Ye Lingran naturally wasn’t aware that they were plotting so meticulously. After heading to the Finance Department on the 9th floor and receiving some insincere praise from the director, she started to feel a bit light-headed, increasingly sensing something wasn’t quite right.
On her way to Yun Xi’s office, she bumped into a high-ranking executive she had met twice before. Standing there, they exchanged a few words—again full of flattery and praise. Ye Lingran had nearly become immune to it, responding with an awkward smile. After that, she took the elevator, breathed a heavy sigh of relief, and pressed the button for the 16th floor.
The 16th floor houses the offices of Yun Qi and Yun Xi. Previously, the Design Department director’s office was on the 15th floor. The Design Department was large, but due to dissatisfaction with the project proposals that didn’t meet Yun Qi’s standards, including all the designers, there was a major turnover. All the designers were fired, and five new ones were recruited based on the project’s design requirements. One was selected as the team leader. After Yun Xi returned to the country, she became the Design Department’s director. Disliking the poor renovations on the 16th floor, she had a new Design Department set up on the other side of the floor, styled to her personal taste. Under Yun Group now, the Design Department consists of Yun Xi, her assistant, and five others, but it’s much more efficient than when it had more than ten people. Currently, the 15th floor is the Public Relations Department.
Stepping out of the elevator on the 16th floor, Ye Lingran glanced at the signs. On the left, it read ’President’s Secretary’s Office’; on the right, ’Design Department.’ She paused momentarily, before heading towards the Design Department on the right.
After entering the automatic double doors of the Design Department, Ye Lingran found her way to Yun Xi’s office. The office was fully transparent with glass walls, and the automatic blinds weren’t drawn, so it was clear Yun Xi wasn’t there.
"Miss Ye?"
The suddenly familiar voice startled Ye Lingran, making her turn abruptly. It was Yun Xi’s assistant, smiling brightly at her. Ye Lingran steadied herself and smiled gently, "Assistant Jiang."
"Why are you here? Are you looking for Director Yun?"
Ye Lingran nodded with a smile and handed over a Chanel handbag in her hand, "Yes, she left her bag and phone yesterday, so I decided to bring them over today while I had some business here. Is she not around?"
"Oh, Director Yun went to Wang Group at ten this morning for discussions. She hasn’t returned yet, and she might be back very late..."
"In that case, I’ll leave her bag and phone with you. Please return them to her when she comes back."
"Sure." Assistant Jiang took them cheerfully, "Would you like a coffee, Miss Ye?"
"No, you’re busy, and I won’t disturb your work."
"Well then, take care, Miss Ye. I’ll definitely let the director know once she’s back." Assistant Jiang nodded slightly, watching her leave. As she was about to return Yun Xi’s bag to her office, a girl approached, commenting, "Miss Ye’s voice is so gentle, and her demeanor is so elegant. She’s beautiful, and her smile feels so healing. She and President Yun seem quite a good match!"
In her mind, Assistant Jiang compared Yun Qi’s smile and speech with Ye Lingran’s smile and speech, agreeing wholeheartedly, "Yes, when you put it that way, they do seem quite compatible." After saying this, she realized and gently nudged her, "Alright, stop gossiping and get to work! When the director returns later, if she finds out we haven’t sorted that out yet, she’ll swallow us whole."
"You’re right, life preservation is crucial. I’m going to print the documents."
Ye Lingran walked out of the Design Department, heading towards the elevator. As she turned a corner, several people suddenly approached her, nearly causing a collision. Thankfully, she stopped in time, staring dazedly at the approaching group.
