Chapter 61: Chapter 55: Tingfeng Garden
The next day.
Weekend.
The sky had not yet brightened, and in his sleep, Lin Feng vaguely heard sounds coming from the living room.
"So early?"
Half-asleep, Lin Feng opened his eyes. It was still dark outside. He muttered a sentence and continued to sleep with his head covered.
The nightmare from last night was quite strange, constantly affecting and even attacking him with mental waves. That evil and violent aura left him somewhat dizzy.
He tossed and turned all night, and it wasn’t until after four in the morning that the nightmare subsided, and he finally managed to fall asleep.
"Keep it down, your brother has been suffering from insomnia lately, his sleep quality is terrible."
In the living room, Lin Fang quietly said to Ma Lele as she walked out of the bathroom.
Ma Lele nodded quickly, moving quietly in a somewhat comical manner.
For Lin Feng’s family, weekends are a rare time for rest. With their busy and monotonous workdays, it’s only on this day that they can truly relax.
According to their usual habits, everyone would deliberately sleep in a bit for a rare good sleep.
But today, at around five, Lin Fang and Old Ma got up to wash up. They were not early risers, but rather had talked all night. Although they hadn’t slept, they were in great spirits, somewhat excited.
"I’ll go buy breakfast," Old Ma pointed at the door and quietly said to Lin Fang.
Their house was really too small, less than thirty square meters. If they cooked breakfast early in the morning, it would definitely wake Lin Feng.
Previously, Old Ma wouldn’t have cared.
Even if he did care, he would never go downstairs to buy breakfast. He would rather skip it than climb the stairs.
For the corpulent Old Ma, climbing stairs was his most hated task. Going up and down was nearly a thousand steps, a workout so intense it felt like it would take his life.
Economics decide status, even within a family.
Facing his gifted stepson, who was about to change the family’s life, Old Ma clearly considered Lin Feng’s feelings more.
"Go on, buy more. Xiaofeng’s appetite has grown a lot." Lin Fang was a bit surprised at Old Ma volunteering, but quickly reacted, smiled, and said.
"Alright."
Old Ma responded, left the house, and it was over an hour before a somewhat impatient Lin Fang saw him return carrying two large bags of heavy breakfast.
"Why did it take so long?" Lin Fang took the bags, complaining a bit.
"Can we finish all of this?" Lin Kerou was a bit wide-eyed.
There were at least twenty pieces of fried dough, and shockingly, a bag of buns, at least forty or fifty.
The buns were the size of a fist, and she would be full after two.
Old Ma was now drenched in sweat, exuding a stench, breathing heavily, his chest heaving as if he couldn’t catch his breath. After a while, he gasped, "Oh, I’m exhausted. You guys wouldn’t believe it, but the whole neighborhood is buzzing. Every few steps, a neighbor stopped me to ask if it’s true that Xiaofeng has really made 18 million."
"The whole neighborhood knows?" Lin Fang was also surprised.
"Is that even a question? Hundreds of neighbors surrounded me, nearly scaring me to death."
"They bombarded me with questions until my head almost exploded. I almost couldn’t cope, and Old Wang wouldn’t even take money for these two bags of buns and fried dough, saying it’s a preemptive celebration for our Xiaofeng." Old Ma sighed while drinking water.
Even though he worked in a government office, which seemed like a nine-to-five job, he was only a minor clerk. His income was not even as good as some laborers. When meeting neighbors ordinarily, they would just nod and greet him. When had he ever been respected like that?
"You shouldn’t take things without paying!"
"I know! But Old Wang refused to take any money. I insisted on giving it, and he nearly got into a fight, even stuffing more things on me." Old Ma said helplessly.
Lin Fang and the others listened, feeling it was a bit exaggerated. Old Wang was famous for being stingy; when was he ever this generous?
"Dad, Mom, which neighborhood are we buying in?" Ma Lele quietly asked.
"East Lake Port, I think. The environment and location are pretty good!" Lin Kerou suggested.
She and Chen Hao had visited there once. They had originally intended to use it as their wedding home, but it fell through because Chen Hao’s parents disagreed.
"I’m all sweaty; I’ll change clothes, dress nicely today." Old Ma said as he went into the room to change.
The family waited seemingly forever until almost nine when Lin Feng finally got up.
"Morning!"
Opening the door, Lin Feng saw his whole family sitting on the living room sofa in their finest clothes.
"Bro, hurry up, we’re just waiting for you." Ma Lele urged impatiently.
Thinking about living in a big house, she was almost flying with excitement.
"Okay, give me two minutes."
Lin Feng smiled, understanding the eagerness in his family’s hearts.
Buying a house might just mean a different place to live for the Inner City dwellers, but for the residents of Shore District, it marked the beginning of a new life.
After a quick wash-up, with his family watching, Lin Feng gulped down soy milk, holding a bun in each hand, and ate over twenty.
"Don’t choke, don’t rush as your sister suggested, take it slow," Lin Fang said with a laugh.
"Done eating, let’s go."
After satisfying his hunger, Lin Feng returned to his room to fetch his phone and made a call to Gao Hai. A second later, it was connected, "Big Head, let’s go."
