Chapter 217: Chapter 216: Are You Crying?
Ethan Grant didn’t believe his words. Last time, Carter Lockwood’s car was hit by Anna Morgan’s, and he didn’t believe that Carter hadn’t gotten Anna’s contact information.
"Then Sean and I want it."
After he said this, Carter quickly responded.
"I’ll send it to you!"
Not long after Ethan hung up the phone, Carter sent Anna Morgan’s phone number.
Serena Sullivan returned to the room, sitting in her wheelchair, looking out at the scenery. Five minutes ago, Aunt Chen called, saying the old man had been resuscitated, but he couldn’t take any more shocks.
Serena asked Aunt Chen to watch over him more, waiting for Claire Sullivan and them to leave, and then she’d go over.
She was afraid of another argument with Claire Sullivan, upsetting her grandfather.
The sound of knocking came from the door, but Serena didn’t move; she had locked the door from the inside.
"I’m not hungry, just want to rest a bit more."
She said calmly, hearing Anna’s voice filtering through.
"Serena, it’s me."
Serena was taken aback. Why had Anna come over?
She wheeled herself over to open the door and saw Anna quickly come in, noticing Ethan peeking in. She hurriedly closed the door and locked it again.
"That scumbag Ethan wants to eavesdrop on our conversation!"
Anna said with a laugh. Serena noticed Ethan’s presence but didn’t say anything.
The room quieted down. Anna crouched in front of Serena, usually boisterous, but at this moment, she quietly gazed at Serena, making it impossible for any subtle change in Serena’s expression to escape her eyes.
"Serena, you stopped crying!"
Anna said softly. Ethan called her, only asking her to check on Serena, but she sensed something was wrong with Serena.
Seeing Serena had locked the door, her eyes red, Anna was even more certain that someone had bullied Serena.
"That scumbag Ethan, I want to beat him up."
Anna assumed it was Ethan who had upset Serena.
"It wasn’t him!"
Serena held Anna’s hand. With Anna here, her mood lifted, "You couldn’t beat him anyway."
Serena said, a smile curling on her lips.
"I could get Finn Chandler to beat him."
"Finn Chandler can’t beat him either!"
In a fight, neither Finn nor Anna could match Ethan.
"Fine, fine, he’s the best at fighting."
Seeing a smile on Serena’s face, Anna paused, looked up at Serena, and gently asked, "What’s wrong?"
The smile at the corner of Serena’s mouth faltered for a moment, but she quickly adjusted.
"Claire Sullivan said my birth wasn’t welcomed."
When she said this, Anna noticeably saw Serena’s eyes redden again, her tone growing softer and softer.
"Don’t listen to her words."
Anna said loudly, angrily.
Claire Sullivan wasn’t even as good as Finn’s mom. At least Mrs. Chambers was grateful for having Finn.
But Serena?
Not being valued by her own parents, being rejected by them — that feeling was truly like being abandoned by more than half the world.
"She also said..." Serena’s mouth tightened again, a smile appeared but didn’t reach her eyes.
"When she was pregnant with me, that man broke up with her and told her to abort me."
"Said my arrival wasn’t welcomed by anyone!"
"She regrets giving birth to me."
