My Ability Pool is Superior-Chapter 39: Hunt Moment

Chapter 39

“Can you tell which ones are Death Fighters?”
Liu Yue placed her hands on her hips, scrutinizing every onlooker outside the yellow tape.
“Look, aren’t those all of them?”
Zhuo Li pointed at several battered corpses inside the yellow tape.
When chaos emerged at the settlement, quite a few Death Fighters tried to rush into the Research Center amid the confusion.
But just looking at those few corpses lying crookedly inside the yellow tape showed that forcing their way in hadn’t succeeded.
The Research Center, as well as the nearby Administrative Building, both had Snipers arranged on their rooftops for vigilance.
Just like in the entire Handong Province, only Qi Tongwei holding a high-precision sniper rifle could effectively supervise Sha Ruijin.
Under the big sniper, everyone is equal.
Many gunfight games actually downplay the deterrence of Snipers on the battlefield.
Charging into a building under the blockade of several sniper rifles isn’t easy for Death Fighters either.
Probably only certain Death Fighters who master special abilities could sneak in, but their quantity couldn’t be too many.
Liu Yue rolled her eyes at Zhuo Li and said discontentedly, “I’m asking about the live ones.”
“Just kidding.”
Zhuo Li chuckled, unhurriedly extending his finger to point at several people in the crowd: “This one, and this one, that old lady, and the balding guy next to her—these guys all are.”
“But we’d better not act so blatantly. Let’s go find those hiding alone first.” Xiao Xueyin took over and said.
“Of course, of course.”
Zhuo Li waved his hand grandly: “Follow me.”
……
Zheng~
Sword light flashed through the tent, sharp as autumn water.
A figure collapsed without extra struggle.
【Ding!】

Watching Lu Bai wipe the bloodstains from the Eight-Sided Han Sword, Liu Yue smugly placed her hands on her hips and said, “How about it? Isn’t our gang pretty good?”
This was already the seventh Death Fighter they had hunted.
Regarding points allocation, considering they couldn’t make too much movement, it was basically whoever had the opportunity took it.
After acting together for this period, Lu Bai had pretty much figured out the positions of the other team members.
Zhuo Li focused on intelligence reconnaissance, Liu Yue applied control whenever she had the chance, and the Hoodie Man excelled at assassination and sneak attacks.
As for Xiao Xueyin, who led the team formation, with the existence of Drow Group, he positioned himself as support, and no one had any objections.
Although Lu Bai had fought him and knew his skills were quite good.
Looking at it this way, the team was actually quite comprehensive in every aspect; the slightly weak link was only in frontal combat.
But this weak point was compensated by Lu Bai’s joining.
Based on this, it was hard to say Xiao Xueyin had just casually gathered a few Death Fighters to form the team.
Lu Bai sized up the outwardly sickly-looking Xiao Xueyin and asked with interest, “Were you really planning to invite Guo Mi to join before?”
“Actually, I planned to find you from the start, but my intuition told me that if I said so then, you would’ve probably chopped me dead on the spot.”
Xiao Xueyin’s answer seemed like a joke, yet inexplicably carried a bit of sincerity.
Lu Bai rubbed his chin, recalling the scene at the time.
Given Xiao Xueyin’s bizarre entrance, under the circumstance of having just chopped Guo Mi, it seemed no matter what, he would’ve slashed first.
The sky was dimly bright, a faint blue emerging from the distant horizon.
The five snuck out from a tent; noticing that the onlookers previously gathered in the corridor had many already sitting in place, starting to doze off.
After all, the chaos seemed to have been controlled by the army, and with no danger, most civilians naturally wouldn’t continue forcing themselves to stay awake.
Of course, those choosing to return directly to their tents to rest were still a minority.
“The sky’s about to brighten.”
Zhuo Li first looked up at the sky, then turned to the others: “Should we call it quits for now?”
Xiao Xueyin thought for a moment and said, “Let’s continue finding the next objective.”
“We’ve taken out seven Death Fighters already; continuing action seems a bit risky.” Zhuo Li explained his concern.
After all, they hadn’t handled those corpses, and being discovered was just a matter of time.
Xiao Xueyin glanced at the “Node” position on the system panel, which still showed no changes, then countered, “Since someone created this chaos, do you think it’ll just fizzle out like this?”
While the group talked, a woman’s scream suddenly came from not far away.
Everyone looked toward the sound; Zhuo Li even climbed onto a tent to the left, observing for a bit, somewhat helplessly: “Oh no, it’s not that they might be discovered anytime— they’ve already been discovered.”
The sudden scream jolted many civilians dozing by the roadside.
Some even scrambled up from the ground and instinctively started running, only stopping awkwardly once reason returned.
“What’s going on?”
“Infected attacking?!”
“Seems like someone’s screaming.”
“Damn, I was sleeping so soundly.”
Soon, a team of fully armed soldiers hurried toward the direction of the scream.
The leader was an old acquaintance; from Zhou Zongming’s weary expression, it was clear he hadn’t rested all night either.
Lu Bai frowned and retreated behind the group.
Probably due to sleep deprivation, Zhou Zongming passed by without noticing Lu Bai.
“Everyone, this doesn’t look right.”
Once the team of soldiers had gone far, Zhuo Li said, “That woman who screamed— she seems like a Death Fighter?”
Hearing this, Xiao Xueyin’s brows immediately furrowed.
“Planning to frame us?” The Hoodie Man said with a grim face, looking ready to stab at a moment’s notice.
“No, it shouldn’t be. We left no clues pointing to us, and Zhuo Li confirmed no one was secretly watching us during our actions.”
Xiao Xueyin’s furrowed brows relaxed a bit: “If I’m not mistaken, someone plans to get serious now.”
Da! Da! Da!
As if to confirm his guess, dense gunshots broke the night’s silence.
And it wasn’t one-sided shooting; these intensive gunshots clearly sounded like two groups fiercely exchanging fire.
Without needing reminder, Zhuo Li quickly described the situation: “One side is that team of soldiers that just passed; the other is Survey Corps people. Damn, where’d they get so many guns.”
“What’s the meaning behind this firefight?” Lu Bai was somewhat surprised.
“More like attracting attention…”
Xiao Xueyin took over, but halfway through, he abruptly turned toward the Research Center.
Just as he turned his head that instant.
Bang!!!
A violent explosion occurred on the Research Center’s rooftop, thick smoke rising, with large amounts of gravel flying in all directions from the explosion.
