The Felidaeans ran in blind panic.
They only saw the sky flashing and the ground shaking.
Some grabbed their children and ran without looking back.
Wyverns circled uneasily, pulled back by instinct.
Saryx smiled wider as he fought, like he enjoyed this more than the hunt.
He disappeared again.
Kael's eyes narrowed, already predicting the angle.
Saryx reappeared behind him and drove a punch toward the back of Kael's head.
Kael tilted his head a fraction.
The fist grazed his hair and missed the skull.
Kael spun and slammed his palm into Saryx's chest.
BOOM!!!
Saryx was pushed back. His scales sparked with faint light, absorbing part of the force.
He laughed. "Good. Seem the rumour is true."
Kael's voice stayed even. "You jest Prince."
Saryx's eyes sharpened. "But you still hide a lot, show me."
He rushed in again.
This time, Saryx fought more seriously. His movements became faster.

He rushed in again.
This time, Saryx fought more seriously. His movements became faster.
Kael felt it at once.
The pressure changed.
The air around Saryx thickened, like the sky itself was being squeezed.
Saryx pulled his hand back.
Lightning gathered on his knuckles. It condensed into small spheres, each one no bigger than a fist.
He flicked his wrist.
The first sphere shot out.
It crossed the distance in a blink and exploded behind Kael.
BOOM!!!
A mountain ridge in the far distance lit up for a moment, then shattered. Rock and dust erupted upward like a volcano, then collapsed into a rolling cloud.
Kael's pupils shrank.
Saryx fired again.
A second compressed lightning sphere shoot past Kael's shoulder and slammed into another peak.
BOOM!!!
The peak split in half.
The top half slid down like it had been cut with a blade.
Saryx did not stop.
He fired left.
He fired right.
Each projectile was small, but the impact was absurd.
The sky kept flashing.
Below, the forest shook like it was being pounded by invisible fists.
Trees bent and snapped.
The ground cracked open, and dust rose in waves.
The Felidaeans screamed louder and ran until their lungs burned.
Kael's frown.
He could not let those shots keep landing.
He didn't care about the felidaen's life, but if this keep going he will fail his quota, and worst case the whole planet will be decimated.
Kael vanished.
Saryx's eyes followed the blur, amused.
Kael appeared above Saryx and drove his spear downward, aiming for the shoulder.
Saryx raised a forearm and caught it.
The spear tip stopped against scales.
BAM!
Space warped for a breath.
Saryx grinned.
Kael twisted his wrist and pulled back, turning the thrust into a sweep.
Saryx leaned back and let the spear pass, then fired a lightning sphere at point-blank range.
Kael's eyes hardened.
He punched the sphere.
BOOM!!!
The lightning explosion detonated between them.
For a moment, the sky became pure white.
Kael's body was thrown back, armor crackling with residual light.
He flipped once, then steadied himself.
Saryx shot forward through the fading light like a predator.
His fist came quick.
Kael blocked.
BAM!!!
Saryx's knee rose.
Kael twisted away.
A lightning sphere formed in Saryx's palm and fired downward without even looking.
BOOM!!!
The forest below was ripped open.
A huge crater formed, dirt and rock blasting outward in a ring.
The shockwave hit the running Felidaeans and tossed them like leaves.
Some rolled through mud. Some hit trees and did not move.
Kael's eyes turned colder.
He flashed in front of Saryx, spear spinning.
"Gold Rift Thrust."
The spear moved in three fast lines, each one tearing the air.
Saryx blocked two.
The third scraped across his chest and drew a thin line of blood.
The dragon prince's grin faded for half a breath.
Then he laughed louder.
"Yes," he said, eyes bright. "That's it."
Lightning surged around him again, thicker this time.
It wrapped his arms, crawled along his horns, and snapped across his shoulders like a chains.
He fired spheres in a rapid shot now.
Kael disappeared and reappeared between them, moving in short bursts, forcing each shot to miss by a hair.
But Saryx did not care where they landed.
BOOM!!!
A distant ridge shattered.
BOOM!!!
Another mountain split.
BOOM!!!
A whole slope collapsed and turned into a dust storm.
Kael pushed closer, trying to close the distance.
Saryx countered by turning the lightning into a blade.
A thin spear of compressed thunder formed along his forearm.
He slashed.
Kael raised his spear to block.
CRACK!!!
The clash sent a shockwave straight down.
The trees below flattened again, and the cratered ground trembled like it wanted to break apart.
They locked for a breath, spear against thunder-blade, eyes inches apart.
Saryx smiled. "You passed."
Kael's voice was cold. "What do you mean prince?"
Saryx's smile widened. "We Dragon won't make a deal with a weakling."
Then he fired another compressed lightning sphere.
SWOOSH!!!
It shot past him, straight toward the ground.
Kael's eyes widened.
He vanished instantly, chasing the projectile.
That shot was aimed at his base. If it hit, he would have a lot of problems.
"You should let it hit, Kael."
"Don't joke around, Prince," Kael said, still moving toward the projectile.
But Saryx's next words made him pause.
"For someone like you, isn't staying as a general a waste of talent?"
Saryx's voice was calm, almost casual.
"Don't you want to rise higher? I have a proposal."
