Volume 6 Chapter 43: End Of Another Journey
What once seemed like a stable situation quickly turned dire upon learning the information related to the Hero King Alwin.
Inside an inconspicuous hill, a heavy door, covered in years of dust, slowly opened, revealing the place where the dwarves had sealed their history for over a hundred years.
As the torches were lit, the interior structure of the building came into view: a ceiling supported by four stone pillars and a small stone monument.
Radiating from this monument were intricate and esoteric magical patterns covering the floor.
"Walson, my young friend, I've always had my suspicions, but I never thought you had such a... mysterious and significant responsibility," said Chuck.
"Responsibility, huh? To be honest, I don't feel like I've been very responsible," I shrugged. "I don't have the temperament or the strength for it. But still, I want to protect those around me."
As I spoke, I walked up to the massive stone monument.
Grace, always fascinated by anything magical, was already examining the runes.
"Grace, what do you think?"
"...It's hard to tell at a glance, but this seems to be a directional long-distance teleportation spell," Grace said, brushing dust from the floor. "It's very old, though. I don't know if it still works."
"Chuck, is this reliable?" Belle asked, arms crossed, looking at Chuck.
"How would I know? This is pre-founding relics. If you weren't in such a hurry, I wouldn't recommend using it," Chuck retorted, glaring at Belle. "But it doesn't look damaged, and the magical power supply device seems fine. It should work."
This really doesn't sound reliable.
Present were my wives, Zakarina, Belle, Alice, Tanaya, Mischievous Darkstar, and Rifle.
The reason we all gathered here is because of the urgent situation.
According to Zakarina, Herobrine could reach the elven empire in as soon as three days.
If that's true, we wouldn't make it in time even if we left immediately.
So, Chuck brought us here after I explained everything to him.
The Hall of Farewell, constructed back at the founding of the kingdom, was a place of secret rendezvous between the first Dwarf King and the first Elven Queen.
Despite the heavy blockade of the Dying Steel Citadel, this hall provided a secret passage straight to the capital of the Elven Empire, Carmel.
Love truly is powerful.
"Unfortunately, the elven empire later destroyed the receiving facility," Chuck said.
Although Chuck didn't say it outright, there must be an old story behind this—a typical tale of betrayal and love, otherwise, why would this place be named the Hall of Farewell?
"You said the receiving facility was destroyed. Can this still be used?"
"It's okay if it’s destroyed," Chuck shrugged. "In theory, if the receiving facility is destroyed, the teleportation array will stop at the border's teleportation barrier. You can walk in from there. Three days is tight, but you can make it."
"You have a point," Zakarina nodded.
"…Feasible. I just checked," Grace stood up. "It can work, theoretically."
I'm not sure what she did, but the magical patterns on the ground started glowing blue.
Seeing this, my wives, Alice, and the others gathered their belongings and stepped onto the illuminated area.
As soon as they did, their bodies started glowing as well.
"It seems it's time to say goodbye," I said, looking at my glowing hand.
"I'll handle things for you here," Chuck said. "But remember to come back."
"I will, I will. I've left some things with Grace here. I'll come back when this is over," I shrugged helplessly as the strong light blurred my vision and the sound of wind filled my ears. "After all, I am a prince."
"Haha, alright. We didn't have the chance this time, but next time you come, I'll take you to drink our most popular spirits."
"No way! I already got scolded by my wives for drinking your liquor!" I laughed, waving my hand. "Goodbye, Chuck."
Finally, with a "Goodbye, brother," lingering in my ears, my vision went blank.
The journey in the Empire of The Dwarves, Mahamatra, came to an end.