On the other end, Gao Hai’s voice was hesitant, "Brother Feng, I still..."
Before Gao Hai could finish, Lin Feng laughed and scolded, "Hurry up, do you think your Brother Feng needs this bit of money?"
After a while, Gao Hai’s voice was excited, "Then wait for me!"
"Let’s go, to a new life," Lin Feng said to his family.
"Let’s go!" Ma Lele cheered, leading the way.
As the family walked out of the staircase, Gao Hai was already waiting there, panting heavily.
"Let’s go!"
Seeing Gao Hai looking a bit at a loss, Lin Feng directly reached out and put his hand on Gao Hai’s shoulder. This gesture slightly relaxed Gao Hai’s originally tense heart.
"Aunt Lin, Uncle Ma, Sister Ke Rou." Gao Hai greeted, looking somewhat awkward.
Lin Fang and Old Ma also smiled at Gao Hai. Since Lin Feng had already decided, they couldn’t say much. Gao Hai was someone they had watched grow up, and the two families had a good relationship.
"Xiaofeng, where is your family going?"
As Lin Feng’s family just reached downstairs, neighbors who had been paying close attention to their building immediately crowded around.
"The whole family’s dressed so neatly, going to a banquet?"
"Xiaofeng, did the advertisement slot really sell for 18 million?"
"For how many years is the contract signed?"
"Xiaofeng, did you really join the Thunder Club?"
The neighbors, full of excitement and curiosity, bombarded him with questions.
This morning, many of them were just getting up and turning on the morning news, only to be shocked by the headline: "Lin Feng endorses Huating Grand Restaurant, endorsement fee reaches 18 million!"
Many people didn’t even have breakfast, gathering downstairs at Lin Feng’s building early to discuss it intensely.
"It’s true, our family is going to the Inner City to look at houses."
Lin Feng smiled and told the neighbors.
There was nothing to hide; the neighbors would find out sooner or later.
"Really! Xiaofeng has made it big."
Who living in Shore District doesn’t dream of moving to the Inner City?
That’s the goal every family works day and night for.
Being able to even rent in the Inner City is not easy for them, let alone directly buying a house!
Three days ago, Song of Solomon signed with Ju Xing and moved out of Shore District. They envied it for some time, and at the same time, felt sad for Lin Feng.
Who would have thought, not long after, the one whom everyone saw as a failure would rise, endorsing an advertisement before even finishing high school, with a fee of 18 million.
Who could have imagined?
"Lin Feng, can you really refine an Earth Chart Demon Spirit?" someone asked curiously.
This question was what many neighbors wanted to know.
If Lin Feng could really refine an Earth Chart Demon Spirit, there was no doubt that Lin Feng would become the most talented and promising star in the history of Shore District.
"You’ll find out in the future."
Lin Feng smiled slightly and didn’t give a direct answer, but he was very confident.
"Old Ma, your good days are coming." The neighbors looked on with envy.
Old Ma smiled modestly, "Thanks for your kind words!"
Soon, word spread quickly, and everyone at home in Shore District got the news. They all came downstairs, making the already narrow passageway packed tightly. Fortunately, Lin Feng and his family had already left by then, or they might not have been able to leave the neighborhood.
"Looks like we really need to move!" Walking on the road, Lin Fang sighed a bit.
The unprecedented enthusiasm of the neighbors even made her a bit worried.
"Brother, where are we going?"
"Tingfeng Garden!"
Lin Feng raised his hand to hail a taxi.
Tingfeng Garden was the neighborhood he lived in in his past life.
But that was ten years later when he became a Fifth Grade Martial Artist and bought a second-hand apartment with a loan.
At the time he bought it, the house price had already soared to seventy thousand per square meter. Now, the complex had just opened, and Lin Feng had checked yesterday; the price should be around forty thousand.
Compared to other neighborhoods with names like Yu Long Lake or Dijing Bay, the name "Tingfeng Garden" had a fresh and literary feel to it.
Although the complex was in the core area of the Inner City, it pursued tranquility amidst the hustle and bustle, with plenty of greenery and garden-style layout.
Tingfeng Garden means living in the complex, you can hear the sound of the breeze blowing in the quiet moments.
An hour and a half later, after paying a taxi fare of 312 yuan, Lin Feng’s family stopped in front of a sales office.
At the real estate center, as Lin Feng’s family walked in, a sales lady came to greet them.
"This person looks familiar?"
The sales lady looked at Lin Feng first, feeling he looked familiar, as if she had seen him somewhere, but couldn’t remember where.
"Hello, what type of unit would you like to see?"
The sales lady asked politely.
While speaking, she discreetly sized up Lin Feng’s family with her eyes.
With her keen eyes, she could clearly see that the family of five in front of her was not very wealthy. This was evident from their clothing. Though new, the clothes were all cheap items.
Except for the calm young man, the rest seemed somewhat nervous, even the middle-aged couple who should be the parents kept glancing at the young man, as if he was in charge of everything!
A strange family!
The sales lady thought to herself.
And not far away, there were two girls around twelve or thirteen years old, accompanying their parents to look at houses. Originally bored and playing on their phones, they suddenly perked up and looked excited when Lin Feng’s family entered.
