Master, What Dao Do You Cultivate?-Chapter 33: The Human Body's Weaknesses

Chapter 33

Hearing Master’s voice, Yu Ye was momentarily stunned. She turned her head in disbelief—and sure enough, that familiar handsome face was there, smiling as always.
“Mas... Master, you’re back.”
Mad Ye: Deadbeat, you actually remembered to come back~
“Mhm. Now explain to me—what do you mean by ‘realistic’?”
“Uh... your disciple just thought... just thought he didn’t quite hit the mark, that’s all.”
Seeing Yu Ye both thrilled and a little flustered as she explained, Ji Qinglin didn’t expose her in front of others. He simply lifted her baseball cap slightly and flicked her nose with a finger.
“You, huh~”
The Coal Boss had great timing too, leaping straight onto Yu Ye’s shoulder, nuzzling her soft cheek and sniffing the scent of the beloved bird he hadn’t seen in days.
Caw—
Ji Qinglin turned to Ji Congliang and asked in a tone fitting a teacher:
“Congliang, is hitting on fellow disciples and insulting your elders also part of the curriculum?”
Ji Congliang originally wanted to say something nice about Ji Qinglin, hoping both sides could give each other an out and let the matter pass. But he hadn’t expected Ji Qinglin to actually pursue the question. He thought to himself—don’t you know your own worth, kid?
Still, Ji Qinglin was a Commerce Guild Elder and had a good relationship with the President. Ji Congliang didn’t want to completely fall out with him, so he could only brush it off:
“Elder, I meant no offense, I just felt that...”
Whoosh—
Before Ji Congliang could finish, he saw Ji Qinglin’s body blur forward like an illusion, ghostly shadows trailing behind him. Just as he wondered if he was hallucinating, Ji Qinglin had already appeared silently right in front of him.
Startled, Ji Congliang stumbled back several steps, bumping into the wall again.
“E-Elder, you...”
Ji Qinglin dropped his smile and stared coldly at Ji Congliang, enunciating each word:
“Not wanting to make a move and being unable to are two different things. Don’t wait until you're dead to say I didn’t warn you. Next time, it won’t be Yu Ye who takes action.”
Looking into those eyes—eyes he’d only seen on death row inmates—Ji Congliang shook his head hard to make sure this wasn’t a hallucination. Slowly, he came back to his senses.
That eerie movement technique—not even Yu Jizi could pull it off. He suddenly realized why this young man had become an elder so early, and why, back at the dinner table, the President had immediately scolded him over just one rude comment.
He’d heard rumors before: the Commerce Guild needed both face and force. Besides the ceremonial “Twin Blossom Red Poles” for appearances, there were hidden protectors who dealt with threats silently. Could it be...
The more he thought about it, the more it fit. The more he thought about it, the more scared he became. Ji Congliang hurriedly bowed and said:
“I spoke out of turn—please forgive me, Elder!”
Ji Qinglin had even pulled up Beidou Maps, preparing to dodge or counter if this guy attacked. But seeing him cave instantly, Ji Qinglin didn’t dig deeper. He just turned away and said coolly:
“Fine. No need for Zilong Peak to bother with the transmission of techniques. My disciple and I have matters to discuss, so we won’t be keeping you for dinner.”
Ji Congliang was just glad he wasn’t getting silenced. He quickly nodded and turned to make a hasty escape from the alley.
Yu Ye had long estimated her Master’s strength, so her reaction wasn’t as exaggerated as Ji Congliang’s. But that ghostly movement technique still took her by surprise.
Yu Ye: I’ve seen high-level movement techniques before—fast as the wind, silent steps... but dragging ghost shadows too? You kidding me?
Mad Ye: Don’t know this one? It’s called “the body runs ahead, the soul chases behind.”
Yu Ye ignored Mad Ye’s nonsense and walked forward to ask:
“Master, is it really okay to show your power in front of a petty guy like that? I thought you always preferred keeping a low profile.”
“It’s fine. No one would believe him anyway. So, Yu Ye, have you been properly practicing your foundation techniques at home?”
Yu Ye snorted lightly at his words, the corners of her lips curving upward, her almond eyes full of pride. She raised her hand:
“Master, want to give it a try?”
