Miss Witch’s Devotion Has Gone… Twisted-Chapter 51: Idle Time

Chapter 51

Anna was busy fighting with Scarlett over food, so the only one who would notice what was happening here was Naclis.
This kind of thing was quite novel, so Loren didn't interrupt Mirrorheart and instead started thinking of ways to divert Naclis's attention.
"Nothing much going on today. Is there anything you'd like to do, Naclis?"
"Let's go to the opera."
Suddenly asked by Loren, Naclis felt a surge of pleasant surprise. Truth be told, Loren hadn't taken them out to play many times. First, Loren wasn't very interested in these ancient forms of entertainment. Second, Loren was too lazy to go out. Having transmigrated for so long without suffering much hardship, Loren hadn't shaken off his lazy habits.
"Alright, when shall we go?"
Speaking of this, Loren felt somewhat awkward. The vast majority of operas nowadays were written by Loren, or rather, plagiarized by him. He had basically never listened to them, and Loren, accustomed to movies and anime, genuinely wasn't very interested. But to accompany Naclis, going once was fine.
"In the evening."
Naclis responded, revealing a blissful smile.
"Mhm, after things are settled, I'll take you all to play in the territory of the God of Night and Thunder. That place is completely different from the territory of the God of Bountiful Harvest."
It truly was completely different. While they were still listening to operas here, over there they were already putting on concerts. They had even produced things like records, as if they were from completely different eras.
More crucially, Loren knew there was a witch over there—the Pride Witch, one of the Seven Sins. She was one of the few witches for whom Loren had any clues.
Furthermore, many vampires were also there. If possible, Loren wanted to establish good relations with the vampires. The strongest among the bloodline even possessed the ability to kill some Angels. Angels were already considered the ceiling of combat power in this game world. The reason the Witches' Church could contend with the Orthodox Gods' Church in the later stages was precisely because they had the Seven Sins Witches, whose combat power was comparable to that of Angels.
Unintentionally, Loren had already poached two key generals from the Witches' Church. In that case, wouldn't collecting all Seven Sins be justifiable?
Another witch for whom Loren had clues was the Lust Witch, located in the territory of the God of Plague. To put it bluntly, she had little to do with lust. She just had sufficient strength to become part of the Witches' Church's top echelon, and to maintain uniformity with the others, she was given this title.
Loren had stalled Naclis for quite a while before Mirrorheart reappeared.
Loren suddenly felt a wave of awkwardness and coughed dryly a few times.
Fortunately, breakfast passed peacefully like this. Naclis hadn't noticed anything, and Anna probably hadn't either. Loren found himself understanding Anna less and less. She seemed to understand nothing, yet also seemed to understand everything.
There were no classes in the afternoon, so Loren simply stayed in his bedroom all afternoon, spending the time studying magic and playing with the bird. Logically, nightingales aren't very suitable as pets, but Loren's Nightingale was exceptionally affectionate and very intelligent. Even those large parrots couldn't compare to her. In just one afternoon, Loren taught her many tricks.
Loren briefly experienced the joy of an old man walking his bird, until Mirrorheart knocked on Loren's bedroom door.
Recently, Mirrorheart had restrained herself a lot. If she had taken her fill in the morning, she wouldn't ask again in the afternoon. For her to come find Loren at this time definitely meant there was something else.
"What is it?"
Because they were going out today, Mirrorheart's attire was very conservative, with her skirt almost reaching her ankles, basically only showing her hands.
"Someone is looking for you. It's a girl."
"A girl? What color is her hair?"
Loren thought for a moment. Mirrorheart didn't seem to know Luna, and among the people Loren knew, basically only Luna might come looking for him.
"Blonde hair. She's right at the door. You can go meet her."
Now Loren was puzzled. He couldn't think of who would come looking for him and could only go out to take a look.
Loren searched his memory. The only one who fit the criteria was Sylvia. Under pressure, it wasn't impossible for her to come apologize to Loren. But when Loren walked out of the bedroom, he found a strange girl at the door.
The girl was wearing the Gedlan Royal Magic Academy uniform, except the uniform had been altered somewhat, making it more frivolous—the fabric was thinner, the skirt shorter. The girl's makeup was quite heavy, very mature, not matching her age at all.
She was indeed somewhat pretty, but Loren spent every day mingling with witches, and his aesthetic standards had long since been elevated to who knows what heights. In his eyes, this girl was just average.
"Master Mentor... I..."
The girl stepped inside the door. She looked very timid, which didn't match her appearance at all. If it wasn't an act she was putting on deliberately, then there was only one possibility.
"Who sent you?"
Loren interrupted the girl. The girl immediately became flustered.
"It was Teacher Simone. She sent me. She also told me to emphasize that I'm very pure..."
Under Loren's gaze, which contained anger, the girl became somewhat frightened and spilled everything she knew.
To think Simone would still dare to pull these tricks under such circumstances. It seemed Loren could only accelerate his plans. Choosing to use a blunt knife to slice meat slowly might have been a mistake. It might also allow other innocent people to be harmed by Simone.
"Let's go. I'll take you back. First, go back to find Simone."
After saying this, Loren had Mirrorheart tell Naclis to meet directly at the theater entrance in the evening. Only then did he leave with the girl.
The girl had just arrived at Loren's home and was immediately sent away by Loren. The entire way, she was anxious and uneasy. Loren knew she had most likely been threatened by Simone.
"It's alright. Leave everything to me."
The girl was considerably younger than Luna, about the same age as Anna. The Gedlan Royal Magic Academy had several grades; she was a lower-grade student.
Even so, Simone dared to make a move. Putting her on Finale's must-kill list was absolutely not wronging her.
At the same time, this matter revealed one piece of information: anyone with power and influence had already fled the Royal Capital. Yet Simone was still here, even trying to curry favor with Loren. Her status was truly very lowly.
Even though she had committed so many evil deeds to please the powerful and noble in normal times, no one had taken her along when they fled.
Loren brought the girl to Simone's doorstep. It was indeed somewhat better than commoners' homes, but only just. After Loren knocked, there was no response.
"It's me, Loren."
Only after Loren announced his name did movement come from inside the door. Loren even saw a man jump out the window and run away.
Her husband had only been in prison for a few days, and she was already being so blatant.
A few minutes later, Simone, having tidied herself up, opened the door, fawningly inviting Loren inside. Loren only felt a wave of disgust and had no intention of entering.
A sense of foreboding enveloped Simone. This time, she was truly terrified to the extreme.
