Chapter 92: Prepare your bags and leave
"Dad, please don’t do this!" Frida pleaded as she slammed her palms against door of Adam’s study.
"I swear I didn’t know the company would suffer so much. I merely wanted Sara to step down as its CEO. It was... I admit that I made a mistake, a terrible one, but I—I..." Her voice dissolved into a choked sob, her lips quivering violently, the confession she needed to utter dying unspoken in her throat.
"Leave!" Adam roared from inside his study.
Diego stepped forward from the shadow of the hallway archway. His hands were tucked casually into the pockets of his tailored trousers.
"Go to your room, Frida," he said. "You and Julia played a dirty game. You got caught up in the blowback. Now, stop crying and focus. You need to think of a plan to save yourself by tomorrow morning. Luca won’t spare you."
Frida snapped her head up. She swiped the back of her hand across her wet cheeks, keeping her sharp glare
"Are you scaring me, or are you actually helping me?" she challenged. "Brother, if this thing goes out, my name will be ruined. What will I do then? And I can’t think of anything. Did you see how Luca and his friend pinned me against the gunpoint? If I plan anything, he will do the same again. I have no idea what to do anymore."
"Just leave this country for now," Diego suggested.
"Just leave this country for now," Diego suggested.
"Are you two fools?" Adam’s voice thundered from behind them.
Both Diego and Frida spun around, the color draining from their faces as they confronted the wreckage of their father’s trust.
"Diego, what did you even learn all these years?" Adam’s voice dropped with scathing disappointment. "And then you stand here and say I discriminated against you while I supported Sara! At least she never plotted to run like a coward! I cannot believe that the two of you would betray me like this. And your mother..." He trailed off, shaking his head. "She did nothing in teaching you good values. All you three ever cultivated was jealousy."
Adam realised his decision to marry Marcella had been a grave mistake. He had believed she genuinely loved him, but the children she raised had systematically destroyed his legacy and stained his name.
He turned his focus back to Frida. "Your sister helped you build your fashion brand from nothing. Did you never feel a flicker of shame about your actions? You will declare tomorrow, in front of everyone, exactly what you did to Sara," Adam instructed, his tone brooking no debate.
"Dad, if we reveal the truth, the Picasso Family may not want Frida as their daughter-in-law," Diego stated in an attempt to protect his sister.
"It is better if she doesn’t marry into that family," Adam retorted. "Her evil schemes will only destroy my name further. And you, Diego, you will do anything to regain your image. However, heed me: do not use the wrong path this time. This is the last time I am forgiving you. Also, you will not receive a single penny from me. You will leave this house tomorrow morning. Return only when you achieve something that genuinely appeases my anger. That is the punishment you deserve."
As Adam turned to stride away, Frida rushed forward, grasping at the air where he stood. "Dad, please forgive me this time! I swear I won’t do anything like this again!"
Adam paused, his back still toward her. "No. There is no forgiveness for what you did. Sending your own boyfriend to Sara, manipulating him to date her, is the most pathetic and insidious thing I have ever heard. You played a vicious game with my eldest. You butchered my relationship with Sara. You should also prepare your bags and leave this house, if possible."
This time, Adam didn’t show any mercy to both of his stepchildren.

Sara carefully pulled the hot baking tray from the ove. She placed it gently onto the cooling rack on the stone counter before surveying the small batch of cupcakes she had prepared.
She then used the piping of chocolate cream, creating perfect swirls atop each cupcake. Resting the piping cone aside, she picked up a warm cupcake and took a small bite.
A warm smile of contentment finally graced her lips. As pulled the cupcake away, a smudge of dark cream just above her upper lip.
"I can’t believe they came out to be so perfect," Sara murmured to herself when Luca walked in with two wine bottles in his hands.
"Which one will be better?" Luca asked, holding up two bottles of wine, wanting her to pick one
"The right one," Sara replied. She took another blissful bite.
Luca couldn’t help but be drawn to her. He walked over, resting on the stone counter.
"Why are you eating alone?" He stopped right beside her, reaching his hand toward the cooling tray, but Sara was quicker. She delivered a playful, light slap to the back of his palm.
"Eat with the others, later," Sara whispered, her eyes sparkling. "I was merely tasting this one for quality control."
Then, a mischievous, daring idea sparked in her mind. She brought the remaining half of the cupcake closer to his lips, offering him a taste. "If you really want to taste, then you can have a small portion of this."
Luca opened his mouth, his eyes meeting hers, ready to take the bait. But Sara pulled the cupcake back at the last second, smoothly slipping the rest into her own mouth. She chewed slowly, eyes closed in exaggerated enjoyment, before opening them to tell him, mouth full, just how good it tasted.
When she finished, she brought the tip of her finger to her mouth that had a small smear of dark chocolate cream on it, to suck it clean.
Luca couldn’t resist the temptation she was showing in that moment. In one swift motion, he grasped her wrist, halting her hand just inches from her lips. His eyes never left hers as he leaned in and slowly licked the chocolate clean from her finger.
Sara’s breath hitched. Her heart immediately raced when she heard him say,
"That was delicious. Your lips carry some too."
Before she could stop him, his lips captured hers.
