Miss Witch’s Devotion Has Gone… Twisted-Chapter 87: Treasure Chest

Chapter 87

When the Hall of Truth broadcast that sentence, a shackle suddenly appeared on Helen's ankle. The other end of the iron chain was connected to an iron ball, which made a screeching sound as it was dragged.
If a secret was a crime, the Hall of Truth would add a shackle for it.
Helen suddenly knelt on the ground, her pupils unfocused. She never imagined that the Hall of Truth would expose her biggest secret on the very first try.
"If any of you dare to speak of this, I guarantee you will be sentenced to death! The words of a death row inmate hold no credibility!"
"Ooh, I'm so scared."
Loren gave Helen the middle finger, taunting her.
He never took Helen seriously to begin with, but he never expected she had done something like this.
Well, Helen's wish was granted. She truly left a deep impression on Loren, just a deeply negative one.
Loren continued forward. Logically, when he reached the one-third point, the Hall of Truth should broadcast Loren's secret, but the hall remained completely silent.
"As expected."
This place could read minds, but it couldn't read the mind of the player behind the game character. Even though Loren had transmigrated, the effect of the Hall of Truth remained unchanged.
Loren casually strolled through the Hall of Truth, the corridor enveloped in silence.
At this moment, Helen seemed to have thrown caution to the wind, charging forward.
"My position was obtained through my family's connections."
"To climb the ranks, I caused the death of my superior during a mission."
With each secret revealed, a new shackle appeared on Helen's feet. Finally, dragging three iron balls, she touched the door at the end of the corridor.
The others still hadn't moved. Their thinking was simple: as long as everyone else left or died, they could expose their own secrets without any burden.
"Go ahead, Naclis, Laila. If you truly expose any unspeakable secrets, I will kill everyone here."
Loren's encouragement worked. Naclis also took a step forward.
"I find my feelings for the Master Mentor are growing deeper."
"I don't want other women getting close to the Master Mentor."
"I feel uneasy when I can't see the Master Mentor."
Hearing these things, Loren's expression remained unchanged as usual;
he already knew all this.
But Naclis was panicking beyond belief, her legs trembling. After walking through the corridor, she collapsed into Loren's arms.
"M-Master Mentor..."
Naclis covered her face, not knowing how to face Loren, utterly mortified.
"Rest if you're tired. We'll move on in a bit."
"What's there to be ashamed of... Mmm, I'll shut up."
Anna also walked over to Naclis's side, but after Naclis shot her a glare, Anna shut her mouth.
"Did you two come here to confess your feelings..."
Laila muttered sarcastically. Their so-called secrets weren't secrets at all;
anyone could see it.
However, Laila also began to ponder something. Loren's words just now bothered her greatly.
She never expected Loren would say something like "kill everyone" over such a matter. Those words were spoken for her sake, leaving Laila with a tangled mix of emotions in her heart.
And what secret could Naclis possibly have that would make Loren kill everyone? Could it be...
Laila thought of one possibility. She looked at Naclis and Anna;
they were both so beautiful, just like herself.
Could the secret be that they were all witches?
This was ultimately just a guess, but Laila's view of Loren underwent another subtle shift deep down.
Finally, Laila also stepped forward.
"What should I do, I've fallen for Loren."
Just as she reached the one-third point, Laila heard the Hall of Truth's broadcast.
Indeed, this was her true thought. But having it exposed filled Laila with extreme embarrassment. She would rather have her assassinations of certain nobles exposed.
"I'm so afraid Loren won't be able to accept the real me."
"I want to show my truest self to Loren."
Laila never expected her exposed secret would also be a confession to Loren. The person in question was still waiting for her up ahead. Instantly, Laila, just like Naclis, couldn't bring herself to face Loren.
"It's fine, good brother. No matter what the real you is like, I will accept you."
Loren put his arm around Laila's shoulder, giving her a thumbs-up.
Come to think of it, the first time Loren felt affection was from Laila. She was also the first person to like Loren.
Not as a witch, not as a woman, but as the first person to like Loren.
Although Laila suddenly felt a tightness in her rear end, she still pulled herself together, though she remained silent.
Once again, everyone joined hands. Upon touching the door at the corridor's end, they were teleported elsewhere. It was a door similar to the first floor's, only this time, the guardian was the complete form of "Doubt."
Most monsters in the Prison of Sin Spire were mechanic-based;
once you found the trick, they were easy to kill. Under the simultaneous barrage from the four of them, Doubt was quickly reduced to minced meat. Loren also found a new Sin Fragment from the corpse, and his level increased by 50%.
Once again ignoring treasure chests, the group arrived at the third floor.
Here, Loren encountered "Sloth." It still wasn't the complete form. It was like a spider, with limbs that were thin and long, propping up its entire body. Its body clung to the ceiling, its slender limbs struggling to support its frame.
When prey came beneath it, it would drop its abdomen, which was equipped with a rack, like a claw machine grabbing a prize, directly using its belly to scoop up the prey.
Sloth's weakness appeared to be its slender legs, but it was actually its tiny, almost invisible eyes on its head. Attacking other places didn't deal much effective damage, especially the legs, which were almost indestructible.
"Master Mentor, there's a treasure chest here?"
After killing this immature Sloth, Anna discovered a treasure chest in the corner. This wasn't the floor's final boss room.
"Treasure chests that aren't in the final boss room can be opened without Sin Fragments. This is the main method of obtaining rewards. For us to only encounter one now is a bit too unlucky..."
Loren felt this might be because he was leading the way, but he wouldn't trust anyone else to lead.
"You open it."
Loren had confidence in his luck—in his past life playing gacha games, he always hit the pity system. Therefore, Loren swore he would never play any game again where the gacha could go off-banner.
"Why is it a scroll?"
"Let me see."
Loren took the scroll Anna handed over and examined it. A magic spell was recorded on it.
"Sixth-tier magic, Sin-Burning Flames."
It wasn't a one-time-use Magic Scroll, but a scroll recording the method of using the magic.
This was a pleasant surprise. Among the various rewards from treasure chests, Sin-Burning Flames was considered among the highest tier.
"Anna's luck is this good..."
This magic would greatly enhance Loren's capabilities. Although Sin-Burning Flames wouldn't harm good people, anyone who could provoke killing intent in Loren definitely wasn't a good person.
