harder. "So you just... saw guys you liked? From the start?" A hint of jealousy, sharp and unexpected, laced his tone. He envisioned Chris having a history of crushes, of attractions he, Sky, had never experienced.
Chris frowned, sensing the shift. "It’s not like that. It’s just... a feeling. Always there." He paused, searching Sky’s eyes. "Why?"
Sky didn’t answer directly. Instead, he leaned down, his teeth gently scraping Chris’s collarbone. Then he bit down, not hard enough to hurt, but enough to send a jolt through Chris’s entire body. Chris let out a sound that surprised even himself, his hips instinctively thrusting up as he pulled Sky down on him, making the impact more intense.
Sky ground himself in, stopping Chris from rocking them both. He pulled back and looked at Chris’s eyes.
Chris stared back at him, his face completely flushed, and breathing ragged.
"You’re... t-thinking t-oo much," Chris managed to gasp out, his hands moving to grip Sky’s thighs, trying to regain some semblance of control.
"I hope." Sky leaned in, capturing Chris’s mouth in a demanding kiss. He humped down, once, twice, the friction sending sparks through them both. He felt Chris’s powerful response beneath him, hard and insistent.
Sky shifted slightly, a faint smile playing on his lips as he pulled back and looked at Chris. "You make the stupidest faces when you’re turned on."
Chris stirred, his voice muffled. "Excuse me?"
Sky raised an eyebrow, a teasing glint in his eyes. "Like you’re surprised every time I kiss you. It’s almost cute."
Chris groaned, a low, rumbling sound, and shoved him playfully. "Don’t be stupid." He chuckled, a genuine, easy sound. "But well, I mean... it’s you. Can’t blame me."
Sky’s smile faltered slightly, a flicker of that underlying insecurity he tried so hard to hide. "And what about me?"
Chris rolled his eyes, though a soft warmth bloomed in his chest. "Do you really want me to spell it out to massage your ego?"
"Yes." Sky’s answer was immediate, firm, a challenge wrapped in vulnerability.
Chris sighed, a playful exasperation. "So... it’s you. Sky Sato. The dude everyone wants."
"So... you’re flattered I want you?" Sky pressed, a faint blush creeping onto his cheeks despite his attempt at bravado.
Chris chuckled, a deep, warm sound that made Sky’s stomach flutter. "Well, when you put it like that..."
Sky’s gaze softened, his thumb brushing lightly over Chris’s jaw. The teasing faded, replaced by something far more earnest. "You are too precious to have a low self-esteem."
Chris blinked, caught off guard. "Eh?"
"What I said." Sky repeated, his eyes serious, vulnerable. "I don’t know what happened to you that you think you do not deserve someone being crazy about you, but you are all it, Christopher Owen." He leaned down and placed a brief, tender peck on Chris’s lips. "I wouldn’t love you if you—"
Sky froze.
Chris felt Sky stiffen, the sudden cessation of movement jarring considering what they were currently up to. His eyes, which had been soft and dazed from pleasure, snapped into focus.
"W-What?" Chris asked, his voice barely a whisper, a strange mix of disbelief and hope.
Sky’s eyes were wide, blinking rapidly, as if he’d just woken from a dream. "What?"
"Eh?" Chris echoed, trying to process the word, the confession, that hung heavy in the air.
"Eh!?" Sky responded, his own voice rising in pitch, a panicked squeak. It was as if what he’d said, the unspoken, raw emotion that had slipped past his carefully constructed defenses, had just fully registered.
His eyes darted around the room, then back to Chris, pure, unadulterated horror dawning on his face. He flinched, then practically jumped off Chris’s lap, scrambling backward on the bed until he was almost pressed against the headboard. The awkwardness was thick enough to cut with a knife, radiating from him in palpable waves.
"O-okay...?" Chris said, utterly at a loss for what to say, still half-dazed from the abrupt shift. And that seemed like just the complete worse thing to say in this moment, the banality of it only amplifying Sky’s panic.
Sky’s eyes were wide, trapped, looking anywhere but at Chris. His chest was heaving, not from exertion now, but from sheer, unadulterated panic. "I... I need to check on my friends." He practically bolted off the bed, fleeing towards the door.
Chris watched him go, a bewildered mix of shock and a sudden, overwhelming warmth spreading through his chest. Sky... Sky loved him? The thought, stumbled upon and abandoned so clumsily, resonated with a profound certainty.
Was he surprised? No and yes.
No, because it was clear. Sky’s possessiveness, jealousy, I mean, even coming here for him made it clear that Sky liked him to an extent.
And why was he surprised? Because it was Sky. Sky lived in his head. His words were always calculated. To having the "L" word slip out like that, which had caused him great panic, shows how comfortable Sky was now with him.
Sky really, truly, liked him more than he had ever dared to imagine.
He fell back on the bed, staring blankly like an idiot with a smile on his face.
He sat up instantly.
Now, where the hell was his phone?
He had to check properly online for some newlywed homes.
