Chapter 30: Chapter 30: Don’t Touch My Woman—Master Ford Kills Red-Eyed for Her
Eleanor Valerius watched Sebastian Ford approaching with trembling eyes.
She was startled and lacked confidence.
"Mr. Ford, I know she’s your woman, and surely I’ll avoid any suspicion."
Gordon Reid shook off Eleanor’s arm with disgust and pointed at her to make the first complaint: "But she took advantage of your absence to strip and try to seduce me, clearly aiming to ruin the relationship between our two families’ cooperation. How do you intend to deal with a woman like this?"
Sebastian Ford squinted his eyes dangerously, emotions unreadable.
"It’s not like that..."
Eleanor couldn’t help but explain to Sebastian.
Sabotaging the cooperation project—such a charge was too much for her to bear.
"Mr. Reid, how do you want to resolve this?"
Sebastian spoke, his icy voice sounding as if he believed the slander? Or is he willing to sacrifice her for the cooperation project?
Eleanor held her breath, struggling to stand up, her eyes anxiously fixed on Sebastian.
"It’s simple. Just give me this woman, Mr. Ford."
Gordon Reid’s smile was insidiously colored, looking at Eleanor with lust, and probing Sebastian as well.
"Surely Mr. Ford isn’t reluctant? If it gets out that our cooperation fell through because of a woman, it won’t sound good for Mr. Ford’s reputation either."
"Heh, indeed it would be laughable if that rumor spread."
Sebastian sneered coldly, taking off his suit jacket to drape it over Eleanor.
Suddenly, Eleanor’s heart raced wildly.
"This woman is infatuated with me, madly in love with my face and body. Having been with me, living well, would she go mad and try to seduce a toad like you?
There’s liquor on the table, Mr. Reid, you should look in the mirror."
Sebastian’s venomously sharp tongue left Eleanor stunned and speechless.
Upon hearing it, Gordon Reid was furious and smashed his wine glass onto the table.
Broken glass splattered around.
Sebastian protectively pulled Eleanor’s head into his embrace.
"Mr. Ford! How dare you humiliate me for a woman? If you don’t hand her over, today’s cooperation is off!"
Gordon Reid seized the opportunity to target Eleanor.
Eleanor suddenly couldn’t understand anymore.
Did Gordon Reid, knowing her relationship with Sebastian, intend to use her to ignite the failure of the cooperation talks?
So, was Sebastian’s protective aggression also a necessary excuse for a counterattack?
"I said she’s my woman; you can’t even touch her hair!"
Sebastian’s anger for his beloved was fierce, kicking over the redwood table.
"Damn! The Ford Family wasn’t sincere in negotiating at all; don’t think you’ll leave so easily today!"
Gordon Reid finally revealed his true colors.
Immediately, assassins pre-emptively stationed in the clubhouse charged in with knives.
Eleanor was caught off guard and horrified.
Just as suspected!
The talk of cooperation today was fake!
Sebastian and Gordon Reid were performing for each other.
He knew Gordon Reid was slandering her, because it was an excuse he proactively provided!
"Sebastian!"
Eleanor looked up at him in his arms.
"Regretting it?"
Sebastian’s mischievous smile was wicked as he whispered hoarsely in her ear: "You’ve willingly served yourself on a platter as a femme fatale, now afraid and regretting it, there’s no chance to escape."
Eleanor was speechless with frustration; Sebastian’s schemes ran deep!
Facing the present danger, all she could do was hold onto him tightly.
"Mr. Ford, you gave up the cooperation project for me; I believe you will keep me safe."
Despite the fact that harming the Ford Group was already her crime, preserving her life was now the priority.
"Don’t be afraid."
Sebastian patted her head to soothe her.
"Anyone who dares covet what’s yours deserves to die!"
Even the collaborative act couldn’t suppress the solemn murderous intent slowly spreading in Sebastian’s eyes.
His second brother had discovered his personal enmity with Gordon Reid, and orchestrating this ambush took considerable effort. Naturally, he had to break the deadlock himself.
Gordon Reid, relying on superior numbers, arrogantly said: "Mr. Ford, you were too hasty today. Emberfall is not Aethelgard; you only brought one bodyguard. If you think of killing me, that’s quite a fantasy!"
