My Ability Pool is Superior-Chapter 50: Instant Kill

Chapter 50

“This is the sixth squad. The third floor emergency exit has been secured. Please issue instructions.”
Zhou Zongming heard the squad captain’s and glanced toward the hall: “Hold position, prepare to receive… the assistance personnel.”
“Understood.”
The so-called assistance personnel naturally referred to Xiao Xueyin and the others.
Speaking of which, Zhou Zongming found it absurd.
When they found them, they hadn’t even stated their intentions yet, and that little sister had proactively asked if they could help inside the administrative building.
Since things had come to this, they might as well treat a dead horse as a live one.
Zhou Zongming gave a simple explanation, then had the adjutant lead them into the administrative building.
He certainly knew that making this decision carried great risk, but thinking realistically, the situation was already bad to a certain degree—how much worse could it get?
He couldn’t really let all these over a hundred subordinates die inside the administrative building. After all, Xiao Xueyin and the others didn’t act like ordinary civilians; maybe they could bring him some surprise.
……
Fourth floor, the office in the middle of the corridor.
A man wearing sportswear was being wildly sprayed with bullets by several soldiers.
The death fighter darted left and right; bullets hit his body but didn’t affect his actions much.
[Agile Dodge (Gold): While maintaining movement, dodge all non-instant-death attacks.]
If reality were a game, miss~ symbols would probably keep popping up above his head.
The key to achieving this effect lay in “non-instant-death attacks.”
In this ability’s judgment, being shot, bleeding, or losing limbs were fatal but not to the degree of instant death.
As long as this death fighter kept his head from being hit by bullets, he could pretty much swim like a dragon through the hail of bullets.
Taking advantage of a soldier changing his magazine, the sportswear death fighter slid over with a tackle, unleashed a hook punch, and smashed the soldier so hard that both his feet briefly left the ground.
Then he did the same to the remaining soldiers one by one, taking them out in the same way.
……
At the corner of the corridor.
With a ballistic shield leading the way, a squad of soldiers advanced cautiously.
“Wuhu~”
An excited shout suddenly appeared in the soldiers’ ears.
The soldiers were all somewhat tense, not knowing where the sound came from.
One of the soldiers seemed to think of something, blankly looked up, and was horrified to discover a figure hanging upside down from the ceiling of the corridor.
It was a young man holding an assault rifle with a black bat tattoo on his neck.
The young man grinned: “surprise!”
In nearly the same instant, he pulled the trigger.
No need to aim at all; random spraying was all headshots.
After a series of screams, none of this squad of soldiers survived.
……
In the corridor from the first floor to the second floor.
Xiao Xueyin followed closely behind the adjutant, behaving very obediently.
“Tsk tsk tsk~”
Looking at the splash-shaped bloodstains remaining on the walls of the emergency exit, Liu Yue kept smacking her lips: “Such heavy casualties.”
“Keep your voice down.” Yan Zhiquan reminded in a low voice, then added: “But it looks like the Survey Corps was prepared in advance. I suspect we have a mole inside feeding them info.”
“What are you implying?”
Liu Yue put her hands on her hips and lifted her chin toward Osas nonchalantly: “You saying the mole is this guy? Or Brother Lu?”
“That’s not what I mean.”
Yan Zhiquan gave Osas a smile: “But Brother Lu suddenly took out those two suit guys back then—don’t you find that strange?”
From their perspective, the two sides had just had a minor conflict.
But under the threats of the Survey Corps and the Ten Blades, striking deadly at a potential ally over a disagreement felt a bit forced, as if he had originally planned to take out those two suit guys and just found any excuse.
And when the Survey Corps death fighter fired at the empty ground, Brother Lu had broken away from the group without a word, which Yan Zhiquan also saw as a suspicious point.
“It’s indeed suspicious, but I don’t think Brother Lu is with the Survey Corps.” The death fighter, who looked like a standard engineer, chimed in.
As a lone wolf, he was inherently suspicious of other death fighters. Maintaining that mindset allowed him to examine Brother Lu’s actions more objectively.
Stepping back ten thousand steps, if that Brother Lu were the mole, staying with them would be the best way to play the mole’s role.
“For now, let’s not suspect our own people. Maybe someone in the Survey Corps has a long-range observation ability.”
Yan Zhiquan hummed: “Yeah, let’s believe that for now.”
Osas shrank his neck, trying his best to minimize his sense of presence.
As a former Survey Corps member, he felt a bit awkward in this discussion, but he quickly found a new topic.
“Look, the ‘node’ position has moved.”
“It really has.”
Liu Yue flexed her wrist: “On that Brother Hui, right?”
……
“Where’s Brother Hui?”
A middle-aged man holding a middle school biology textbook looked at Lu Bai in surprise as he emerged from the stairwell.
“Brother Hui just left. Didn’t he tell you?”
The pure smile on Lu Bai’s face was really easy to win people’s favor.
Though the middle-aged man felt something was off, he didn’t strike at Lu Bai right away.
“Left? How come I didn’t see him? Wait a sec, I don’t think I’ve seen you before?”
The middle-aged man noticed Lu Bai getting closer and cautiously stepped back two paces.
Lu Bai didn’t slow his pace and instead picked a random topic.
“Are you a biology teacher? I heard the biological realm is divided into phylum class order family genus species, but I don’t understand—why is family smaller than phylum and class?”
“Uh… because phylum and class come before family.”
The middle-aged man reflexively answered.
During the conversation, the distance between them had unknowingly closed to three meters.
Lu Bai shook his head with a smile: “Wrong answer.”
In the next instant, the scene in the corridor seemed to pause; Lu Bai appeared behind the middle-aged man, the whole process giving an extreme sense of disconnection.
Pfft!
Blood gushed from the middle-aged man’s wound; he had been instantly pierced through the heart with a sword, with no time to react.
He painfully knelt to the ground and, in his final moments of life, issued a hysterical warning.
“Enemy attack!”
Lu Bai was on the fifth floor, and there was more than just this one death fighter on this floor.
Even with the gunshots from downstairs interfering, within a few short seconds, several more death fighters rushed out from nearby offices.
At that moment, Lu Bai was just turning from the emergency exit door into the fifth floor corridor.
It was worth noting that these Survey Corps death fighters were currently a bit confused.
The gunshots hadn’t weakened; there was still fierce firefighting downstairs—how could a stranger appear in this position?
“Who are you?”
“Oh no, the ‘node’ is on him.”
“Where’s Brother Hui?”
“Never mind that—take him out first!”
