After dodging the steel needles blasted out by the iron pellets, Yu Ye quickly climbed through the smoke—just in time to see her Master make a move.
Knowing the difference in their skills, and that the enemy might still be hiding other concealed weapons, Yu Ye didn’t interfere. Instead, she flew upward to the rooftop to cut off Duan Tianpeng’s possible escape route.
Standing above, she had expected to see a duel of movement techniques or a fierce battle—but what she witnessed instead was still one-sided domination, even against a wanted criminal this powerful.
One Eight Extremes Crushing Punch blasted Duan Tianpeng straight into the wall across from them. From up top, she could even see the faint airwave trailing from that punch.
Master had taught her this move a few days ago too, but compared to today’s display, her own Eight Extremes Crushing Punch looked more like a One Extremes Punch.
Mad Ye: Looks like your Master’s always super careful when he trains with you.
Yu Ye: More than techniques, I think the scariest thing about him is how he hides his true strength so well.
They’d thought that one move would end the fight, but clearly, Duan Tianpeng still had some tricks. He pulled out a soft sword from his waist, intending to go down swinging.
Master didn’t bully him—he met sword with sword. But when Yu Ye saw her Master’s black sword get cut in half, her heart suddenly skipped a beat.
Thankfully, the next moment, she saw Duan Tianpeng’s head roll off his shoulders, his body collapsing to the ground right after.
Still stunned, Yu Ye hurried over. At close range, she saw the black sword in Ji Qinglin’s hand was completely intact.
“Master, are you hurt?”
“I’m fine. Let’s go. We should check what goodies this guy had on him.”
Duan Tianpeng’s severed head, stained with blood, lay in the corner of the wall. His eyes were already lifeless, but his expression still held that death-stare shock. His headless body slumped nearby, blood bubbling up from the gaping stump.
Seeing the clean cut, Yu Ye still didn’t quite get it:
“I clearly saw your sword get cut in half—how did you end up cutting off his head?”
“Who says a broken sword can’t kill?”
“Uh… guess that makes sense.”
After several days of research, Ji Qinglin had realized the greatest advantage of Mo Warrior wasn’t just its nanobot plasticity and toughness, but its connectivity and controllability.
The superior connection and control let it move fluidly like flowing water.
Like they say—slice the water with a blade, it still flows.
Though he couldn’t yet perform full-on sword-flying, using techniques like threading his sword through the enemy’s to fake a broken blade and pull off a real decapitation—those weren’t too hard.
Having killed Duan Tianpeng, Ji Qinglin and Yu Ye quickly got to looting the body.
It was Yu Ye’s first time doing this, but under her excellent teacher’s guidance, her hands were far from clumsy.
Thankfully, the general noise didn’t bother the well-seasoned residents of Bangkok, and it was already late into the night. Otherwise, anyone passing by the general store alley would’ve thought this Master and Disciple pair were the real robbers and murderers.
Not wanting to drag blood into the general store and have to explain it, they chose to deal with everything right there in the alley.
Ji Qinglin took off Duan Tianpeng’s backpack and handed it to Yu Ye, then picked up the soft sword lying nearby and examined it closely:
“Click. Molecular blade. Looks like a custom job too. Yu Ye, stash it quickly. I think he pulled it from his waist—make sure you grab the belt too.”
Yu Ye had seen this kind of weapon in
True Martial Arts
magazine. The material and form of the weapon could be customized, while the blade edge was lined with molecular-grade edges to ensure insane sharpness.
Whether Duan Tianpeng had stolen it or paid for it, just from the engraving on the blade, she could tell it was not cheap.
She hadn’t expected her always-stingy Master to be so generous when it came to cultivation gear.
Ji Qinglin finished rummaging through Duan Tianpeng’s body but only found a bit of cash and two storage devices.
A lifetime thief, Duan Tianpeng probably never imagined that after death, the people who looted him would be even more thorough than he ever was.
Once they confirmed nothing was missed, they placed his head and body to the side and covered them with a piece of clothing. The pair then leapt from the alley back to the hotel and snuck into Duan Tianpeng’s room through the broken window.
Maybe it was a thief’s instinct to always be ready to run—there were no other stolen goods found in the room.
“All right, Yu Ye, open the bag. Let’s see if our Master and Disciple luck is any good—maybe we’ll score something nice.”
Mad Ye: I’m willing to trade my virginity for a top-tier cultivation accessory.
Yu Ye: Virginity? Do you even have that?
Mad Ye: If I don’t, I’ll trade yours.
Yu Ye: Scram!
Worried the bag might be full of used underwear, Yu Ye cautiously pinched through the material first. Feeling that there were a few solid objects inside, she slowly unzipped the backpack.
But when she saw the item on top, her brows furrowed. What met her eyes was a crystal-clear right hand bone.
Afraid it might be some kind of trap, Yu Ye shifted the contents around to make sure it wasn’t connected to anything. Once confirmed, she carefully took it out.
The entire hand bone was transparent, like it had been carved from a solid block of crystal. Despite the high drop earlier, it hadn’t taken any damage.
It felt warm and smooth to the touch, like an ancient relic that had been polished over decades. Holding it in her hand and examining it, Yu Ye curiously asked:
“Master, I’ve never seen anything like this before. Is it a weapon? Or…”
Before she could finish, Ji Qinglin raised his hand to press her lips shut. He glanced around to make sure no one was nearby, then gently placed the crystal arm back into the backpack and whispered:
“Let’s talk back at the store.”
With their faces this close, Yu Ye could clearly see the change in Master’s expression—gone was the usual calm, now replaced by tightly furrowed brows. Not even during the fight with Duan Tianpeng had he looked like this.
Knowing it must be serious, Yu Ye didn’t say a word. She just nodded and quickly followed her Master through the alley back to the general store.
Only once they were seated in the living room did Ji Qinglin take the crystal arm back out of the backpack. After staring at it for a while, he seemed to confirm something and finally let out a long breath:
“This is bad. Really bad.”
“Master, is there something wrong with the contents of that bag?”
Seeing that Yu Ye didn’t seem to recognize the item, Ji Qinglin let out a wry smile:
“There’s nothing wrong with the item itself. If anything, we just got
too
lucky for our own good.”
Hearing that, Yu Ye thought for a second, then looked at the crystal arm on the table. Her breath hitched, apricot eyes going wide. Still, she kept her voice low to suppress the shock:
“Wait… is this a… Immortal’s corpse?”
Ji Qinglin rubbed his chin in thought:
“I’ve never seen the real thing. But President Lei Qiong mentioned once that, when he was younger, he saw part of an Immortal’s corpse at a major corporation. He said Immortal remains are made entirely of crystal-clear bone.
A few days ago, Zhang Huaimin told me the President’s Immortal corpse went missing in West Chang District, and the criminal had fled to the Northern New District to sell it. I remember thinking at the time—if someone was capable of stealing an Immortal’s corpse, why would they be dumb enough to let people know where they were fencing it?
But if the thief who stole that Immortal’s corpse was Duan Tianpeng, then… a lot of things make sense now.”
Mad Ye: Holy sh*t! We really scored something top-tier? Good thing we used
your
virginity for it.
