Chapter 245

Chapter 245: I love you
Their lips met. Firm. Unhesitating. A punctuation after hours of tension, of anticipation, of unspoken needs and whispered desires. Chris stiffened, surprised, but didn’t pull away. The urgency was raw, desperate, unrelenting, and it scorched both of them in the quiet of the dressing room. His grip tightened around Chris’s waist as if trying to anchor him, to make sure no one else could see, could touch, could imagine.
When they finally pulled back, foreheads resting together, breath hot and uneven, Sky’s voice came low, harsh. "I won’t... tell you not to... walk out there looking like this."
Chris blinked, dazed, steady, a teasing lilt creeping in. "Like what? Like myself?"
"Like temptation," Sky whispered, the word cracking, betraying the vulnerability he fought to keep in check. He swallowed hard, trying not to sound like the mess of jealousy and possessiveness rising in him. "You don’t see it, do you? How people will look at you. What they’ll think. What they’ll want."
Chris’s smile softened, almost knowing, tender. "And you think I’d let them have me?"
"That’s not the point," Sky muttered, fists clenching at his sides before rising again to tug Chris closer by the lapels. "...The point is I don’t want them to even imagine it."
Chris tilted his head, a flicker of warmth beneath his calm gaze. "So you want me to only look like this for you?"
"Yes," Sky said immediately, the word raw, jagged, absolute.
For a moment, silence stretched between them. Not awkward. Just heavy. Charged.
They were still staring at each other when Chris noticed it... something off in Sky’s eyes.
The intensity wasn’t just possessive anymore. It was raw. Vulnerable. Then he saw it. Fuck. Sky was about to cry.
It wasn’t dramatic. Just quiet. Controlled. But the tears were there, clinging to his lashes, threatening to fall, threatening to shatter the air between them.
Sky turned away fast, swiping at his face with the back of his hand like he could erase the moment before Chris saw too much. But Chris was already moving. Chris caught him before he could retreat completely.
"Hey... hey..." he said gently, catching Sky’s wrist before he could retreat further. He guided him to the chair tucked in the corner of the dressing room and eased him down. Then Chris crouched in front of him, blazer brushing the floor, lace catching the light like it had no idea what kind of moment it had just walked into.
Sky kept his gaze down, refusing to meet him. Even when Chris cupped his face, thumbs brushing softly against cheekbones, he refused to yield.
"What is it?" Chris asked, voice low, steady. "Talk to me."
Sky’s throat moved, tight. His hands shook slightly. "I..." His fingers brushed against the necklace again, then across Chris’s chest. "...I hate myself sometimes."
Chris’s brow furrowed. "What?"
"I hate... feeling like this. Jealous. Weak. Obsessed," Sky admitted, voice quiet, almost ashamed. "I always end up doing that. I—" He stopped, chest rising sharply. "...I don’t know."
Chris’s hands found his shoulders, grounding him. "Hey! You are forbidden from hating the people I like. Including yourself." His eyes softened, glinting with warmth, with the same mischievous glint he’d always had. "You remember that?"
Sky’s lips twitched, a small laugh escaping despite the weight in his chest. Sky remembered. It was the same words he had used for Chris back then when they were still doing their play-flirting around in school. "I remember." He said in a low voice.
"You were annoying back then," Chris murmured, smiling softly.
Sky sniffed, half-laughing, half-miserable. "I just... hate how I get. I see you. See... something not even serious and I start to panic. Like I’m about to lose something. I’m usually... not like this. I swear."
He buried his face in his palms, trying to quell the flare of heat in his neck, the vulnerability he hadn’t expected to show.
"Look at me." Chris said softly.
Sky didn’t move.
"I said look at me."
Sky slowly raised his gaze, their eyes locking.
"I love you," Chris whispered.
Sky’s chest constricted, breath caught, words lost somewhere between disbelief and a bigger DISBELIEF.
"...Are you... sure?" he managed, voice barely above a whisper. Doubt clung to the question like a shadow.
Chris let out a soft, low chuckle, brushing a strand of Sky’s hair from his forehead. "What kind of silly question is that?" His eyes twinkled, amused but steady. "Do you really think I’d say it if I wasn’t sure? Sky... everyone knows I’m sure as hell."
Sky’s hands trembled as they lifted to his hair, threading through it, anchoring himself in this reality. "I," he breathed, laughing shakily. "... I won’t let you take it back."
Chris’s smile softened, warmth spreading through him. He leaned closer, resting his forehead against Sky’s. "Chill."
But there was no chilling for Sky.
"Promise me," Sky whispered, voice unsteady. "...Promise me you won’t ever take it back. That you mean it."
"I promise," Chris said, unwavering. Hands cupped Sky’s face, thumbs tracing gentle lines over his cheekbones. "So be good. No more freak outs and insecurity, okay?"
Sky was still looking at him intensely like he didn’t believe him. But his chest lifted with a shaky laugh, relief mingling with heat. "...I will try." He said quietly. "If... if you tried to take it back... I’d—" His words caught, lips pressed together to stop the panic, the possessive surge, the need to claim him in some permanent, unshakable way. "...I’d never forgive you."
Chris chuckled, brushing his nose against Sky’s, and Sky melted into him, hands tangling in hair, heart beating impossibly fast.
"I hear you." Chris said quietly.
They stayed like that. And then Sky crashed and just embraced him.
Very tight.
"When we return to school, would you... like to meet my godmother?" Sky asked in a gentle tone like he knew Chris would say yes but was not also sure.
"You know I’d say yes." Chris said, hugging him back.
"For now... you need to prepare yourself to meet my parents again."
