Mushoku Tensei: Reincarnated as a Beast Race-Chapter 311 - Spiritual Demon Eye, an Ordinary Girl
Chapter 311: 311 - Spiritual Demon Eye, an Ordinary Girl
The importance of the Spiritual Demon Eye dates back thousands of years, even before the start of the First Great Human–Demon War, and is closely tied to the creation of the magic system as people know it today.
In the old days, magical techniques were extremely rare. Few people mastered them, and almost all were innate abilities of their own races that could not be taught or replicated.
At that time, the concept of learned magic simply wasn’t common — either you were born with it, or you weren’t.
Little was known about it for a long time, but the truth is that, during the ancient war between the Demon World and the Dragon World, some magical advances arose.
Both sides developed new techniques to face each other more effectively — powerful and innovative methods born from the conflict.
However, with the brutality of the war and the eventual destruction of both worlds, most of those techniques were lost to history.
And even if they had survived, they wouldn’t have been of much use, since they were all highly specific, difficult to apply, and almost impossible for ordinary individuals to use.
They were weapons created for naturally combative races, the Dragons and the Demons.
But if that was true, then where did the elemental magics that the modern world knows come from?
Most people know — at least superficially — that the elves were responsible for creating that path.
However, few know how it was actually achieved.
The real origin of it all began when the Demon Empress Kishirika Kishirisu gifted an elf named Izhaldir one of her Demon Eyes — specifically, the Spiritual Demon Eye.
The use of that Eye was, in essence, simple. It allowed the user to see and communicate with Nature Spirits.
Dryads that dwelled in ancient forests, Oreads that resided in the hearts of mountains, Naiads that inhabited crystalline rivers and deep seas.
Even in current times, the effects and mysteries of magic in the Six-Faced World have never been fully unraveled.
Phenomena such as Random Teleports, the Dragon World with its inverted gravity, or the Barrier between the Worlds remain enigmas to this day.
And it was the same with Spirit Magic for a long time. The first recorded instance of real interaction with Spirit Magic goes back to the ancient Armored Dragon King, Dora, one of the Five Dragon Generals under the First Dragon God.
It was Dora, during the war between the Demon World and the Dragon World, who documented the first concepts of what would later be called Summoning Magic.
Guided by the Spiritual Demon Eye, Izhaldir was able to see and converse with spirits that normally no one could perceive or see.
He had a friendly, free-spirited disposition — something rare for an elf — and precisely because of that easygoing temperament, the spirits naturally approached him.
During his long journeys, conversing with every spirit he encountered, Izhaldir ended up discovering an ancient ruin of the Armored Dragon Tribe.
Inside it, there were fragments of records left by Dora containing information about her Spirit Magic — which today was called Summoning Magic.
But they were only initial ideas, without complete instructions.
Even so, Izhaldir did not set himself to study Summoning Magic.
He had no haste, no ambition — he was a long-lived elf who treated the spirits simply as new friends, not as tools. However, that didn’t mean he lacked talent.
He had read the Armored Dragon Tribe’s research; even without dedicating himself to it, the concepts never left his mind.
Over a hundred years living with those spiritual beings, observing how they shaped the elements simply by manipulating their own mana, Izhaldir ended up creating — almost without realizing it — a way to replicate those feats on his own.
A method to command the elements using his own mana, converting it directly into magical phenomena.
Magic chants that used mana to shape the world to one’s will.
Although some magics and chants already existed in antiquity, most of them were concentrated in the hands of the Dragon Race and a few Demons.
The dragons were heavily ostracized by all other races of the world, treated as dangerous and unpredictable beings.
The demons, despite possessing certain techniques, had no intention of sharing them, nor of continuing to develop their magics.
Without a clear enemy like there had been in the war between worlds, the motivation to evolve them simply disappeared.
In that scenario, Izhaldir became largely responsible for disseminating common and accessible magical knowledge.
He was the one who made it possible for other races to learn basic spells and advance on their own.
Above all, Izhaldir was the pioneer of the Elemental Magics, which allowed manipulation of fire, water, earth, and wind — a milestone that would forever change the way the world understood the use of mana.

Rygar heard Verdia give him a basic explanation about the Spiritual Demon Eye and, in the next instant, understood perfectly why Oldgar had left that suggestion in the Future Guide.
The potential for communication and cooperation with spirits was simply too attractive to ignore.
Just look at the current Perugius Dola. He possessed twelve powerful spirits, each with strange and unique abilities.
Even if one completely disregarded his personal strength or the Chaos Breaker Fortress, those spirits alone were enough to place him among the most influential figures in the world.
That was precisely the sort of advantage a Spiritual Demon Eye could offer.
Verdia, for her part, was very excited.
Still, she couldn’t control her new Demon Eye — not yet.
She would need to train before she could use it correctly or demonstrate its potential. Even so, she kept thanking Kishirika profusely.
They continued discussing various subjects for a while. To test the Empress’s capacity, Rygar used his own Demon Eyes to analyze Kishirika.
She had Emperor-level mana, even in that small, childlike body.
Kishirika commented that her mana would increase much more by adulthood. According to her accounts, Rygar calculated mentally and estimated that she would probably reach an amount of mana similar to his own.
Since Kishirika could not leave the Demon Continent, that meant the Iron Legion’s presence there would need to increase sharply in the coming years.
However, that wasn’t really a problem. They already had access to the teleportation circles and had subdued most of the Demon Kings, so keeping the region safe and organized would be relatively simple.
At one point, Rygar looked at the Demon Empress and said:
"Actually, before we go, I have another favor to ask... can we send new sweets or anything you want."
"Oh? And what is it?" Kishirika replied immediately, curious.
