Chapter 3: Chapter 3: She Pretends to Be Obedient, I Was Wrong
Eleanor Valerius’s body was trembling slightly.
"I’m not..."
Sebastian Ford had no patience to listen to her deny with lies, narrowing his eyes dangerously, as his other hand maliciously tested her with punishment.
Pain from being pinched made Eleanor involuntarily emit a sound from her mouth.
"I’d never mistake your voice. Last night you knew it was me, and you still dared to climb into my bed. Who instructed you?"
Sebastian Ford was no stranger to schemes against him.
Previously, his second brother had tried to place various women by his side, none succeeded.
The motive for Eleanor landing in his bed the first night after he returned to the country was suspicious.
"Think carefully before you answer, you only have one chance to respond."
Eleanor found herself in Sebastian Ford’s grip, threatened doubly.
He was the lofty controller, and she was a lamb at his mercy.
The most feared in the Ford Family was Third Master Sebastian Ford; inviting his involvement was a path to survival, yet now it seemed a road to demise.
"I didn’t do it on purpose..."
In the span of seconds, Eleanor began to cry pitifully.
She couldn’t be exposed here that they’d slept together!
Or she’d be seen as the vile woman who seduced Master Ford, and if the Lancaster Family broke off the engagement, her mother would certainly cut off her sister’s medication funding.
"I got drunk at the cruise auction last night, I didn’t know how I ended up in your room... How could I dare do such a thing, I’m really scared... Please, don’t make last night’s events public..."
Eleanor could never admit she schemed against him last night!
Sebastian lowered his gaze, scrutinizing her, the emotions in his eyes unreadable.
"Oh? So you entered the wrong room because you were drunk?"
He didn’t believe her.
"I went with Jenson last night, how could I do such a thing."
Eleanor cried until her nose turned red, sobbing in a lowered voice: "I still have to marry Jenson, become the Young Madam of the Lancaster Family, I cannot let down my mother’s training of me. I don’t want to ruin my elite lifestyle, this is my lifelong happiness..."
After listening to her explanation, Sebastian’s eyes surprisingly showed disappointed anger.
"Tsk, just three years gone, the Eleanor who dared to dance on rooftops is still unable to escape being raised uselessly by Regina Jennings."
Aethelgard’s reputation regarding the Valerius daughters was unspeakable, and Eleanor, as the third Miss of the Valerius Family, was beautiful and famous among the elite circles.
Yet last night, he personally witnessed the purity of this woman.
He rarely had any interest.
He once thought Eleanor’s resolve back then might let her preserve herself within the Valerius Family, even suspected last night was intentional.
In the end, she was merely a beautiful toy, tamed into soullessness.
Eleanor looked tearfully at Sebastian.
She was stunned.
Three years ago, barely eighteen, Regina Jennings took her to a Ford Family banquet.
Wearing a red dress, she was the most dazzling presence at the event, her mother demanded she perform a dance, earning rapturous applause.
But the truth she accidentally heard that night began her nightmare.
Regina Jennings was showcasing a commodity waiting for a buyer; in other people’s eyes, she was a plaything one could take home by spending money. Desperate to escape, she realized she was already chained.
That night, she secretly climbed to the rooftop, dancing under the dark sky.
It was her revolt against her mother, against becoming a plaything.
She always thought no one saw, yet unexpectedly, Sebastian had seen her.
Death came with having secrets discovered!
"My mother’s kindness in raising me cannot be repaid, I don’t want one mistake to ruin my goal of marrying into a wealthy family, please let me go, I really admit my fault."
Eleanor cried and pleaded.
She rarely met Sebastian, not understanding this dangerous man.
Suddenly, a knock sounded.
"Miss Valerius, Mrs. Valerius asked me to remind you to get ready quickly."
Outside was the maid urging her.
Eleanor’s response turned more alarmed; Sebastian had no intention of letting her go.
"What must I do for you to keep my secret? I must marry into the Lancaster Family, become Mrs. Lancaster. I have nothing to give you, if I accompany you another time, will you let me go?"
Eleanor observed Sebastian’s reaction, boldly reaching out to undo his belt.
At this instant, anger flashed in Sebastian’s eyes.
The slight interest evaporated seeing Eleanor’s current depraved state, leaving him uninterested.
He let go disdainfully, not even willing to waste strength to harm her.
"Don’t overestimate the worth of your body."
Leaving Eleanor with disheveled clothes, sobbing on the ground, Sebastian left in disappointment.
However, Eleanor’s tears stopped abruptly, enduring the pain he left her with, quickly dressed in her dancing dress and exited.
But Regina informed her there was no need to perform.
Outwardly regretful Eleanor let out a breath of relief.
She had deceived Sebastian.
Wanting to play with fire yet avoid being burnt needed careful consideration.
But for one as dangerous as Sebastian, could she truly manage?
...
"Vex" was Aethelgard’s most expensive nightclub.
Eleanor donned a dance dress with little fabric and makeup that masked her natural beauty, golden wig, blue lenses, and a beaded veil for hiding.
This night, she had to dance here to earn money.
Flora Vaughn walked in wearing a sexy uniform, seeing her, apologized: "Eleanor, sorry, I introduced you to work here, it was supposed to be playing piano, but the boss said customers don’t like plain performances, making you dance is such a grievance."
"Not really a grievance, nowhere else can I earn this much from a side job, besides, it’s not as if I’m dancing erotically."
Eleanor looked at the stranger in the mirror.
Regina Jennings had trained her since childhood to learn interests that pleased men.
Her delicate fingers never touched washing dishes, roughened hands would be noticed.
But she needed money!
Otherwise, her sister’s medical expenses would forever be a chain under Regina Jennings’s control.
For dignity and freedom in the future, she chose to sacrifice a little now.
"Yes, if not for the money, who would be willing to sell laughter here."
Flora Vaughn was a single mother, willing to do any work to care for her frail daughter.
She was Eleanor’s only sincere friend.
...
After Eleanor finished dancing, the nightclub owner suddenly requested she go to the VIP section.
"President Wainwright has arrived, go greet him."
Wayne Wainwright had high status, often requesting her performances, he was a customer she couldn’t offend.
Eleanor intended only to say hello, but never expected to see the last person she wanted to encounter.
Sebastian Ford!
"Master Ford, it seems your eyes get to enjoy her dance tonight, she’s quite the treasure of this place."
Wayne Wainwright had never seen Eleanor’s true face, but could tell she stood apart from those flaunting women, unmoved by the mud, truly a rare beauty.
"Oh? A treasure indeed."
Sebastian lazily leaned against the sofa, fingertips gently brushing his ring, his scorching gaze assessing Eleanor.
Eleanor froze in place, did Sebastian recognize her?
However, Sebastian casually shifted his gaze.
"The dance is unimpressive, join me for a drink."
Eleanor deliberately lowered her voice, declining: "Sorry, I only perform, not accompany drinks."
"Is it you can’t drink, or won’t join me in drinking?"
Sebastian narrowed his eyes with threat, smiling as he said: "If you don’t drink, then stop working, I’ll shut down this bar."
Eleanor was stunned, was this man truly unreasonable?
Simply because she refused, he would shut down the bar; so many would lose their jobs, she’d struggle to find another side job to earn money.
"Fine, I’ll drink."
As long as he hadn’t recognized her, it should be fine.
Eleanor gathered her courage, carefully stepping forward, bending to pick up the glass in front of him.
Suddenly, Sebastian raised his long leg.
Eleanor’s knees buckled, unable to steady herself, she fell seated on Sebastian’s lap.
