Miss Witch’s Devotion Has Gone… Twisted-Chapter 81: Wish

Chapter 81

"It's getting late, let's rest first, we can talk more tomorrow. Good night, Laila."
The inn had prepared two rooms for Loren and the others, one for Loren and his group, and the other for Laila—this was Loren's idea.
Just as he was about to step into the room, Anna stopped him:
"No way, us girls in one room, you boys in the other. You're a grown man, you don't seriously want to squeeze in with a bunch of little girls like us, do you?"
Although Loren really wanted to retort, "That's not what you said when you used to pester me to sleep with you before," he saw Anna frantically winking at him. She was giving Loren an opportunity to get closer to Laila.
He had no idea how Anna came up with such ideas. Sometimes Loren couldn't tell who was the older sister and who was the younger between Anna and Naclis. Naclis was indeed older in age, but far less mature than Anna. Plus, Naclis knew nothing, while Anna often understood things instantly and kept setting Loren up.
"......"
Loren couldn't argue with Anna's point, because on the surface, it was indeed just him and Laila who were male.
"Come on, stop being so fussy. What, can't you sleep without a familiar person by your side?"
Seeing Loren's lack of response, Laila simply pulled him into the room.
She just gave the attendants a disdainful glance and then slammed the door shut with force.
"Been on the train all day, we're all tired."
Laila stretched, intending to jump straight onto the bed. The bed was big enough that you could even have an orgy on it.
"Wait!"
Loren suddenly grabbed Laila. Under her puzzled gaze, Loren took out alcohol and sprayed it all over the room, then pulled out a new bedsheet from his backpack and spread it out.
"Alright."
"Why are you so fussy?"
That's what she said, but Laila still waited for Loren to change the sheets.
"Being cautious never hurts."
This was an inn specifically for receiving foreign dignitaries. It was very clean, and the sheets and everything were brand new, but Loren still felt a bit uncomfortable about the place. The filth littering the streets was still vivid in his mind.
On his orders, the room next door had also been thoroughly cleaned by Mirrorheart.
"Done."
The moment Loren finished, Laila jumped straight onto the bed, deliberately testing the mattress's bounce.
After lying down for a moment to get a feel, Laila got up again, took off her boots, revealing her fair, delicate little feet.
She wasn't tall, so her feet were also very small, just the right size for Loren to hold in one hand.
Having worn boots all day, her feet had been stuffy and sweaty, making them appear even paler.
Loren was grateful that witches were such perfect beings they didn't even produce body odor. Otherwise, the smell here would definitely be strong.
"Good night."
After taking off her shoes, Laila just flopped onto the bed, ready to sleep.
"Good night."
Loren blew out the lamp and lay down beside Laila. Neither of them took off their clothes when they slept.
But even long after the lights were out, Laila kept tossing and turning, unable to sleep.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing, it's just my first time sleeping with someone else. Not used to it."
Laila was still as blunt as ever. She lay on her side, looking at Loren. The moonlight shone on her face, making her green eyes appear even brighter.
It was just a shame that this world's moonlight was blood-red, making Laila look a bit eerie. In the end, Loren got up again to draw the curtains tightly shut.
He remembered Laila was like this the first time they slept together in the past too. Loren understood.
"Should I go sleep somewhere else? The sofa in the living room is pretty big."
"No need. I can even stay in a place like this thanks to you. It would be ungrateful to chase you away on top of that."
Laila grabbed the hem of Loren's clothes, stopping his train of thought.
The two lay together again, face to face. Feeling the atmosphere was a bit awkward, Loren turned over.
"Sorry."
Just as Loren closed his eyes, he suddenly heard Laila's apology.
"What for?"
"When you first got on the train, I didn't recognize who you were and cursed at you."
Actually, Laila never trusted other people's reputations. Just like the stuff ed in the newspapers, it was all whitewashed.
Like the new King of the Gedlan Kingdom the newspapers praised so much—Laila had met him before. He was nothing but a greedy scoundrel. Her Arcane Ability allowed her to see through a person very easily.
So when she saw through Loren, she felt guilty.
"Hey, we're bros, man."
Loren had already forgotten about that incident. He didn't expect Laila to still remember.
Laila also knew Loren wouldn't make a big deal out of it, but she felt she had to apologize.
"If all the important people in this world were like you, maybe this world would be a better place."
"Maybe."
Loren rolled over, resting his head on his hands, looking at the ceiling, and continued:
"This is a world of gods. What ordinary people can do is limited. If you really want to change this world..."
Hearing Loren's words, Laila's heartbeat suddenly started to race.
"Then go kill the gods. Drag all the deities down from their divine thrones. They are the root cause of this world's corruption."
From the first time he embraced Anna, Loren had set this goal: to slaughter all the gods.
"Can it... really be done?"
Laila tightened her grip on the gun at her waist. She was excited, but even she felt the hope was slim.
If Laila were to assassinate the Pope, she wouldn't even blink. But the gods were too far from them, so far it felt unreal.
She had heard of the methods of Angels and knew perfectly well that no matter how many of her there were, she wouldn't be a match for an Angel.
And Angels were merely messengers of the Orthodox Gods.
"It can be done."
Sometimes Loren also wondered what would really happen if the Outer Gods descended. Would They devour this world, or would They transform it into a paradise, or simply establish a utopia.
What each Outer God would do was probably different. The God of Greed, Pluto, might just eat this world directly, but other gods might not.
The one that left the deepest impression on Loren was the Pleasure God, Cassian. Its actions had no discernible logic. As long as It found you interesting, It would help you after you prayed.
This was also why players' prayers to It almost always worked. No one was more interesting than players.
But it wasn't without cost. After a prayer was answered, something Cassian found interesting would happen nearby.
The definition of 'interesting' was very broad. A happy ending was interesting, but some unexpected endings could also be interesting.
If you were lucky, Cassian might bless you and your loved ones to live happily ever after. But It might also just turn you into a cucumber.
More likely, though, Cassian would put a beautiful girl's face on your underwear. Then you'd never be able to take off that indestructible underwear, doomed to spend your whole life listening to the beautiful girl complain disdainfully about your increasingly foul smell.
