Modern Cultivation : The Strongest Couple Bonded by Vampire System-Chapter 601 - 601: Space Spear

Chapter 601

"Let's make a deal. You cannot kill me, and I cannot kill you too.
I also have something you need."
"What you have is only more information on the Mechalyte," Alex said.
"That's not enough for what you've done."
"I see," Sigma replied. "Then I was mistaken. I should have provided full context.
I thought you already knew I also have information on the Human Progenitor, the Dragon Progenitor, the situation of the universe, and more importantly, information on Baykehe's avatar."
Each word made Alex's frown deepen.
That was not information someone could get easily.
Progenitors and primordials were top-level secrets.
'The only way he learned it is if he found clues from the Association.'
Since his father, Edward, had been investigating them, there was a chance some traces were left inside the Association archives.
Otherwise, Alex did not believe Sigma could get this from the Mechalyte.
"What a bluff," Alex said. "What could you know about them that I don't know?"
Sigma fell silent.
It looked like it was calculating how much to reveal.
SLASH!
Mingyue slashed again.
The frost wave was deflected, thrown into another direction by the space field.
She raised her palm.
An ice lotus formed, then floated in the air.
One, two, three, four, five.
It kept going until there were eight lotus flowers.
They stopped midair, surrounding Sigma.
Ice spread through each lotus.
The patterns linked together, forming a rigid cage.
In the next moment, the cage sealed shut.
Sigma was locked inside a thick ice cube.
Mingyue's eyes turned cold.
Her qi surged, and the ice cube's temperature dropped again.
A second layer formed.
Then a third.
Lotus after lotus stacked on top of each other, wrapping the cube like armor.
The temperature sank toward absolute zero.
For the first time, Sigma moved.
The carving on its finger lit up.
The space field trembled, then tightened, like a net being pulled.
Crack.
A thin line appeared on the ice cube.
Mingyue's eyebrows twitched.
She poured more power into the lotus layers, forcing the freeze to keep spreading.
Sigma's voice came out from inside the cube, still steady.
"Cold is weaker than space based power."
BOOM!
The space around the cube folded inward.
The ice shattered because the distance inside the cube was twisted.
The structure broke under its own pressure.
Shards of ice exploded outward like glass.
Mingyue stepped forward and swung her sword.
A second wave of frost followed, trying to seal the cracks before Sigma could stabilize the field again.
Alex moved at the same time.
His rune formation expanded, trying to crack Sigma's space protection before the carving could repair it.
The barrier flickered.
Sigma's finger moved, The symbol sharpened.
The barrier turned solid again.
BAM!
Mingyue's slash was deflected once more, but this time she did not chase the rebound.
She shifted her stance and aimed at the distortion point itself, cutting where the space bent.
Alex's eyes narrowed.
'Just what is he using to fix this barrier faster than my rune?
I don't believe he has infinite energy.'
Swoosh!!!
Mingyue's sword pressed down against the crack.
She gathered qi into her feet, then pushed forward.
The blade did not slide away this time.
It jammed into the barrier like a wedge.
The space around the sword vibrated.
The distortion point tried to fold, trying to throw the blade out.
Mingyue clenched her teeth and held it there.
Alex moved. He appeared beside her and raised his hammer.
BAM!
The hammer struck near the crack.
It hit the distortion point itself.
The barrier rippled.
Sigma's finger symbol flickered again, repairing the weak spot faster than Alex expected.
But this time, it was not fully fixed.
Mingyue's sword was still stuck inside like a nail.
The barrier started to buckle.
BAM!
Alex struck again, closer.
The crack widened for a breath.
A gap appeared.
Mingyue pushed, Her sword slid forward and passed through the barrier.
It stopped right after it crossed, like it hit a wall inside the wall.
The space barrier's strength was still too strong.
It would not let her reach Sigma's body.
But that was enough for her.
Mingyue's mouth curved into a smile.
Ice qi gathered at the tip of her sword.
It spun in tight circles, then expanded.
The ice was started taking shape.
A fox formed from frost and intent.
Its fur looked like flowing mist.
Its eyes were sharp and alive.
"Grooarrrr!!!"
Then it leaped toward Sigma.
Sigma's red eyes blinked once.
Another pattern on his finger flickered.
Distortion appear around it.
He swung his hand, The air split.
A space cut sliced through the fox like a knife through butter.
Boom!
The ice fox exploded into a rain of shards.
But the shards did not scatter randomly.
They stabbed into the space around Sigma from the inside, biting at the barrier where it had to maintain shape.
The barrier shook.
Crack.
The space layer collapsed inward.
Then it imploded.
A shockwave burst out and slammed into Alex and Mingyue.
Both of them were pushed back.
Their feet dragged across the roof, leaving long grooves in the metal surface.
Alex steadied himself, hammer still in hand.
Mingyue lifted her sword again.
They finally found away to breach sigma defense.
The smoke dispersed.
Sigma could be seen without any damage.
He stood there, and the space barrier flickered alive again.
'It seems each symbol on his finger is used to manipulate space energy.
He just used it to create some kind of space blade.
Now the question is, can he do both at the same time?
And what other forms can he shape space energy into?'
The answer arrived quickly.
Another symbol flickered.
Sigma raised his finger upward.
The space above him twisted.
Then he moved his finger down like he was drawing a line in the air.
"Space Slicer."
The area around Alex and Mingyue distorted.
It was not one attack.
It was dozens of thin cuts, coming from different angles.
Alex reacted instantly.
He grabbed Mingyue's waist and pulled her close, putting their backs against each other.
Swosh!
Mingyue's sword cut through a distorted line.
The blade met something invisible and sparks of frozen mist burst out.
BAM!
Alex's hammer slammed into another cut.
A deep shockwave rolled out, forcing the space line to break apart like glass.
CLANG!
A third cut came from above.
Mingyue raised her sword and blocked.
The impact sent a ringing sound through the air, like metal striking metal, even though nothing was there.
More cuts arrived.
Left, right, behind, then under their feet.
Alex stomped.
A rune flashed under his sole and the ground hardened for a moment, stopping a slice that tried to split the surface.
Mingyue spun, her sword drawing a cold arc.
Frost spread into the air, revealing the slicers for a split second as faint ripples.
Alex followed that opening.
He moved his hammer in short, quick strikes, smashing each ripple before it reached them.
If it was anyone else, they would already be dead without understanding what killed them.
But they were Alex and Mingyue.
They were the progenitor heir.
