Chapter 245: Chapter 244: He’s Not Good Enough for You
"He’s not good enough for you!"
The cold voice lacked any warmth, yet somehow, Anna Morgan found it comforting.
She looked up; the usually intimidating expressionless face wasn’t so scary at the moment.
"Thank you for helping Serena just now,"
Anna Morgan replied, and Carter Lockwood responded with a soft "hmm." He looked at her more gently than he ever looked at anyone, and his lips almost curled into a rare smile, but then Anna added two words.
"Uncle!"
Uncle!
Carter’s eyes instantly turned cold; his expressionless face darkened, causing Anna to lower her head.
Uncle Yama is truly Uncle Yama; even a second more with him and her weak heart couldn’t take it.
She better run quickly.
"Uncle, I have something to do, so I’ll leave now."
Anna said, seeming to slip away quickly, vanishing into thin air.
Watching the little Morgan girl get scared away again, Carter irritably took out a cigarette. How on earth was he supposed to win this little girl’s heart!
This question had troubled him year after year, and his emotional intelligence bore no sign of improvement.
The only thing that seemed okay was...
As Carter smoked, he heard intermittent sobbing from behind, wondering when his foolish, brainless nephew would finally win over Zoe Quinn.
Anna ran out and saw Ethan Grant pushing Serena Sullivan towards the car.
"Serena!"
She walked over joyfully and called out.
Ethan Grant stopped and turned Serena around to face Anna.
"Mr. Grant!"
In light of Ethan Grant siding with Serena today, Anna greeted him.
"Eldest Miss Monroe."
Ethan Grant politely replied.
If Finn Chandler were here, Ethan Grant wouldn’t be speaking so politely.
"Mr. Grant, you’re really handsome today!"
Anna complimented with a smile.
Being praised for his looks, especially by Serena’s best friend, made Ethan Grant unconsciously adjust his suit, a smile appearing on his thick-skinned face.
"Thank you!"
"Serena picked it!"
Serena felt embarrassed just hearing it.
"No wonder you look so handsome!"
Anna praised again.
Ethan Grant was undeniably handsome and looked good in anything, but this outfit actually downgraded his looks, especially with pants that were too short, making him look odd.
Today’s look surely made him the subject of secret ridicule by many.
However, his background meant no one dared to say anything to his face.
"Are you taking Serena out?"
Ethan Grant followed up.
His ego stroke made him happy, thinking Serena needed more friends like Eldest Miss Monroe, rather than a pretty boy like Finn Chandler!
Anna did intend to; she found that Ethan Grant was not only good-looking but also quite approachable.
"Thank you, Mr. Grant!"
Anna said happily as she went over to take over the wheelchair from Ethan Grant. "I’ll take Serena with me then."
"Okay."
Ethan Grant nodded, looking at Serena in the wheelchair, and said, "Call me when you’re coming back!"
Serena didn’t respond and was pushed away by Anna.
As they headed to Anna’s car, Serena sighed helplessly.
"What’s wrong, Serena?"
The two decided on her plans with just a few words, without even asking if she wanted to go.
"I’m calling Finn, having her join us."
"It’s been so long since the three of us had a meal and drinks together."
Anna said happily as she pushed Serena into the car.
