Ye Lingran stared at him blankly; they hadn’t seen each other for a while. He still looked radiant and gentle, though his handsome face showed obvious signs of fatigue, and his voice was a bit hoarse, making one feel a pang of sympathy.
"Have you been drinking?" Yun Qi hadn’t seen her for a long time either. Looking at the blush on her charming face, he softened his tone and asked gently.
"I have... but not much, just two glasses of iced beer."
"Get in the car first!"

"I arrived a bit after nine, my luggage is still in the trunk."

He glanced through the rearview mirror at Yun Xi, who was already asleep in the back seat, his lips pressed into a straight line: "What’s up with her? How did she end up this drunk?"
Ye Lingran listened, turned back to look at Yun Xi, and remembering her crying earlier today, she wondered whether Yun Xi wanted Yun Qi to know about it, thought for a moment, and said: "You should probably ask her about it tomorrow when she’s sober. It’s not really my place to say."
Yun Qi listened, raised an eyebrow, but didn’t say much more, just asked, "Did you ladies eat?"
"Yeah, we did. We started at six-thirty and kept eating till nine-forty. She ordered a full table of dishes but barely touched them." Ye Lingran nodded, her words tinged with a hint of helplessness. After speaking, she looked at him, asking in return, "What about you? Did you eat?"
"No, besides breakfast, I haven’t eaten all day."
"Not even lunch?"
"No, I was in meetings at noon, no time to eat. After they ended, I took a flight back, I was so tired I slept for a few hours on the plane to feel better."
Ye Lingran looked at him with some sympathy, pressing her lips together: "That busy? So busy you can’t even eat or sleep? Seeing your dark circles, I guess you haven’t slept well either!"
"Yeah, there was a problem with an order at Anluo’s place, kind of tricky, time was tight, so I couldn’t afford any delay, had to minimize the losses. Only finished it all tonight, slept for a few hours on the plane, so I’m okay."
"Aren’t you hungry now? Not planning to eat something?"
"I do want to eat, but what about her? Leave a drunk here?"
Ye Lingran was at a loss, unable to say anything. At this hour, many restaurants were already closed, and only late-night eateries were open. Besides, it wasn’t like she could go eat and leave the two of them in the car, or drag Yun Xi, who was dead drunk, inside to eat. Wouldn’t that be too strange?
