Miss Witch’s Devotion Has Gone… Twisted-Chapter 20: Children! Taking Office at the Magic Academy!

Chapter 20

"Master Mentor, we have arrived."
Several people wearing mage robes brought Loren to the vicinity of the Gedlan Royal Magic Academy. Although this country wasn't large, the academy was quite substantial, significantly bigger than many universities.
However, its size was understandable - the dormitory conditions here were quite high-end, with all kinds of facilities readily available. The academy was truly well-managed, and the students here were either talented or wealthy; ordinary people couldn't get in.
The accompanying staff brought Loren to his prepared residence, a standalone small building. It was hard to imagine such architecture existing within a school. Loren once again marveled at the extravagance of these nobles.
"This is your residence. The equipment you need is in the potions classroom. This is the storage room key - all the materials you requested are there. Feel free to take whatever you need."
After the handover, Loren stored his luggage at the residence and headed straight for the potions classroom.
"Children, time to take up my post at the Gedlan Royal Magic Academy!"
Loren was holding the injured nightingale in his hands, just about to ask someone to buy a birdcage when Mirrorheart volunteered to purchase the cage. Loren let her go with it - it was just buying a cage, surely she couldn't cause any trouble with that?
"Master Mentor, you know how to brew potions too? How come I didn't know that?"
Anna followed beside Loren, occasionally reaching out to touch the nightingale's head with her finger as she walked and inquired.
"There are plenty of things you don't know about me."
"I know many things about you! You're wearing black underwear today that hasn't been washed for two days, and you prefer white stockings."
"Holy crap, how do you know that?"
Anna's sudden revelation genuinely shocked Loren, giving him the feeling that even his underwear had been seen through - no, it literally was that his underwear had been seen through.
Discovering she had successfully startled Loren, Anna's smile grew even brighter. She placed her hands behind her back, her steps becoming noticeably lighter:
"I came looking for you the night before we left, but unfortunately my spot was taken by Naclis. I could only lift the blanket to check if you were doing anything naughty.
"And yesterday you slept with me, wearing the same underwear as that night."
Anna grew more and more pleased with herself as she spoke, eventually even walking in front of Loren while facing him and walking backward:
"As for your preferences, I noticed you look at Mirrorheart's legs more often when she wears white stockings than when she wears black ones."
Seeing Anna's expression becoming increasingly smug, Loren reached out and tapped her on the head:
"Great deduction skills. Next time, don't deduce."
Meanwhile, Loren muttered to himself, no wonder Anna always wore white stockings - he had naively thought it was just because children liked that color.
Hearing Anna say this, Naclis felt somewhat unhappy. She placed her hands on Anna's shoulders and spoke with earnest concern:
"How could we possibly do anything bad? Master Mentor has always been very kind - many poor people come to seek his advice and he always answers them.
"And no matter how many people say bad things about Master Mentor, we shouldn't speak that way."
She always considered herself Anna's older sister, wanting to teach Anna the few principles she knew, but Anna remained cheeky and playful.
Finally, Anna even reached out and patted Naclis's hair, barely able to contain her laughter:
"Sister, you're still young. When you grow up, you'll understand..."
Loren couldn't help but cover Anna's mouth. He felt a headache coming on - Loren roughly guessed how Anna knew so much. She often wandered around the house, and Mirrorheart's room contained many strange books and drawings, not only those she bought but also ones she drew herself... Loren had already burned several boxes of them...
Naclis remained completely bewildered, continuing to follow silently behind Loren.
Her high heels made "click-clack" sounds as they hit the ground. She looked down at her own legs, wondering if she should switch to wearing white stockings too.
While they were talking, the group arrived at the potions classroom. There were several classrooms, with even more storage rooms for equipment and medicinal materials. They had even specially prepared an office here for Loren.
Standing before the cauldron, Loren quickly got into the zone. He was indeed skilled at preparing potions, though his current attributes were too low, making his success rate less than ideal. Potions, like magic, were graded - the higher the grade, the more difficult they were to brew and the higher the intelligence attributes required. However, it wasn't impossible to brew them; the success rate was just lower.
All of this would be solved once he obtained the Tear of Condensed Wishes. But for now, the King wouldn't easily hand over this item. At the very least, Loren needed to fail a few times first - fail enough to make the King feel the financial pain - then he would naturally bring it out.
"Go help me fetch some materials: Moonlight Grass, Rootless Water, Jungle Lizard Tails, and Stone Root Fern juice.
"Anna, Naclis, this is a new song I wrote. Memorize the lyrics first."
Loren tossed a book to the two witches while pulling a magic wand from his clothes. Spellcasting didn't require a wand, but having a medium made magic more precise. The simplest mediums were wands or magic books, and some mediums could even enhance magic - Valentina's greatsword was of that type.
Naclis glanced at the book - what was written inside wasn't lyrics at all, but magic that Loren had modified. She looked up at Loren, then at Anna who was diligently memorizing the book's contents, and immediately understood Loren's intention.
After a while, the attendant brought the materials Loren requested from the storage room. Loren extended his wand, and flames instantly ignited beneath the cauldron. Waving his wand, the materials flew into the cauldron one by one, stirring in an orderly fashion. Eventually, the green liquid slowly turned red, indicating the potion had been successfully brewed.
Loren waved his wand upward, and the potion flew into glass bottles that had been prepared nearby - exactly two bottles.
"Hold out your hand."
After brewing this potion, Loren suddenly gave an order to the attendant. Though he didn't understand, he instinctively obeyed, and then he saw Loren suddenly draw a dagger and slash a deep, bone-revealing wound on his arm. Loren had cut through his vein, causing blood to flow uncontrollably.
"Master Mentor..."
"Shut up. Drink this."
Not giving the attendant a chance to respond, Loren shoved the potion into his mouth. The attendant instinctively swallowed, and as he finished the potion, his bleeding instantly stopped. Simultaneously, an itchy sensation came from his wound, proving that it was healing.
Loren handed the other potion bottle to the attendant and said:
"Your wound won't affect your movements now. It will completely heal shortly. Third-grade potion, Coagulation Essence. One bottle is enough to fully heal you. Consider the extra one my gift. Now go fetch other materials for me.
"Hmm, it seems I haven't lost my touch."
This potion was just Loren's way of demonstrating his capabilities. If he were to brew truly important potions, Loren wouldn't allow outsiders to watch.
He had a unique technique - all potions required "Rootless Water" or "Clear Spring Water." People here still thought these waters had special magical properties, unaware that it was simply for cleanliness.
If replaced with "distilled water," the potion's effects would significantly improve.