Rygar averted his gaze for a moment, looking out the window of the hall. Outside, several warriors were simultaneously fighting and celebrating.
Among them, Skoll and Eris were clashing fiercely with members of Atofe’s guard.
Seeing Eris fighting so spiritedly, moving with her usual characteristic intensity, Rygar couldn’t help but smile slightly.
Then he turned his attention back to Kishirika and said:
"I need another Demon Eye..."

Star Rise Academy
At that moment, a girl with long, curly blond hair, wearing the academy’s light-blue uniform, sat alone in a library.
Her eyes were blue, and there was a subtle gleam in them that only someone truly attentive would notice if they looked for long enough.
Sunlight streamed gently through the large window beside her, filtered by the fine dust suspended in the air, illuminating the nearby shelves with a calm, yellowish glow.
But the girl seemed oblivious to all of it.
She was immersed in thought — completely absorbed in the magic book open in front of her.
This girl’s name was Jasmine.
A name she had only received a few years earlier, due to some special circumstances.
Before that, she had been known in another way — by a title.
The Memory Miko, a former priestess of the Temple Order of the Kingdom of Milis.
She had once been a symbol of the brilliant future the Sacred Kingdom believed it possessed. A religious pillar, a figure that represented faith and hope.
But now... she seemed just like an ordinary girl.
Who would have thought that, after the total fall of the Kingdom of Milis, she would be treated so negligently?
Some might argue that, having been considered a Daughter of God in Milis, she should be honored or protected as such.
But in practice, beyond some initial tests and formal questions about her Miko powers, the Kingdom of Gaia simply left her free to do as she pleased.
The only condition was to completely abandon any political, military, or religious power.
She could continue to worship her Saint Milis on her own, if she wished.
They even gave her a simple but comfortable house and a monthly stipend to live without worries. And, of course, they gave her a name — Jasmine.
In the first months after Milis’s fall, she was absolutely stunned. Her entire routine had been destroyed.
But, unlike what some expected, she did not try to reclaim authority or cling to old rituals. There was no longer a "position" to be filled in any case.
Some even tried to use her as a symbol to secretly rebuild Milis.
But all of them were easily suppressed by the Iron Legion. After that, the population gradually simply... forgot she existed.
Until one day, Saint McEarntown, now formally serving the Kingdom of Gaia, visited her. He said she couldn’t continue living like that — with no goals, no direction, merely carried along by life.
But what could she answer?
When she had been in Milis, there was always something to do.
Her life had been planned by others, always full of meetings, cults, religious rituals, public responsibilities. She never had to think about her own path.
However, in the Kingdom of Gaia... none of that existed.
The only price for the comfort she received was to use her Miko powers when the Kingdom needed them — but, in truth, that only happened twice in years, both extraordinary situations.
It was then that McEarntown recommended she join Star Rise Academy.
He said she might find there something she truly liked to do. Having nothing else in her life, Jasmine simply accepted.
Nearly three years had passed since then.
The former and legendary Memory Miko was now a dedicated student of the Barrier Team at Star Rise Academy.
She also stood out in Healing and Detoxification Magic. All of this began because, in her first year at the academy, she was noticed by Aisha Greyrat, a direct disciple of the Beast God.
Aisha was younger than her, but her posture and way of thinking never seemed juvenile.
The amount of experience Aisha had was so great that, if their ages were reversed, Jasmine would find it more natural.
Under the guidance of that peculiar girl, Jasmine discovered her natural vocation for Barrier Magics — and, for the first time in many years, found a purpose of her own.
She also made several friends in the class. Including Aisha herself.
From time to time, however, her thoughts would drift away, remembering what she had done before the rise of the Kingdom of Gaia.
All of that seemed, with each passing year, more distant. Almost like a dream she had lived in another life.
And looking at one of the shelves in that silent library, she was trapped exactly in that kind of recollection when she heard her name called:
"Jasmine!"
She looked up and saw one of her closest friends running toward her. It was Tersena, a direct descendant of the leader of the Adoldia Tribe. Tersena’s sister was none other than Pursena Adoldia, one of the Beast Princesses.
Jasmine smiled in greeting:
"Tersena! What’s up? Why the rush?"
"There’s no time!" Tersena was completely agitated.
"You’ve been summoned by Lord Jino Britz! Miss Aisha is there too!"
Before Jasmine could react, another presence suddenly appeared in the room — and the entire library shook with the gust of wind.
A woman wearing light armor, with golden hair and an impressive posture, approached the Miko. Her figure was dignified and dazzling. Jasmine recognized her immediately:
It was Eleonor Hangel, the Flash Sword.
"I apologize for the discourtesy, Miss Jasmine," Eleonor said, already preparing herself. "But it really is an unusual situation."
Without giving any further explanation, Eleonor simply vanished from where she was, reappeared beside Jasmine, and lifted her easily over her shoulder.
In an instant, they were gone — the speed was so great that a blast of wind scattered papers and sent several books tumbling from the tables.
With the aid of her magic item, Eleonor was literally like a golden flash cutting through the city.
Jasmine tried to say something, but she had no opportunity. The speed was so extreme that she simply fainted.
When she woke, she was in another room — a wide, silent chamber, with a complex Magic Circle drawn on the floor.
Aisha had woken her with a spell. Eleonor and Jino were there, on guard, with serious expressions.
In the center of the circle, imprisoned, was a man with blond hair tied in a ponytail near his right ear.
He wore a fox mask on his face, a buttoned white blazer, and long trousers.
He was Arumanfi, the Brilliant. One of the Twelve Spirits of the Armored Dragon King, Perugius Dola.
