"Since work is done, why not spend a couple of days here in Jiang City? Take your fiancée out for a nice walk! Jiang City has many fun places, it’s rare to be out here!" He Xuhang spoke with a meaningful wink at Ye Lingran, smiling.
Yun Qi laughed at the suggestion, glanced sideways at Ye Lingran: "Her studio is quite busy recently. She joined me in Jiang City this time for business. She mentioned earlier today that her assistant was calling her this morning, saying she needs to return to Nancheng tomorrow. I’ve already booked tomorrow’s early flight."
"I see! What does Miss Ye do for work? She has her own studio?"
"Bridal design." Ye Lingran replied with a gentle smile, her voice warm and soft. She had been quietly listening to their conversation, perceiving another side of Yun Qi from their dialogue, and couldn’t help but glance at him. It seemed that Yun Qi’s demeanor in business was somewhat different from the Yun Qi she knew in real life.
"Oh, bridal design! That’s a bit similar to Yun Qi’s company’s industry."
Ye Lingran smiled warmly without saying anything.
Throughout the meal, Ye Lingran barely spoke unless they addressed her. She did have a couple of drinks with them, but when He Xuhang tried to pour her a third glass, she waved her hand to refuse. Yun Qi, watching her demeanor, agreed that she shouldn’t drink more and shook his head at He Xuhang.
When Yun Qi spoke up, He Xuhang didn’t insist and simply encouraged Ye Lingran to eat more and not be too reserved. Afterwards, it was mainly him and Yun Qi drinking. By half-past nine, there were already two empty wine bottles on the table.
Ye Lingran had finished eating long ago. Watching the two continue, she didn’t want to leave the table early, so she sat there quietly listening to them talk. Yet she felt a faint worry about Yun Qi’s condition, not concerned about how they would return to the hotel, but worried that he’d suffer later if he drank too much.
When He Xuhang went to the restroom, Ye Lingran took the opportunity to tug at his clothes. As he looked over, she leaned in to quietly remind him, "You... drink less, you’ll feel bad later. Besides... the injury on your hand isn’t good for drinking too much."
Listening to her concerned tone, Yun Qi couldn’t help but smile, his gentle gaze mixed with strands of depth: "Don’t trust my drinking ability?"
"This has nothing to do with how much you can drink, okay? Did you forget what Doctor Gao advised that day? Plus... if you drink too much now... how will we get back to the hotel later? Planning to drive under the influence? We have a flight to catch early tomorrow!" In a slightly teasing tone, Ye Lingran rarely showed displeasure, glaring at him, and lamely made up an excuse.
"The flight is in the afternoon, we’ll make it. Later, we’ll let Xuhang’s driver take us back, then return the car directly to him without driving it back to the hotel. Tomorrow afternoon, we can either have the hotel staff drop us at the airport or take a taxi ourselves."
