After listening to her words, Yun Qi finished the medicine on the table and went back to bed. Only when Ye Lingran saw him close his eyes did she quietly leave the bedroom, carrying her stuff from the coffee table out of Yun Qi’s room. Before leaving, she deliberately took his room card, fearing that when she comes back she might have to ring the doorbell, forcing him to get up and open the door, which would interrupt his rest.
Because she got up early in the morning, Ye Lingran took a nap after returning to her own bedroom, waking up again at three in the afternoon.
The snow that had stopped earlier started to fall again, but it was obviously lighter than it had been in the morning. Ye Lingran dressed warmly with clothes and a scarf, took her bag and phone, and went out. Since she was unfamiliar with Jiang City, she specifically asked for directions at the hotel lobby’s reception and went alone to a nearby supermarket to buy the ingredients needed for dinner.
Actually, she didn’t need to go through such trouble, but she really didn’t trust the hotel’s food, and considering Yun Qi’s condition wasn’t good, it was a lot easier for her to cook in Nancheng without much hassle.
Thinking about it, this was her first time staying in a hotel and cooking for herself.
Following the directions given by the hotel front desk, Ye Lingran arrived at a nearby medium-sized supermarket and began selecting ingredients. Since she was only cooking dinner for tonight and breakfast for tomorrow morning, she didn’t buy much. After shopping for about twenty minutes, she had chosen all the ingredients she needed.
When she walked out of the supermarket, snowflakes were still falling from the sky. Ye Lingran walked in high-heeled ankle boots, making a ’crunch, crunch’ sound on the snowy ground. The cold wind gently swept past, piercing through her clothes with a biting chill, and the densely falling snow landed on her hair and shoulders as if adorning her with a white shawl.
When she passed by a milk tea shop, Ye Lingran stopped, and as her breath from her rosy lips turned into white mist, she pondered for a moment, checked the time on her mobile phone, and then decided to go in and buy a cup of hot coffee.
After staying inside for about several minutes, Ye Lingran walked out holding a cup of coffee. The hot coffee warmed her stomach, and she felt much warmer than she had felt before.
When she returned to the hotel, she finished her coffee and took the elevator to the floor where her room was located, just in time to see a waiter ringing the doorbell at her room. She quickly walked over and asked, "Hello, may I help you?"
"Miss Ye, you haven’t returned yet? I thought you came back already! These are the ingredients you instructed my colleague to prepare for you this afternoon, and the manager specially asked me to pack them in new bottles to deliver them to you. Please check and see if anything is missing, and feel free to instruct us." The waiter smiled sweetly at her and handed her the tray.
"Thank you, you’ve been very helpful." Ye Lingran took the tray and noticed that the contents were specially labeled. She smiled knowingly.
Seeing that she was carrying a bag, the waiter quickly asked, "Miss Ye, shall I help you carry it inside?"
"Thank you, but there’s no need. I can handle it myself. You’ve already been a great help."
"This is what we’re supposed to do. Miss Ye is too modest. If you need anything else or have any issues, don’t hesitate to call the front desk at any time." The waiter nodded slightly at her and then walked past Ye Lingran leaving.
Ye Lingran looked at the ingredients and supplies in her hands and glanced back and forth between the doors of her own room and the one next door, thinking that once the meal was ready, she would have to carry it over, making several trips. So she simply swiped the room card to open the door of the room next door and went inside.
After putting down the items in the kitchen, Ye Lingran went to the bedroom door, just reaching out to open the door only to have it suddenly open. A handsome figure came into view, holding a phone to his ear. As their gazes met in the air, Ye Lingran froze, and just then, a very pleasant and melodious English ringtone began playing from her bag on the kitchen counter.
Yun Qi glanced at her and was momentarily stunned. He ended the call in his hand, and the melodious ringtone ceased. The two stood at the door, one tall, one short, with one standing outside and the other inside, gazing at each other.
Perhaps catching sight of her attire and the snowflakes falling on her clothes, Yun Qi gradually came back to his senses and asked, "You went out?"
