Chapter 474

Chapter 474: 034: Wedding_2
"Is it that good?" Yun Qi asked with a smile, watching her look so satisfied after taking a sip.
He usually prefers coffee and generally avoids milk tea.
"Yeah, it’s pretty good. Do you want to try..." Ye Lingran nodded with a smile. Without thinking, she offered the milk tea to him. It wasn’t until she almost finished speaking that she realized it might not be appropriate and tried to withdraw her hand. However, Yun Qi suddenly grabbed her hand and lowered his head to take a sip of her milk tea.
Ye Lingran was stunned, her face turned red instantly. After he straightened up, she stared at the straw in a daze. Did this count as an... indirect kiss?
But... they had actually kissed before, so it shouldn’t really matter. Yet her heart was still racing, ’thump thump thump’, as she looked at him with a bit of embarrassment: "So... how is it?"
"Hmm, it’s good, just the right sweetness." Yun Qi nodded with satisfaction and then brought his own cup of coffee to her lips: "Do you want to try mine?"
Ye Lingran paused, brushed her hair with her hand hesitantly, leaned over to take a sip, and then immediately widened her eyes in surprise, covering her mouth with her hand, and asked in amazement, "Why... is it so bitter?"
Seeing her reaction, Yun Qi couldn’t help but laugh: "Maybe the staff mistook the seven sugars for zero sugars."
"Can you drink that?"
"No worries, I’ll drink yours later."
"..."
Ye Lingran was speechless. His response was so straightforward and taken for granted that she didn’t know how to reply.
Once they arrived at the cinema on the third floor of the mall, Ye Lingran pondered for quite a while before choosing a slightly bittersweet romantic movie called "Nanmu in the North," and from what she’d seen online, the ending was supposedly tragic. However, the plot and casting seemed quite good and worth watching.
The movie was scheduled to start at 3:57 in the afternoon, about twenty minutes from now, so the two waited on the sofa in the lobby. Since it was a Monday, there weren’t many people coming to watch the movie, so the lobby was relatively sparse.
After sitting for about six or seven minutes, Ye Lingran felt a bit restless. Having finished her milk tea and anticipating the movie ahead, she got up and suggested, "I’ll go buy some snacks, you wait here for me." With that, she didn’t give Yun Qi a chance to object and quickly jogged off to the snack stand near the ticket booth.
A few minutes later, Ye Lingran returned with two cups of cola, a large tub of mixed fries and popcorn, and even carried a small cake in her hand. Struggling to hold everything, she sped up her pace to reach Yun Qi and said urgently, "Quick, help me catch this, it’s about to fall."
Upon hearing this, Yun Qi quickly raised his hands to catch the popcorn tucked under her arm and took one of the cups of cola from her: "If you couldn’t manage, why not call me?"
"Well, I figured it was just a few steps away," Ye Lingran replied with an awkward smile, having overestimated herself.
Soon, it was time to enter. The two walked in together, sat down according to their ticket numbers, and noticed that most of the audience seemed to be girls and couples. The plot began with the main characters in high school, making it quite fun and sweet at first. Even Ye Lingran, who rarely watched romance films, found it a bit poignant. But after graduation, things started to turn.
Several girls in the cinema started crying. Ye Lingran found it bearable, though she felt for the film’s protagonists, it wasn’t enough to make her cry. This kind of youthful romance, sweet as a honey pot at its best, yet like a cup of unsweetened bitter coffee at its worst, was filled with impossibilities, pain, and sweetness.
The movie ended with the main characters being separated by life and death, which was truly lamentable. Despite their deep love for each other, the plot managed to draw tears from the audience. If Ye Lingran hadn’t held back, she too would have come out of the cinema with red eyes.
By the time they left the mall, it was already close to six o’clock. Twilight had settled in, and the sunset’s afterglow stretched their shadows long. Ye Lingran picked a nearby restaurant, and after ordering, Yun Qi asked, "How’s Grandma doing lately?"
Ye Lingran smiled and nodded: "She’s much better this year compared to last year. I had dinner with her last Friday night. She’s quite healthy, and even the caregiver says she’s eating more than before, insisting on having meat or she gets a bit cranky!"
