Chapter 1892

Chapter 1892: Chapter 1892: Side Effects
Natural Juan paused, immediately turned around to look, only to find a few players standing in the transition carriage, all eyes fixed on them.
"My potion may not be real, but your wealth is something you admit yourself." Xu Huo smiled slightly, wanting to say something else, when he realized he’d reached his stop, his vision blurred, and he found himself at the station in Zone 011.
The timing was just right.
The station in Zone 011 was still bustling as ever, with many players coming and going. He hadn’t been gone long, and the city was currently heavily promoting the selection contest for the city image ambassador.
"Sir, pay attention to the image ambassador selection contest," the staff smiled, handing him a small electronic flyer, lightly pressing it, "The contest’s participation method and voting method are on here. If you want to know anything else, you can contact the organizer’s promotional team using the contact info provided."
Xu Huo boarded the aircraft and glanced at the contest rules.
This year’s selection contest was contracted out by Zone 011 to private enterprises. The ambassador selection scope was wide, allowing both players and regular people, with appearance requirements only being dignified features and not needing exceptional looks. What’s important is having charisma and appearing positive and upbeat.
Participation could be individual or through company or organization nomination, with no restrictions on identity or origin. Once chosen as an image ambassador, one is eligible for generous rewards offered by the district government and organizers. Besides money and status, Outer Zone people can choose to settle here, while players can receive props, and those selected only need to take on one task—cooperate with Zone 011’s activities, shooting promotional videos, or attending various events. There’s even a detailed work schedule stamped by the district government beforehand, ensuring no exploitation by the organizers.
This organizer seems to have often handled such events before, having a great reputation in Zone 011, making it another event causing nationwide excitement.
It was evident that Zone 011 had put considerable effort into restoring the district government’s image in people’s minds after the previous zone warfare.
The vehicle soon arrived at Rose Castle, where the Girl in the painting, playing in the garden, ran up to him before even Mr. Dong could, joyfully showing him the flower wreath she just braided.
"Beautiful." Xu Huo nodded, handing the electronic flyer to Mr. Dong, asking, "Has the guest left?"
"Already left," Mr. Dong replied, "He also left a message from Miss Bai Kou saying there’ll be no next time."
Xu Huo smiled indifferently and upon entering saw Dr. Deng about to turn around.
"At this time, having breakfast?" Xu Huo greeted proactively.
Dr. Deng, with dark circles under his eyes, retorted irritably, "You only walked away for a few days and are already back, so it seems the instance in Zone 010 isn’t that challenging."
Time units differ between zones, with Xu Huo having gone to zones where time advances faster than at the E27 Wormhole Point, making him feel he’d spent considerable time in Zone 010, though only a short duration passed in Zone 011.
"It’s not really hard," Xu Huo said sincerely, "If not for you, I wouldn’t have cleared it that quickly."
Dr. Deng was momentarily speechless, then asked, "Did you bring back the minerals I asked you to?"
Xu Huo nodded, "Before leaving, the people of 011 gifted me plenty, including minerals as well as their research materials on numbered aliens from the past twenty years, and I even brought back an alien."
Dr. Deng swallowed the water in his mouth and promptly intervened, "You can’t shove all work onto me in one breath, there should be priorities. Decide first, should we research Gene Potions, or poison and antitoxins, or aliens?"
Xu Huo didn’t answer him but said, "Let me sleep first, we’ll talk once I wake up."
Dr. Deng choked on his words, forced to glare at Xu Huo indignantly, "Even working for Stellar Medical wasn’t this arduous."
"The able should do more," Xu Huo remarked slowly, going upstairs.
After a quick wash in his room, he first contacted Bai Kou and "Eating Three Bowls of Rice Every Meal" to thank them, then lay down to rest.
Having not properly rested for a long time, Xu Huo slept until the afternoon of the next day, so overwhelmed by fatigue that he didn’t notice the Girl in the painting had sneaked into his room, when he opened his eyes realized she’d pulled a chair up and been sitting by his bed for some time.
"When did you come? Why didn’t you knock?" He sat up, feeling a bit dizzy, rubbing his temples vigorously.
"Are you ill?" the Girl in the painting held up a communicator, concernedly asking, "Do you want medicine?"
"Medicine for what?" Xu Huo looked at her suspiciously.
Only then did the Girl in the painting recall the small backpack she carried, spilling a heap of medicine onto the bed with a clatter.
Xu Huo glanced down for a second, "Your hobbies change rather swiftly."
But the Girl in the painting explained it wasn’t her hobby, the reason being Xiao Yuan had been sick a few days ago. Seeing Mr. Dong and Tan Qi prepare medicine, and Xiao Yuan, talking was difficult while bedridden, recovered immediately upon taking medicine, it made her realize she should prepare some.
When Xu Huo returned yesterday, both children were at school, so he was unaware of Xiao Yuan’s illness.
Mr. Dong soon came upstairs, explaining the cause and effect of Xiao Yuan’s sickness, mainly due to a practical class she attended at school, catching a chill in the garden while drawing star positions at night, with a slight fever, rested for two days and was fine, not a major issue.
The reason the Girl in the painting prepared so much medicine was after hearing during the check-up that children are very fragile, especially those barely evolved might die from a minor illness.
She had no concept of illness but knew medicine could cure illnesses, so she spent a sum on the doctor’s reserved pharmaceuticals as he left, now all placed before Xu Huo.
Spotting stimulants inside, Xu Huo handed all medicines to Mr. Dong to dispose of.
The Girl in the painting wasn’t easily fooled, casually grabbing two bottles, spilling a handful trying to feed Xu Huo.
Xu Huo promptly stopped her, "I’m not sick."
Disappointed slightly, the Girl in the painting stuffed the mixed pills back into the medicine bottles.
Turning to Mr. Dong, Xu Huo said, "From now on, check anything she gives the kids orally thoroughly."
In the reluctant gaze of the Girl in the painting, Mr. Dong took all the medicine bottles away.
After having some simple fare, Xu Huo logged onto Beneath the Dimension to check messages. "Eating Three Bowls of Rice Every Meal" briefly replied with just "No need to thank", while Bai Kou showed no signs.
His gaze paused on the interface for a moment, then he switched to searching on Beneath the Dimension for information related to "predicting" the future.
