"Let me see... Magic class, Potions class, History class, Language class, Bountiful Harvest and Faith, Supernatural Creatures..."
The curriculum at Gedlan Royal Magic Academy was quite extensive. Loren originally planned to teach Potions class and cosplay as Snape, but after careful consideration, he decided against it. It just didn't seem interesting.
"Have you decided which class you want to teach?"
In Loren's office, an obsequious man was waiting for Loren to make his choice. After all, the semester had already started, and the King's notification came rather late.
He was the academy's dean. The positions within the academy were quite similar to those from Loren's own school days.
"Supernatural Creatures it is. This class best showcases my expertise."
Loren wanted to hide his true abilities. He couldn't teach much in Magic class either. Classes related to faith were even more distasteful to him. Although he was the model follower of the God of Bountiful Harvest, that didn't stop him from despising the Church and every single Orthodox God.
The Supernatural Creatures class helped students understand the supernatural beings in this world, including but not limited to magical beasts, and other races beyond humanity, such as vampires, elves, and the like. The class content was relatively flexible.
Seeing Loren finally make a decision, the dean finally breathed a sigh of relief. He handed the class schedule to Loren and thoughtfully marked out the Supernatural Creatures classes. The nearest one was in the afternoon, which was just enough time for Loren to catch up on some sleep.
He hadn't slept a wink last night, busy controlling Gwen to spread the faith within the Royal Capital. The results weren't great. People's faith in the God of Bountiful Harvest was deeply ingrained. But it didn't matter; the God of Hatred would grant them courage and hatred.
Corruption had nothing to do with the firmness of one's faith. What Loren was doing was spreading that corruption.
Loren felt no guilt about this. Only those who harbored hatred in their hearts would truly be corrupted by Ligoss. Otherwise, even an Outer God could do nothing. The world's will had always been repelling the Outer Gods. If not for that, those Orthodox Gods wouldn't stand a chance against the Outer Gods.
What Loren was doing was merely giving them courage and a choice. Those youths who were given as gifts to the plague believers were supposed to die quietly in some corner, but Loren made them stand up again.
A lose-lose situation is better than a single winner. It's just that some people simply lack the capital for a lose-lose scenario. One must possess the ability to achieve a lose-lose outcome before a win-win result becomes possible.
"By the way, do you two want to go to school?"
"No, I want to sleep in."
Anna answered decisively. Naclis also nodded in agreement. She felt her world only needed Loren; no other social interactions were necessary.
"Alright then."
Loren respected their wishes. Scarlett was even lazier than Anna. Right now, she was still sleeping at home and hadn't even come along. She probably wouldn't be interested in attending school either.
"Then, will you punish this bad student of yours who doesn't want to go to school?"
Mirrorheart had somehow gotten hold of a set of the academy's uniform. The uniform of Gedlan Royal Magic Academy was similar to a JK uniform: shirt, sweater, tie, short skirt, but with an added robe on the outside, giving it a more ancient style.
She suddenly sat down next to Loren, placing her white-stocking-clad calf right on Loren's leg. Her leather shoe was half-off, dangling from her toes.
"..."
With the children right there, Loren was too embarrassed to do anything. He could only watch as Mirrorheart slowly pulled her skirt hem upward.
If Mirrorheart didn't engage in any of her bizarre antics, she was genuinely captivating. Whether it was her looks or her figure, there wasn't a single flaw to be found.
"Ahem, Naclis, Anna, go check the storage room to see if there are any Time-Reverse Flowers left. They're important materials for brewing Ember Radiance."
All the Time-Reverse Flowers were in the office. This trip was guaranteed to take them a long time.
...
When Anna and the others returned, they noticed Mirrorheart's complexion looked much better, but they didn't pay it much mind:
"Master Mentor, we couldn't find any Time-Reverse Flowers."
"Cough... Then I must have remembered wrong. The Time-Reverse Flowers are all in the office."
Anna looked suspicious and glanced at the desk:
"Why is there blood here? Did something happen?"
Loren panicked a little. He suddenly remembered he'd forgotten some of Mirrorheart's settings and tried to cover it up as best he could:
"Oh, that? I was just using my blood again to draw runes earlier. It's nothing."
A mischievous grin suddenly appeared on Anna's face. Only Naclis still wore a concerned expression:
"Isn't there anything else that can replace blood?"
"It's not a big deal, just a little blood. The healing effect the Female Pope gave me will fix it quickly enough..."
Having barely managed to gloss over the situation, Loren looked at Mirrorheart. Her expression remained impassive.
"Alright then, let's head back first. I have a class this afternoon..."
This time, Mirrorheart, who usually liked to walk at the front of the group, ended up at the very back. Her pace was noticeably slower.
"..."
Loren could only quicken his steps, hurrying home to avoid any further complications.
Back home, Loren whistled, and Nightingale flew out from the room, landing on his shoulder. Loren didn't know why, but this nightingale, like a person, preferred being active during the day.
Taking advantage of Nightingale distracting Anna and Naclis, Mirrorheart slipped into her bedroom to change clothes. When she emerged, she was already wearing her maid outfit, and her white thigh-highs had been replaced with pantyhose.
Only then did Loren finally relax, though he had a feeling Anna knew everything.
But Loren didn't dwell on it too much. He planned to prepare a little for his afternoon class. His hair also needed a trim.
Back then, Loren had intended to take the exam for a normal university to become a teacher. Unfortunately, he ended up studying automation instead, and later, he saw through the vanity of the world and went into wildlife conservation.
Now that he truly had the chance to be a teacher, Loren took it somewhat seriously. No matter what, he shouldn't let the children down.
Loren took out a notebook and started writing his lesson plan, while Mirrorheart tidied his hair.
He maintained his usual hairstyle: short hair, covering one eye.
As for his attire, there wasn't much to say. He still wore his black robe.
Loren looked at himself in the mirror. He was somewhat handsome, but now with the [Witch's Curse], he should be quite popular.
These past few days, whenever Loren went out, he often attracted a bunch of small animals circling around him. Even extremely sensitive birds like sparrows would perch calmly on his shoulder.
But this wasn't the true purpose of this curse. The smoothness of Loren's transaction with the King was also partly due to this curse. Its real utility would come into play if he ever encountered truly powerful supernatural creatures in the future.
The upper limit of each Tarot card was terrifyingly high. Collecting the entire set of Tarot cards would also trigger additional effects.
Loren was very interested in Tarot cards. Unless he was aiming for a no-damage or speedrun, Loren would always try to collect the full Tarot deck. He had also researched the stories behind the Tarot cards and discovered they originated from an entity barely mentioned in the games.
