Chapter 45: Chapter 45: Lie Still, Don’t Move—I’ll Test You for Pregnancy Myself
Eleanor Valerius secretly watched Sebastian Ford.
The scandal of catching an affair turned into a crisis of breaking off an engagement.
The difference was that the crisis of breaking the engagement was no longer Sebastian’s punishment for her.
Instead, the Lancaster Family mistakenly caught the wrong person, and it became a big trouble where they knelt in front of Sebastian admitting their mistake and begging for mercy.
"Master Ford, it really was a misunderstanding, we didn’t know it was you in the room..."
Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster were practically in tears as they apologized, worried they could no longer cling to the Ford Family.
"If it wasn’t me in the room, could you just suspect and bully my little niece like that?"
Sebastian Ford sat on the sofa, his aura exuding a menacing anger.
"No, I really heard..."
Jenson Lancaster hadn’t realized he was caught in a trap.
Discovering it was Master Ford startled him into a state of shock.
"Eleanor Valerius! Do you want to marry me or not? Then you can’t break off the engagement, explain to Master Ford!"
At this moment, Eleanor stood by Sebastian Ford’s side.
She acted like she was wronged, quietly wiping tears away.
She didn’t speak, fearful of easily guessing Sebastian’s thoughts.
The engagement dispute escalated to the point where Regina Jennings also appeared.
Once she pretended to understand the situation, she didn’t care about Eleanor Valerius, but instead helped the Lancaster Family apologize: "Sebastian, this matter fell upon you, it’s their fault as the younger ones. But Eleanor and Jenson truly love each other, it’s just a minor squabble, not worth breaking off the engagement.
Ethan left early, and I’ve been hoping Eleanor could marry and find her happiness, plus the old master values this marriage very much."
Though Sebastian Ford was an elder in an uncle’s capacity, Regina Jennings, as the mother, ultimately decided the engagement.
Eleanor Valerius knew she couldn’t easily escape being sent to the Lancaster Family as a trade item.
"This is ultimately a betrothal between the Valerius and Lancaster families, I have no authority to intervene."
Sebastian Ford seemed to have conceded.
In fact, he had no reason to annul Eleanor’s engagement.
If he overstepped his bounds, the Ford Family would suspect his true relationship with Eleanor Valerius.
His anger tonight was an intentional act to scare the Lancaster Family.
"But the Lancasters acted recklessly, slandering me and the Ford Family’s reputation, even if it was a misunderstanding, it’s an unforgivable offense."
With eyes narrowed, Sebastian said coldly, "Not annulling the engagement is fine, but the Lancaster Family must receive a warning. If this happens again, the Valerius Family matters will be decided by the Ford Family, I will not allow my family to be bullied by outsiders."
This statement of protection warmed Eleanor’s heart immensely.
On the surface, Sebastian Ford didn’t mention her name.
But this covert claim of ownership was like the mark he left on her dress, it belonged to him.
"It’ll definitely...it’ll definitely not happen again!"
Jenson Lancaster, intimidated yet adaptable, crawled over to Eleanor Valerius to promise, "I won’t doubt you again, you are the future Young Madam of the Lancaster Family, we are one family."
Then, Regina Jennings shot her a warning glance.
Eleanor sniffled softly, nodded just enough to reconcile with Jenson Lancaster.
Luckily, her double-edged plan succeeded.
The final challenge remained.
Standing aside, Eleanor unconsciously touched her abdomen.
This action was caught by Sebastian Ford’s eyes.
He became more suspicious, suspecting she conceived on the night she didn’t take contraceptives.
If that were true, Eleanor had deceived him.
She still wanted to hide it, wanted to marry Jenson Lancaster while carrying his child!
Regardless of whether she intended to provoke him.
Choosing between the two, she seemed to want to abandon him?!
Suddenly, the more Sebastian thought, the angrier he became, slamming his glass on the table, his anger evident.
"Mason, notify the organizers, I won’t attend the charity awards."
Upon hearing this, Mason Monroe couldn’t tell if Master Ford was truly angry or just acting.
"Mr. Ford, tonight’s winners are all the philanthropists of Aethelgard, if you don’t attend, it will be a breach of contract for the Ford Family."
