Chapter 382: 005: My fiancée will misunderstand_3
Before, their scandal in Milan was all over the place. He had clarified externally, and many people assumed it was an admission. Later, when the media captured photos of the two and claimed further evidence that he was indeed engaged, he still didn’t clarify, including his company employees’ discussions.
Upon hearing this, Ding Jami widened her eyes in disbelief, turned back to look at Ye Lingran, and abruptly stood up, then turned to Yun Qi: "She... is the girlfriend from the news s? Isn’t that all gossip?"
"When did I say it was gossip?" Yun Qi’s tone was still gentle, but with a touch of detachment: "Miss Ding might be mistaken. I never said those rumors were false. I have always disliked the media and ers, and I don’t enjoy interviews, so I’ve never publicly acknowledged it. I thought, after the New Year, once we have our engagement banquet, it would answer the curious media. Besides, Miss Ding, our relationship is merely business cooperation; it doesn’t seem to be close enough for you to come visiting because of illness, so I thank you for coming today."
Ye Lingran was also stunned after hearing his words, but she understood that this woman harbored admiration for Yun Qi, which made her feel slightly uncomfortable inside. Her lips tightened, and her hands, resting vertically, clasped together.
"Are you asking me to leave?" Ding Jami’s face couldn’t hide her expression as she angrily retorted.
"Ling Ran, come here." Seeing that she hadn’t spoken all along, Yun Qi sighed silently, called out with a smile, and completely ignored Ding Jami’s question.
Ye Lingran raised her eyes to look at him, then, under Ding Jami’s angry gaze, reluctantly moved towards the edge of the bed. Once there, she softly asked, "Hmm? What’s up?"
Yun Qi laughed, reached out to hold her hand, his fingertips gently rubbing the delicate and fair skin on her hand’s back, his tone carrying a hint of helplessness and deep amusement: "You tell me what’s up. At least I’m your boyfriend, and in such a situation, you turned around and left. Were you trying to push me away?"
Ye Lingran was momentarily dazed, her lips moved again and again, staring at his eyes filled with deep affection and gentleness. Her heart began to race once more, unable to discern whether this was an act or his genuine feelings.
"Hmm?"
His light teasing monosyllable snapped Ye Lingran back to reality, making her shyly lower her head: "I... I thought you had work matters to discuss, so... I thought I’d leave to avoid disturbing you."
"I always keep business and private matters separate. Work-related issues are discussed at the company or social venues outside, where an assistant or secretary will always be present, not in my home or private space." Yun Qi was always meticulous, making a clear distinction between business and personal matters, so he reiterated this in front of Ding Jami while maintaining a deliberately clear stance with Ye Lingran.
Ye Lingran’s heart felt almost out of her own control, that kind of fluttering kept her from maintaining composure, eventually losing herself.
The sense of security he provided at this moment seemed to have exceeded her capacity to bear, almost making her truly believe that their relationship was indeed genuine.
Ding Jami watched their lovey-dovey display, even more annoyed: "Yun Qi, what do you mean by this? Despite the heavy snow, I came to see you, and is this how you treat me? If that’s the case, then there’s no need to continue our future cooperation, to avoid future awkward encounters and heartache."
"Miss Ding, take care, I won’t see you off." Yun Qi remained indifferent, watching her leave, offering a lukewarm farewell.
Ding Jami, who had just turned to leave, heard this and angrily turned back, glaring, stomped her foot and shouted: "Yun Qi, don’t you know I like you?"
"Thank you for your affection, Miss Ding, but I’m truly unworthy. I believe someone as outstanding as Miss Ding should have many suitors around. I have only one heart, and it can’t be divided between two people. I’m sorry to let Miss Ding down." Yun Qi remained calm, with an unwavering tone, yet his manner was gently elegant, maintaining polite distance in his words, all while never letting go of Ye Lingran’s delicate hand.
