Miss Witch’s Devotion Has Gone… Twisted-Chapter 41: Heroes

Chapter 41

Today Mirrorheart searched everywhere but only found two Abyssal Sea Crystals. Combined with the two originally remaining, it was just enough for one per person.
The original color of this thing is pure transparent, not particularly attractive, and as a magical material its uses are limited, so few people bother to mine it.
"This is so pretty."
Anna was very happy receiving the necklace, though when she put it on she discovered the necklace got stuck inside, completely invisible from the outside.
Seeing this scene, Naclis silently pushed her own necklace deeper inside. Currently, only she didn't have this particular trouble.
Having so many additional perspectives at once made Loren somewhat uncomfortable, but he quickly adapted. Being able to watch the witches at all times made Loren feel much more at ease.
"Master Mentor, who is this one for?"
Even though she and the others had already received the Abyssal Gaze Eyes, Loren still had one extra in his hand. Sensing some confusion, Naclis inquired.
"Oh, I plan to give it to Luna... Watch out!"
Before he could finish speaking, Loren's intuition sent a warning. His body moved faster than his mouth—before speaking, Loren had already shielded Naclis behind him.
The next moment, the door instantly shattered. A person shrouded in black mist appeared at the entrance, his purpose clear, his eyes fixed dead on Loren.
"A Blackened?"
In just an instant, Loren understood the situation. When Loren created the concept of the Blackened, those truly in power still didn't believe these things could threaten them, even daring to conduct research.
Their understanding of the Blackened far exceeded what they publicly revealed. Combined with what Eldrin said to Loren during the day, Loren quickly deduced this Blackened's origin—he was most likely influenced by Eldrin.
It wasn't just words; Eldrin had probably used magic. Otherwise, this man wouldn't harbor such hatred for Loren.
In Loren's mind, Eldrin's date of death had been moved up yet again.
"Loren! It's all because of you! I live in fear every day now!
"As long as I kill you, everything will be fine..."
The Blackened were merely consumed by hatred; they still retained language and thinking abilities.
So theoretically, they could be persuaded to willingly undo their corruption. It was just very difficult.
"And which stray dog from the roadside are you?"
Loren was very self-aware. He didn't consider himself a good person, but those who hated him were even less so.
Thus, he had already guessed this man's identity—Simone's husband. The people Loren had offended weren't many, and only he fit the criteria.
Even knowing the man's identity, Loren still chose to provoke him. It wasn't his fault, so why should he back down?
Hearing Loren's words, the man grew increasingly furious, the black mist emanating from his body thickening noticeably.
With a roar, thorns began sprouting from beneath Loren's feet. He didn't chant; the thorns were also wreathed in black mist. Corruption also strengthened his magic.
The agility attributes Loren had previously allocated now proved useful. As Loren dodged sideways, he also drew his magic wand. After a brief chant, identical thorns erupted from beneath the man's feet, entangling him.
Second-tier magic of the Abundance Sequence: Thorn Entanglement.
"Leave the rest to me."
Loren signaled Mirrorheart to quickly take the others away. Eldrin was likely monitoring this place through some method right now, and as witches, it wasn't convenient for them to act.
"But..."
"Go!"
Naclis wanted to say something, but before she could speak, Loren cut her off. In the end, she could only follow Mirrorheart and escape through the back door.
The thorns didn't restrain the man for long. Soon, the thorns coiling around him were completely corroded by the black mist.
"If your situation is so miserable, why not consider your own reasons? Your conditions aren't bad, right? Why bother finding a flying pig? Because she could bring you pure female students?"
Simone didn't start doing those things only when the war began; she had always been like that, which was how she became entangled with many influential figures.
He didn't know much magic. Seeing that magic was ineffective against Loren, he began closing in for hand-to-hand combat.
Loren swung his wand. A large net shot from its tip, trapping the man once more. Loren seized this opportunity to escape the house, reaching open ground.
With Loren's strength, he could instantly kill him, but Loren wanted to feign weakness, to make others lower their guard.
"Protect the Master Mentor!"
In a short time, the Royal Capital's guard force had already arrived at Loren's side. Their efficiency depended on the victim's status. They stood in front of Loren, forming an impenetrable wall.
However, they didn't hold out for long. The Blackened basically took them out with one punch each. They were strong against rioters, but against a Blackened? Forget it. In the end, Loren still had to act.
"Knotgrass and Linked Rings."
Loren waved his wand, unleashing another second-tier magic. He didn't plan to use higher-tier spells.
A grass knot suddenly grew beneath the Blackened's feet, tripping him with extreme tenacity.
"Entangle. Grass Net."
Two consecutive first-tier magics were flung out. While the Blackened was entangled by vines, he was also covered by a grass net. The black mist on his body couldn't corrode it quickly, temporarily pinning him to the ground.
Loren didn't need to defeat him; he just needed to wait for the Church's people to arrive.
"Ah!"
The Blackened let out a furious roar, forcibly tearing the restraints from his body. Loren toyed with him like playing with a cat, intensifying his hatred for Loren.
"Why bother?"
Loren lifted his black robe, revealing the submachine gun hidden beneath, instantly drawing it. Before the Blackened could charge, bullets engulfed him.
The Blackened's defensive power was indeed terrifying. Loren's magazines were filled with ordinary bullets, completely incapable of dealing effective damage to the Blackened, but they could hinder his movement. That was enough.
"Sufficient."
Loren put away the submachine gun. He sensed a powerful presence rapidly approaching, most likely the Church's reinforcements.
Feeling the gunfire stop, the Blackened finally lowered the arm shielding his head. But before he could launch another attack, a sword flying from a distance pierced through his body, pinning him to the wall.
The usually unstoppable black mist proved useless against this silver sword. No matter how hard he struggled, he couldn't damage the silver sword in the slightest, remaining tightly nailed to the wall.
Loren looked toward the direction the silver sword came from, revealing a surprised expression.
The arrival wasn't a Scarecrow at all, but a young woman dressed as a knight.
She wore a knight's skirt. Her silver-white cape behind her reflected a blood-red glow under the moonlight. Her deep blue long hair flowed along with the cape. A mask covered the upper half of her face, giving off a heroic and valiant feeling.
"..."
Loren guessed this was the superhero the students mentioned in class before. The appearance of a superhero didn't surprise Loren; this was a supernatural world. It wasn't strange for a powerful knight or mage to suddenly get the whim to become a hero.
But, damn it, isn't this Luna? Does she really think wearing a mask can hide her true identity?
Loren suddenly felt a headache coming on. At least change to a mask that covers your whole face...
