Miss Witch’s Devotion Has Gone… Twisted-Chapter 46: A Night of Murder in the Dark

Chapter 46

Before the battle began, Loren started taking potions, drinking everything from antidote amulets that prevented poisoning to mind-enhancing elixirs, forcibly boosting all his attributes significantly. The ground was littered with empty bottles.
Loren didn't leave any evidence either; he even had Scarlett collect the leftover bottles.
Several guards were stationed at the entrance of the hideout. No matter how miserable the screams coming from inside were, they didn't even flinch, still chatting and laughing.
"Who goes there!"
As soon as Loren approached, they pointed their spears at his chest. Loren promptly raised his hands, putting on a frightened act.
"Actually, I'm a very kind person. If you had shown even a hint of reluctance just now, I might have chosen to knock you out."
"Wh..."
Before they could react, their flying heads saw their own bodies.
Anna, standing behind them, sheathed her blade, unable to contain her excitement. This was her first time killing someone.
Naclis held a longsword condensed from shadows, looking somewhat uncomfortable. This was also her first time personally killing someone.
After the two guards died, part of their blood was drawn out, swirling around Anna.
This was also arranged by Loren in advance. After killing, Anna would only extract part of the blood. Extracting too much would reveal abnormalities.
"Get inside quickly, finish this fast. There have been many Blackened lately; they're sure to be on guard."
After kicking aside the guards' corpses, Loren cleaved the lock on the main gate with a single slash and entered the courtyard.
As soon as he entered, Loren smelled a foul stench. The swarming flies even hurt a little when they crashed into him.
The courtyard was littered with many rotting limbs and severed arms. They really weren't trying to hide anything at all.
"Kill. Leave no survivors."
Loren kicked open the door of the mansion. Right there in the living room, Loren saw an altar made of rotting corpses. No wonder there were so many limbs in the courtyard.
Just as Loren had expected, they were indeed planning something in the Gedlan Kingdom. If Loren had arrived any later, it would have truly been a scene of utter devastation.
The commotion from breaking down the door had already alerted the people inside. When he entered, a man was already standing beside the altar, facing Loren.
He was sickly thin, precisely the man Loren had encountered at the kingdom's ball before, the one who had harbored ill intentions towards Loren. Now, meeting again, the dark circles under his eyes were even darker.
"Are you here to join our party too?"
As the man spoke, the Plague Believers had already gathered in the living room. Although their builds varied, they all bore the same plum blossom mark on their bodies, a symbol of syphilis. The exposed skin was all rotten flesh. If not for the God of Plague's blessing, their bodies would have likely collapsed long ago.
It's just a pity that reversing the blessings of the Orthodox Gods consumes too much power, otherwise Loren could have instantly killed them all.
These people reacted quickly. After they walked out of the rooms, screams still echoed from within. The mansion the King had prepared for them now seemed more like a brothel, or perhaps hell.
"Children, today I'll teach you a lesson about the ways of the world."
Loren wasn't in a hurry to attack. Instead, he first clasped his hands behind his back and started chatting with Anna and the others:
"If you offend someone with an extraordinary status, what should you do next?"
"Run away. Take your family and flee to a place he can't find."
Loren shook his head at Naclis's answer.
"Then seize the chance and kill him, so he has no opportunity to call for backup!"
Loren was more satisfied with Anna's answer, but he still shook his head.
The Plague Believers just watched quietly as Loren and the others chatted, rapidly and silently reciting the revered name of the God of Plague in their mouths. They couldn't possibly be foolish enough to just watch Loren chat.
They just didn't notice that the longsword behind Loren was also gathering momentum, right while Loren was talking.
"You're both wrong. There are no walls that wind can't pass through. As long as you do something, someone will definitely find out."
Saying this, Loren looked up and stared at the leading Plague Believer, continuing:
"If we truly offend those people of high status, they are very likely to call their fathers to deal with us. Beat the young one, and the old one comes; beat the old one, and an even older one comes...
"So, what we must do is directly kill his entire family! Kill every single person who might help them seek revenge, leaving none alive! If you cut the weeds but don't remove the roots, they'll sprout again when the spring breeze blows. Now that we have already offended these Plague Believers, we must not only kill their entire families, but we must also kill the King. This is the troublesome part of the ways of the world."
The moment Loren finished speaking, those Plague Believers acted simultaneously:
"Rotten Corpse Blood Haze!"
A crimson haze rapidly spread outwards from them as the starting point, instantly engulfing Loren and the others.
The man revealed a smile. This was an ability imbued with the authority of the God of Plague. Anyone who came into contact with it would have their body instantly corroded. Once inhaled, death was certain.
In an enclosed space, Plague Believers held a great advantage, especially since Loren foolishly gave them time to prepare.
"Wind-Cleaving Blade!"
Loren's shout suddenly rang out. The man's smile instantly froze, because Loren had already appeared right in front of him. The Rotten Corpse Blood Haze was also blown away by the wind Loren brought with him, revealing Naclis and Anna, who were similarly unscathed.
The Rotten Corpse Blood Haze couldn't truly touch them at all, as if separated by an invisible barrier.
"Throat-Severing Slash!"
Before he could react, Loren's blade had already slit his throat. Two martial skills were used consecutively by Loren, not even giving the man a chance to react.
Actually, he should have been quite troublesome to deal with, but he had the misfortune of encountering Loren. Loren knew all his weaknesses, while he knew nothing about Loren.
With the help of the information gap and the potion boost, he was instantly killed.
"Urgh..."
The blood gushing from his throat blocked his windpipe, preventing him from speaking. Loren swiftly cut off his arms with two slashes, then pressed a hand against his body.
[Pluto's Mouth], activate!
The man's body began to twist, completely disappearing within seconds. Loren also received his reward.
Level +1, Intelligence +2.
This sudden scene terrified the surrounding Plague Believers. By the time they reacted, daggers condensed from blood had already stabbed into their eyes. In the next moment, Anna, who charged forward, beheaded the Plague Believer on Loren's left with a single slash.
As for the believer on Loren's right, a robed figure identical to Naclis suddenly emerged from his shadow. Holding a longsword condensed from shadows, she decapitated him with one clean strike.
Without their leader, Anna and Naclis cleaned up the remaining rabble as easily as chopping melons and slicing vegetables. The physical strength of Plague Believers wasn't great to begin with. When their greatest reliance proved ineffective, they had no way to resist.
Loren picked off a few kills himself but didn't level up further. Soon, not a single living soul remained here.
"Naclis, go call Scarlett. Anna and I will look for survivors."
After the battle ended, Naclis began to retch. It was already remarkable that she held out until the fight was over.
Today's events had quite an impact on Naclis. She really should take a moment to recover.
However, regarding the act of killing, neither Anna nor Naclis harbored much resistance. Since childhood, Loren had taught them that leaving evil people alive only harms good people. Killing one evil person is equivalent to saving a multitude of good people.
The facts indeed proved this to be true. They had already witnessed the horrors here. If they hadn't killed those people, they didn't dare imagine what would have happened later.
