Volume 6 Chapter 39: I Will Have Monopoly
The incident ended with the combined efforts of Chuck and the Dwarven King’s army, who organized a counterattack.
No wonder they are trained regular troops.
Once they donned their Steam Motion Armor, their combat prowess was remarkable.
When individual combat power forms a group, combined with formations and Strategic-level magic, the rampaging Steam Motion Armor was quickly taken down.
In just half a day, all the occupied mountains were reclaimed.
Let’s talk about Strategic-level magic.
Strategic-level magic generally refers to large-scale magic, roughly divided into offensive, defensive, and support types.
For instance, the heat ray attack of Obelisk is an offensive type of Strategic-level magic.
Strategic-level magic usually requires multiple magic practitioners to perform (or with special mediums like Obelisk’s equipment).
In other words, Strategic-level magic is rarely seen in normal individual battles.
Although, recently, I’ve seen various monsters (yes, including those reincarnated minecraft mobs) who seem to casually use such levels of magic!?
I feel like I’ve been dragged into a terrifying world. Oh my god!
This battle resulted in considerable casualties and economic losses.
However, since the main economic facilities weren’t severely damaged and given the deep foundation of the Dwarven Empire, the aftermath of this incident isn’t fatal.
They can recover after a few years of recuperation.
The person I rescued from Obelisk was treated for injuries and given some [Milk].
After extracting some information, I handed him over to the regular troops.
I’ll elaborate on this later; it’s not a big problem.
The only potential issue is the purple sun, which has now fallen into the underground sea.
The dwarves’ spiritual belief has been struck down… I’m not sure what repercussions this will have, but that’s not my concern.
Anyway, the god’s injuries have been treated with my potion.
Although this sleepy god shows no signs of waking up, the situation has stabilized.
I’ll ask the Vassal of The Earth for her thoughts once she returns.
That’s the summary of the final battle. Now, let’s talk about my current situation.
– Night at the Steel Iron Fortress + King's Palace –
In the magnificent palace, two bronze pillars support the hall.
At the deepest part of the purple carpet, a golden gear-encrusted, jewel-adorned throne sits.
Dwarf King Gur Barlow, dressed in uniquely styled but noble attire, stands before the throne.
He raises a short spear high, drawing a strange rune in the air before gently placing the spear on my kneeling figure.
“…I hereby declare, Walson Barlow, son of John Barlow, returns to the royal family, inheriting the title of prince, and bathes in the grace of Tuwak.” The spear lightly touches my head as the dwarf king announces.
I stand, turn around, extend my left hand to the side, place my right hand on my chest, bow, and salute the dwarf elders in the banquet hall.
Finally, under their watchful eyes, I sit next to Chuck’s seat, raise my glass, and shout.
“I, Walson Barlow, as prince, toast to everyone present.”
With my voice, the unique music of the dwarves begins, lively and joyous.
The dwarves, passionate about drinking, start singing and shouting, celebrating the end of this incident and the new future of the country.
At the height of the banquet, not used to such occasions, I wander alone to the top floor of the king’s fortress, enjoying the breeze and overlooking the underground city.
What a magnificent place, though a bit stuffy.
“Hey, Prince. How are you feeling?” A voice comes from behind.
It’s none other than Chuck, dressed in a purple suit.
“Besides the clothes being heavy and tight, no issues.” I turn around, spreading my hands, also wearing a matching purple suit.
And so, I’ve become a prince, and Tanaya a princess.
I’ve boarded a ship I can’t get off…
During the banquet, the dwarf king asked if I would stay in the city. I declined, stating I have a family outside and would only visit occasionally.
The king’s question seemed casual but implied if I wanted to participate in politics… Hell no! If I had said yes, not only might I be trapped here, but it could also cause a power struggle.
Although I excluded myself from power, being made a prince allows me access to city resources due to my merits and unparalleled technology.
My achievements include disabling Obelisk and donating the Liberty Babie to the nation (it’s too big for me to move anyway).
Thanks to this ceremony, my name will spread, and the dwarves will gladly trade with me.
As for technology, I bet they will study Liberty Babie!
Don’t underestimate the dwarves; they’ll figure something out eventually.
By then, I can sell them redstone.
Although the key material for degraded redstone is easy to obtain, the crucial steps involve Minecraft’s crafting table and furnace, meaning I still monopolize this technology!
With the Dwarven Empire as a powerful ally, releasing some technology makes it less likely for trouble to find me.
“Haha, you’ll get used to the clothes.” Chuck laughs.
“That’s good to hear. How’s it going on your end?” I ask.
Earlier, Chuck had a brief private conversation with the king.
“Oh, that.” Chuck laughs and leans on the railing with me. “You know I have the rank of an A-rank adventurer, but that’s probably done for now.”
Chuck doesn’t answer directly.
“Why?” I ask.
“I have to start classes and learn a lot.”
“Learn what?”
“To be a king,” Chuck says.
“…”
“Funny, the thing I dreamed of achieving is now happening like this.” Chuck laughs sentimentally. “It feels like a dream.”
“A dream…”
“So, Walson, my friend, I know this started as a transaction, but I still need to thank you. Thank you so much.” Chuck pats my shoulder. “Now, before I become king, I’ll make one last promise.”
“I will always be your friend. This country will always welcome you and be your backing. If you face difficulties…” Chuck pauses, “I’ll fight for you with all my might.”
Silence follows, broken by me.
“Hey, Chuck, want to have another drink?”
“Hahaha, a toast to our friendship?”
“Yeah, to friendship.”
