Chapter 155: Chapter 155: Possessiveness Erupts, He Publicly Protects Her
Sebastian Ford couldn’t control his gaze, as if deeply captivated by her.
However, his presence here drew everyone’s attention, so he had to remain calm and restrained.
As he stepped inside, he took a deep breath, regaining his calmness with a hint of confusion.
"Father, what happened?"
Sebastian slowed his pace noticeably as he passed by Eleanor Valerius, who was kneeling.
Suddenly, Eleanor held her breath, her back rigid with tension.
How could she not feel fear deep inside?
But when she heard Sebastian’s voice and felt his familiar presence pass by.
It was like a sense of safety that she wouldn’t fear even if she fell into an abyss.
Yet it was only the intimacy of just brushing past him.
Sebastian’s pause had to continue moving forward.
In the end, all Eleanor could see in her eyes was the vast distance of his high status.
"Sebastian, didn’t you watch the news?"
Sophia Ford, sitting nearby, asked hintingly, "I thought you usually care about the Valerius Family matters, why didn’t Eleanor Valerius come crying to you today but instead came to the Ford Family to file a complaint?"
"I also care about the younger members of the Ford Family, hasn’t Julian’s punishment ended yet?"
Sebastian retorted sharply.
This angered Sophia, her face turned ugly, but it managed to divert suspicion away from him and Eleanor.
"Pfft, I almost forgot if you hadn’t mentioned, Julian is still learning the family rules, big sister should take more time to educate the children."
Byron Ford was gloating; no matter who got into trouble, he’d stomp on them.
"You two uncles need not worry, Julian has realized his mistake and will be released once he corrects it."
This was why Sophia couldn’t lift her head in front of her father, thankfully she still had her obedient daughter, Julia Ford.
Sebastian didn’t care at all; Eleanor was all he had in his eyes.
He sat in the right main seat, lightly furrowed brows, not knowing how long Eleanor had been kneeling.
"I’ve been dealing with important business these past two days and haven’t watched the news."
Sebastian’s voice was deep, his dark eyes reflecting Eleanor’s figure, asking cryptically, "What’s going on?"
He waited all day, yet Eleanor never came to him.
Didn’t she stop to think about protecting herself first when she went mad seeking revenge?
"Uncle, this is the piece of news, last night Ivy Valerius died."
Julia Ford stood up, handing over a tablet.
In her world, she had never faced such dark events, her frightened reaction was the only one that wasn’t indifferent among those present.
"These girls are so pitiful, Eleanor just brought evidence to accuse Mrs. Croft of being the mastermind behind the scenes and said the Valerius Family also had a stake. So Ivy Valerius was murdered, she wants grandpa to do justice for Ivy."
Sebastian lowered his gaze, looking at the news , recalling Eleanor’s hysteria last night.
The cries and pleas that could still soften his heart.
"Julia, I know you’re really kind-hearted, but don’t be easily misled by the news."
Sophia had always despised the Valerius Family clinging to the Ford Family’s kinship, taking this opportunity to make a clear distinction, she said, "Father, regardless of whether this matter is related to the Valerius Family or not, it should have no connection with the Ford Family, our family’s reputation cannot be affected by such negative influences."
Mr. Ford seemed to be pondering, sipping tea as he asked, "Sebastian, you’re the head of the Ford Family, what do you say?"
"Uncle, if it’s true, please help her..."
Julia stood on Eleanor’s side for the first time.
Yet, Sophia immediately stopped her, righteously refusing: "Sebastian, the way to handle this matter is very clear. The police haven’t even filed a case. Having evidence from Eleanor holds no significance, the Ford Family shouldn’t get involved in such a trivial matter, right?"
"I agree with big sister, the issue with the Valerius Family should be suppressed rather than publicly exposed."
Byron was equally indifferent.
For a moment, the pressure of choice weighed down on Sebastian’s silence.
"Eleanor Valerius, do you have anything else to say?"
He struggled to keep his voice steady.
Their eyes met.
He was reminding her that she was using the wrong approach.
If she came to him for help, he could clandestinely help her settle the score.
But Eleanor’s reddened eyes signalled she didn’t want to.
She thought Ivy Valerius was too aggrieved, so she would expose everything loudly, regardless of the consequences.
"The evidence I have is all true. I ask the Ford Family, for the sake of my father, Ethan Valerius, to seek justice for my second sister, Ivy Valerius!"
Eleanor knelt there, the pain in her knees numbed.
She knew the Ford Family couldn’t be her savior.
She couldn’t unjustly ask Sebastian to favor helping her due to their relationship, disregarding his status as the family head.
Most importantly, Sebastian wouldn’t do that for her.
"Grandpa, I’m willing to personally that my mother Regina Jennings and Mrs. Croft are the ones behind the beauty salon incident."
Eleanor deliberately made the complaint openly to Mr. Ford.
Since it was the power games of the elite, the Ford Family had to be the ultimate adjudicator.
"Can you bear the consequences?"
Mr. Ford asked her solemnly.
"I can."
In everyone’s eyes, Eleanor knelt as if she were the sharpest blade.
No one could understand, no one was willing to understand.
Who had the right to say forgiveness on behalf of the victims? That was just unemotional indifference from atop high.
She didn’t want to stay silent, she was the only surviving voice for her elder and second sister.
"Enough!"
Sebastian suddenly reprimanded coldly.
He guessed Eleanor would stand up, exposing the scars, becoming the evidence to incriminate the Valerius Family.
She could use the public opinion to avenge Ivy, but she would also be stripped bare by the same opinion, her reputation destroyed.
To Eleanor, this was a worthwhile sacrifice, but he disagreed.
He admitted he didn’t have much emotion or kindness, he only cared about her, nothing else mattered.
"Since the evidence is true, I will request with the Ford Family’s name for the police to file an investigation."
Sebastian furrowed his brows sharply.
He wouldn’t allow Eleanor to ruin herself, she belonged to him!
When he finished speaking, everyone was shocked and baffled by Sebastian’s decision.
"Sebastian, do you know what you’re saying?"
Sophia widened her eyes, questioning, "How can the Ford Family get involved in the investigation of the Valerius Family’s scandal? If Ethan was alive, knowing the Valerius Family would affect the Ford Family’s reputation, he would surely sacrifice the individual to save the whole.
You actually made such an irrational decision based solely on what Eleanor said, are you helping the Valerius Family or Eleanor?"
"Sebastian, isn’t putting the Ford Family’s greater interests first your principle?"
Even Byron questioned Sebastian.
For the first time, Sebastian seemed to make a decision error in their eyes.
He clashed the backlash of public opinion onto himself.
At that moment, Eleanor’s gaze quivered as she looked at Sebastian.
She came seeking grandpa because she didn’t want to drag him down.
"Grandpa, please make the decision."
Eleanor kowtowed heavily in plea.
Her attitude was about reclaiming the consequences she should bear.
Suddenly, Sebastian was infuriated to the point of losing control, standing up.
"I decide the matters of the Ford Family, if you have requests, come to me!"
Eleanor didn’t want to ask him for help, for the same reason she drove him away last night.
But Sebastian was angry at her for being so understanding.
Why not push him? Instead, she pressured herself!
At this moment, Sophia and Byron both grew increasingly suspicious of his reaction.
"Why do you insist on helping Eleanor Valerius? This seems to be beyond an uncle-niece relationship, doesn’t it?"
Sebastian’s partiality was a flaw, like a small spark potentially setting a prairie on fire.
Unbeknownst, the secret ambiguous affair between Eleanor and Sebastian was about to be discovered by the Ford Family?!
