Modern Cultivation : The Strongest Couple Bonded by Vampire System-Chapter 595 - 595: Planet Elyndra

Chapter 595

On Planet Elyndra in the Ravelin System, a huge prosperous city stood inside a dome.
Robots could be seen everywhere, taking care of cleaning and maintenance.
Humans walked around.
Some were busy with their family.
Others were busy with their daily life.
White snow fell from the air, creating a holiday atmosphere.
A middle-aged man with gray hair walked down the street, looking toward a tree decorated with colored lights.
Beside him, a blonde woman linked her arm with his.
Her head rested against his shoulder.
If someone saw them, they would think the man was rich, while the woman was a gold digger.
But they were Alex and Mingyue.
"I told you to disguise as a middle-aged woman. Why do you look like that?" Alex said.
Mingyue raised her chin.
"What do you mean? Even if I grew older, I will still be a beauty."
Alex's lips twitched.
"Honestly, I'm surprised you wanted to come with me here," he said.
"I thought you were enjoying playing as a GM in the virtual world."
"I only enjoy it if there's a challenge," Mingyue said.
"Last time, I could test my skill fighting Kageyasha.
But now, I only create chaos everywhere while spewing nonsense."
"Well, for them, that nonsense is their reality," Alex said.
"That's why I feel disconnected," Mingyue replied.
"It's like entering a fake world while you are the only one who knows the truth."
"Aren't you with Aira?" Alex asked.
"Yes, but you get what I mean," Mingyue said.
Alex let out a chuckle and shook his head.
"How's the situation there?" he asked.
"The war is progressing," Mingyue said.
"The new power system is spreading. People are leaving their religions and kingdoms and forming their own factions."
"I see. How about them?" Alex asked.
"Jack's mother is fine," Mingyue said.
"I moved her to another server to take care of those who died without any more resurrection."
"What explanation did you give her?" Alex asked.
The server was created for those who had already died.
It worked like an afterlife, to prepare them to live in Edonia.
"I let her sleep, then wake up in the afterlife," Mingyue said.
"As for the explanation, Aira handled it."
They passed through the road and entered a plaza with a grand fountain in the middle.
Mingyue looked around.
"So what are we doing here?" she asked. "Crashing their party?"
"I need humans for test subjects," Alex said.
"So who is a better target than those parasites? A
t least I will give them a chance to contribute to humanity."
Mingyue chuckled.
"They will be thrilled if they know what's coming," she said.
They took a seat on a bench, studying their surroundings.
The plaza was wide and clean, the ground made of smooth stone that reflected the lights from above.
A large tree stood near the fountain.
Robots could be seen everywhere.
One rolled along the edge of the fountain, brushing away thin layers of ice before they could form.
Another carried a tray of warm drinks, stopping whenever a child raised their hand.
A taller unit adjusted broken decorations with steady arms, then scanned the area to check if anything else was out of place.
Around them, people spoke in relaxed voices.
"They say the Governor's family is attending tonight."
"I heard the Council will announce new funding for the dome expansion."
"Stop talking about politics. Just enjoy the holiday."
"Look at the snow. My daughter has never seen real snow before."
"Because it's not real snow," someone replied, laughing.
Mingyue's eyes followed the falling flakes for a moment.
"What is the occasion?" she asked.
Alex glanced up at the lights, then back at the crowd.
"Christmas," he said.
Mingyue blinked once.
"Christmas?" she repeated, like she was testing the word.
"It's an old tradition," Alex said.
"A holiday. People gather at night.
They eat, drink, and exchange gifts"
Mingyue's mouth curved slightly.
"It's very different compared to Ainode," she said. "I can feel it. Everyone here has learned mana cultivation, or they are awakeners."
Alex's eyes narrowed.
"The people they left behind became batteries," he said. "They regressed back to normal humans. Only a few live outside the capsules, and those became slaves for the Mechalyte."
"So all of them are traitors?" Mingyue asked.
Alex did not answer right away.
He pointed at the kids playing on the side.
"Their ancestors helped turn their own species into slaves," Alex said. "They sold their own people for benefits. Then they brought their friends and family here as a reward, living well in this utopia."
Alex had already surveyed the city.
People worked only because they wanted something to do.
Meals and entertainment were given out for free.
They did not pay for housing.
They only enjoyed their lives.
This utopia was paid for with other people's blood.
Mingyue followed his finger and looked at the kids again.
"So that child is a traitor?" she asked.
Mingyue frowned. She thought for a moment, then shook her head.
"It's not him who did it," she said. "It's his ancestors. So he's not at fault."
"You're right," Alex said. "But what do you think will happen to these people after we take over everything?"
Mingyue stayed silent.
Alex continued.
"How do you think the freed people will react if they learn the truth?" he asked.
Mingyue's tone turned colder.
"It's human nature to find someone to blame," she said. "They will find a justification to make these people suffer."
Alex nodded.
"As for me, I will make the leaders who are still alive today pay," he said. "For their descendants, and for everyone here, I will send them to live on the border."
He pointed upward, toward the dome edge where the city lights faded into darkness.
"Inside a fortress on the frontline," he said. "They will guard the system."
"Even the children?" Mingyue asked.
"Yes," Alex said. "Guarding the border may be harsh, but it's better than mixing them with everyone else."
Mingyue's brows tightened.
"You already wrote a fake story for the people in the tubes, so they can accept reality," she said. "You can write another one and let these people mix too."
"Those stories work for people who come out of capsules," Alex said. "But the Resistance and Avalanche will know the truth."
He paused.
"One of them will hate these people no matter what I do," he said. "That hatred will spread."
"So you want to erase that hatred by putting them in a dangerous place," Mingyue said.
Alex nodded.
"Yes," he said. "But it won't be truly dangerous. The Mechalyte will protect the border. "