Ji Qinglin nodded slightly and pulled out the remote control for the restraint collar from his pocket, poised like he was about to press it.
“Try? Sure, let’s try.”
“Hey hey hey! Master! Don’t! Can’t you be serious?”
Mad Ye: I like it when he’s not serious. If you don’t want him, I’ll take him.
Yu Ye: Sit your *ss down!
Mad Ye: Tch. You’re a repressed, horny hypocrite.
Ji Qinglin didn’t tease Yu Ye further and instead asked with a smile:
“By the way, Yu Ye, do you know how to ride? The powerful kind.”
“You mean a motorcycle?”
“Uh... something like that.”
As he spoke, Ji Qinglin wheeled out the old three-wheeled cart crammed with study materials from the corridor.
Yu Ye: You call this ‘something like that’?
Mad Ye: Pfft. You don’t even need to rob anyone for that. I bet the junk seller who hasn’t shown up these past few days didn’t come because your Master stole his cart.
Yu Ye: Maybe Master just spends his money where it counts. I’ll earn money in the future and buy him a proper ride.
Thinking that, she stepped forward to help Master push the cart inside—but Ji Qinglin stopped her:
“There’s too much stuff on this one. Push the one in the back.”
“The back?”
Yu Ye walked back a few steps and saw, hidden in the shadows at the corner of the alley, the Night Owl 750 reflecting faint starlight. The entire vehicle looked like it had been carved from a single piece of obsidian.
Yu Ye: That’s... Night Owl! Where’d Master get this?
Mad Ye: Judging by how new it looks, I’d believe it if you said he jacked it from a dealership.
Yu Ye, full of shock and curiosity, pushed the Night Owl 750 into the shop. She thought—only a few days passed, and Master said he was in seclusion... does he have another hideout? Did this bike come from there?
“Master, is it okay if someone sees this bike?”
Sensing that Yu Ye was worried the bike might have a shady origin, Ji Qinglin picked up a stack of books and walked upstairs:
“Relax. It’s clean. Nothing to hide. Help me bring these to the bedroom.”
After parking the bike, Yu Ye carried several neatly stacked books and followed him. The top one was titled
The Human Body’s Weaknesses
—judging by the name, maybe it analyzed meridians, acupoints, and other weak spots in the body.
Curious, Yu Ye flipped it open casually—only to find an illustration of a young woman in nothing but sheer lingerie, while a hand outside the frame was very gentlemanly pointing out the “weak spots” on her body.
Mad Ye: Whoa, detailed stuff. Wanna try it sometime...?
Yu Ye quickly snapped the book shut, face flushed, and continued upstairs with the books in her arms.
Why did Master bring back so many of
these
kinds of books?
Mad Ye: Because you’re a dumb disciple who doesn’t throw herself into his arms—so he has to study theory and relieve boredom by himself.
Yu Ye: Master doesn’t seem like that kind of guy. Last time I passed out from herbal meds, he didn’t even...
Mad Ye: Maybe he thinks unconscious girls aren’t fun.
Yu Ye: That’s enough out of you!
Ji Qinglin carried the books back to the bedroom and found that Yu Ye had already cleaned it up. A faint fragrance still lingered in the room.
Yu Ye, trying to act curious, asked:
“Master, what kind of books are these?”
“Erotic books.”
Mad Ye: Direct much? I’ve never seen someone so brazenly shameless.
Seeing Yu Ye’s weird expression, Ji Qinglin figured the little rascal was definitely overthinking again and explained:
“There might be cultivation techniques hidden in these books. I didn’t have time to go through them all, so I brought them back. If you’ve got time, you can help me flip through and see if anything stands out.”
“Oh, I see.”
Knowing Master was always serious when it came to cultivation, Yu Ye actually took out a few books that night and read them on the sofa bed as bedtime reading—hoping she could somehow help her Master.
But she hadn’t expected these books to go
that
in-depth about men and women. There were even illustrated guides. After just a few pages, her cheeks were burning again.
Someone else, though, was having the time of her life.
Mad Ye: Tsk, brilliant! Great positions. Hurry, turn the page!
