Chapter 178

Chapter 178: 178: Getting the marriage certificate first and then falling in love is not too late
"Do you want to go?" Jiang Baizhou finished a soup dumpling, took a sip of soy milk, and glanced sideways at Cen Jin beside him.
"To see the sea?" Cen Jin asked back.
Jiang Baizhou didn’t respond, but continued to gaze at her, quietly waiting for her answer.
"It’s too hot to see the sea now. I’m afraid of getting tanned. I already got much darker while running errands for the studio recently, and I can’t accept getting any darker. Let’s wait until the weather cools down! Besides, you’re busy with the clinic and school. We can plan later!" Although she mentioned seeing the sea, Cen Jin felt a bit excited inside. Since knowing him, they hadn’t traveled alone together.
The most memorable trip was back in first year of high school, just a school-organized field trip.
"Okay, as you say." Jiang Baizhou responded subtly. After finishing the last four soup dumplings on his plate and drinking a cup of soy milk, he got up to clear the dishes.
"Are you done eating?"
"Yeah."
"Let me do it! It’s almost eight. Just wait for me a bit. I’ll clean up, and we can head out." Upon hearing this, Cen Jin immediately got up to take the dishes from his hands.
But Jiang Baizhou didn’t let go and said with pursed lips, "Together."
Cen Jin smiled knowingly and agreed, picking up the other dishes and utensils to head into the kitchen. The two of them quickly washed the dishes together, and then hand in hand, they stepped out the door.
It was already past eight-thirty when they arrived at the civil affairs bureau. Cen Jin took a deep breath at the entrance, unsure if it was excitement or nerves that made it difficult for her to move her feet.
Once she walked in, she would come out as a married woman.
Thinking about the events of the past few days, Cen Jin found it unbelievable. In less than a week, she was no longer single, and even more so, she was getting married.
"What’s wrong?" Seeing her hesitate, Jiang Baizhou turned to look at her, his deep eyes slightly narrowed, "Having second thoughts?"
"No... not really." Cen Jin instinctively refuted, "It’s just... I’m a bit nervous. Are you nervous?"
Jiang Baizhou looked calm and unhurried, even seeming a bit cheerful. He confidently retorted, "What’s there to be nervous about getting married? It’s not like we’re pretending or getting caught. Let’s go." With that, he unreservedly pulled her into the civil affairs bureau.
Hearing him say this, Cen Jin suddenly didn’t feel nervous and gave him two big eye rolls in response.
Since it was a Monday, a regular workday, and still early, there weren’t many people lining up to get a marriage certificate. The two took a form from the staff to fill out. Once completed, Cen Jin spread her hand in front of him, "Look, my palm’s all sweaty."
Jiang Baizhou glanced at her palm, chuckled, and teasingly asked, "Nervous about marrying me?"
"What kind of question is that? I’d be nervous marrying anyone, especially since it’s my first time! By the time we walk out of here, I’ll be a married woman! It’s my first time in a relationship at twenty-six, and now I’m getting a marriage certificate in less than a week. Isn’t it a bit too quick? Should we... hesitate a little longer? Get to know each other better before getting the certificate?" Cen Jin pursed her lips, glaring at him with mock annoyance, feeling quite uneasy as she spoke.
She hadn’t yet tasted the sweetness of romance before getting married.
"Getting the certificate first and falling in love later isn’t too late." Jiang Baizhou firmly held her hand, clearly not letting her back out, his tone very assertive, "My policy is no returns or exchanges allowed."