"I deliberately didn’t bring bodyguards; after all, if you didn’t have the guts to make a move, you’d be wasting my time."
Sebastian’s commanding aura was like that of a king gazing down over his domain, holding absolute strategic control.
"Was this deliberate?"
Gordon Reid was flustered with shock at first but quickly reverted to arrogance.
"Sebastian Ford, no matter how formidable you are, you’ve only two people since years ago when the Lowell Family plotted an assassination against you. You were outnumbered and ended with a deaf left ear, becoming disabled. Today, in my territory, taking your life is as easy as a stroll!"
Referring to the disability of his left ear made Sebastian’s expression abruptly grim.
Eleanor, nestled in his arms, could feel a chill running down her spine at the ominous foreboding.
It was also the first time she’d heard the truth about Sebastian’s left ear being disabled.
Was it because of an assassination by the Lowell Family?
Was he betrayed?
"Heh, didn’t you hear the second part of the story?"
Sebastian squinted with danger-laden eyes, seemingly speaking casually in a low voice: "The Lowell Family went bankrupt and destroyed, that’s what happened. The same fate awaits you today."
With those words, Sebastian led Eleanor and charged out of the private room.
Mason Monroe was already outside, fighting off the lurking assassins too.
Eleanor had never experienced anything like this before. Her survival instinct was to grip Sebastian’s arm tightly.
The long knives swinging towards her were all deflected by Sebastian.
Sebastian was protecting her, but she was also a burden to him.
"Mason, take Eleanor away first!"
Sebastian knew she was terrified; suddenly, he released her and threw her toward Mason.
Suddenly, Eleanor was caught off guard and fell in front of Mason.
"Sebastian..."
She stared wide-eyed with terror, watching as Sebastian removed the hearing aid from his left ear, facing the swarm of assassins alone.
At this moment, Mason dragged Eleanor away, continuing to confront the hidden assassins as they ran.
They ran towards the parking lot.
Only then did Eleanor react, nervously questioning with a trembling voice: "How can you leave Sebastian there alone! Can’t you call for reinforcements? He’s the head of the Ford Family; you mustn’t let him be in danger, go back and help him quickly!"
"Master Ford’s order was for me to take you away."
Mason would never question Master Ford’s decisions.
Moreover, he was well aware of Master Ford’s capabilities.
Even the Ford Family’s bodyguards couldn’t match Master Ford; the assassins inside were hardly a threat—Master Ford took personal action because he was infuriated.
However, the more Eleanor thought about it, the more worried she became, and she couldn’t break free from Mason’s restraint.
"Let go of me, I can run on my own."
As soon as she spoke, Eleanor was running wildly through the vast parking lot in high heels.
The assassins chased after her from behind, only to be blocked by Mason.
However, Eleanor ran to a hidden spot, took off her high heels, and smashed them at the car alarms.
With bare feet, she used the noise to cover her tracks and stealthily circled back to where she and Sebastian had parted.
The atmosphere here reeked of blood and slaughter.
Hiding, Eleanor couldn’t return to his side as a burden, but she couldn’t bring herself to leave him either.
Even though Sebastian’s protection today was just an excuse, he hadn’t sacrificed her to entertain clients.
She felt as though she had dignity, not a mere plaything.
At this moment, Sebastian emerged from inside, in a nearly frenzied state, his eyes bloodshot.
The assassin group lying in ambush at the clubhouse had been completely annihilated.
At a glance, Eleanor noticed someone behind Sebastian lifting a knife, urgently warning: "Watch out behind you!"
Sebastian turned and fought back, his left arm getting slashed.
The blood that flowed stained the White Jade Ring red.
"Eleanor? I told you to leave, why did you come back?"
Sebastian was surprised to see her.
He squinted and smiled, the blood droplets on his eye corners making him look chillingly menacing.
Just now...
Sebastian had killed someone right in front of her.
The scene she witnessed left Eleanor frozen in place, her body unable to stop trembling.
"Come here."
Sebastian raised his injured, blood-soaked left hand and beckoned to her with a finger.
To go over?
Or to run away?
Eleanor was torn with indecision.