"So what if it’s a breach? Ha, it was all caused by the Lancaster Family."
Sebastian Ford was hard to appease when settling scores after the event.
At that moment, Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster hurriedly urged Jenson to apologize again.
Jenson Lancaster pulled Eleanor Valerius over, both standing in front of Sebastian Ford.
"Master Ford, you are generous, I assure you Eleanor won’t be wronged following me!"
This scene made Sebastian Ford’s eyes grow increasingly cold.
Eleanor involuntarily watched Jenson Lancaster punish himself with three glasses, and she mimed lifting her own glass.
Unexpectedly, Sebastian suddenly reached out and took her glass.
"Eleanor Valerius, go with Mason to prepare for the award presentation."
After drinking her wine, he signaled her not to touch alcohol again with a look.
Does she not know to avoid such things during pregnancy?
"Yes, Mr. Ford."
Eleanor seemed to have captured his gaze, smiling slightly.
...
After the mistaken scandal, the Lancaster Family remained in a state of apprehension.
Eleanor Valerius, already prepared to take the stage with the award, did not sit with them.
In her sight, Sebastian Ford, representing the Ford Family in philanthropy, was the high and mighty center of attention.
Even if she went up to stand by his side, their identities were worlds apart.
Eleanor Valerius detested the power-driven high society circles, longing for equality and freedom.
Suddenly, her hand on the prize was grabbed by Sebastian Ford!
Her heartbeat slightly chaotic, only she could feel it.
The applause thundered during the award ceremony, awaiting the space after taking a photo together to step down.
"Wait for me."
Sebastian Ford’s deep voice left her with an order.
At that moment, a tingling numbness was accompanied by an uneasy feeling within Eleanor’s heart.
Before the banquet concluded, Eleanor Valerius left early.
The corridor leading to the elevator suddenly plunged into darkness.
A tall figure pressed toward her from behind, enveloping her.
Startled, Eleanor heard a familiar voice at her ear.
"It’s me."
Sebastian Ford, considering her pregnancy, carefully restrained her movements.
But upon realizing it was him, Eleanor struggled.
His anger not fully subsided, he picked her up directly, holding her close, warm breath spraying over her face, questioning: "Becoming more disobedient, telling you to wait for me, you still want to escape?"
"Master Ford, let me go..."
Eleanor’s refusal further agitated him.
"Let you go to your fiancé’s side?"
Sebastian chuckled coldly, footsteps carrying her toward the parking lot, voice irritable: "If you don’t want me as your lover, who’ll assist you next time you set a trap? Even in playing hard to get, you must know your boundaries when toying with me."
"I didn’t!"
Eleanor retorted, denying as she was carried into the car.
Getting off, she realized it was a private hospital.
She instantly became wary, yet before she could escape, Sebastian already swiftly grasped her.
"How long did you plan on hiding the secret pregnancy from me?"
Sebastian’s tone was angrily revealing her deception.
Eleanor was genuinely panicked.
"I’m not pregnant."
"I’ll only trust test results."
Subsequently, Sebastian forcibly carried her for a check-up.
Lying on the examination room bed.
Eleanor knew the facade had to end now.
"Master Ford, I am indeed not pregnant."
Sebastian looked down at her, first signaling the female doctor to leave.
"That pregnancy test kit in the office was yours."
"I did buy a pregnancy test kit."
Eleanor sat up, retrieving a used test stick from her bag, explaining: "This is the result I found; I don’t know whose test kit was in the office, Master Ford, truly, I am not pregnant."
Sebastian was indeed taken aback.
His attitude cautious, ordering the doctor to conduct a blood test, then bringing a new pregnancy test kit.
"You always love lying to me; for such an important matter as a pregnancy test, I’ll handle it myself."
Eleanor was caught off guard, pressed down to the bed by Sebastian.
Her dress was lifted, as he pressed her knees apart, his gaze intense.
This wasn’t about testing for pregnancy; it was punishment!
"Master Ford, this is a hospital, you can’t do this uh..."
Her subsequent words couldn’t be spoken, biting her lip to endure his probing.
Even, Sebastian leaned down slowly toward her.
"If you are pregnant, I’ll be gentler."
