"Hehe, I heard today there’s my favorite soup-filled vegetarian buns at Dining Hall 2." Lu Shishu smiled faintly, casually making up an excuse to brush it off.
"The dining hall doesn’t open until six-thirty, why are you heading over now?"
Lu Shishu scratched his head awkwardly and smiled: "Dining Hall 2 is far from our dorm, so I thought I’d go early to avoid the line."
"I see! Well, hurry then!"
"Okay."
Lu Shishu jogged away dejectedly. It was still early, and there weren’t many people outside. He quickly headed to the spot where he climbed the wall yesterday to find his phone and wallet. After searching around, he still couldn’t find them, which made him a bit frustrated. He thought for a moment and decided to head towards the security office. But halfway there, he hesitated. Wouldn’t going there be like admitting it without being questioned?
The more he thought about it, the more conflicted he became.
"Young lady, what are you doing here this early?"
Upon hearing this, Lu Shishu jolted and turned around, grinning at the security uncle: "Well... I wanted to ask if you found a phone or wallet yesterday."
"Lost yesterday?"
"Yeah, do you have them?"
"No, but there is a key with a cute little yellow thing hanging on it." The security uncle thought seriously: "Why don’t you come in and see if there’s anything you lost."
"In that case, never mind. Thank you!" After hearing that, Lu Shishu gave him a sweet smile, slightly bowed, and then waved goodbye before jogging to Dining Hall 3, the closest to their dorm, with a clear look of distress on her face.
Looks like I have to buy a new phone and make two trips to the bank.
At the dining hall, while choosing her meal, Cen Jin also arrived and sidled up to her, asking softly: "How’s it going? Did you find them?"
Lu Shishu turned her head to look at her, then shook her head despondently: "No, I even asked at the security office, but they don’t have them."
"They can’t just disappear into thin air!" Cen Jin furrowed her brows in disbelief: "Did they really drop outside?"
"Impossible, when I climbed the wall yesterday I specifically checked the time. The phone was put away then, and the card was still inside!" Lu Shishu replied with certainty, confident she wouldn’t forget this detail. Suddenly, a thought crossed her mind, and her expression became serious, muttering to herself: "Could it be... he picked them up? It’s unlikely, but... there’s no one else except him!"
"Shi Shu, what are you talking about?" Cen Jin heard her muttering but didn’t catch what she was saying, so she curiously nudged her.
Lu Shishu snapped out of it, shook her head, and sighed in frustration: "Nothing, forget it, I should find time to go to the bank! Let’s just eat!" She said, choosing two random things and carrying her tray to find a seat.
Last night the streetlights weren’t very bright, and there were trees around. She did see his face, he seemed like a handsome guy, but because of the urgency, she didn’t look closely. Plus, there are thousands of people on this campus!
Not knowing his name, or which department he’s from, looking for him is really difficult.
After taking a few bites, the more Lu Shishu thought about it, the more uncomfortable she felt, ultimately losing her appetite completely, she looked up and asked: "What’s the time?"
"Just past seven."
Lu Shishu sighed: "I can’t eat, I’ve lost my appetite. I’m going to head to the teaching building first, you take your time to eat. I’ll get lunch before you and save a seat for you."
"Alright."
After packing up her meal, Lu Shishu slowly walked towards the teaching building with a very downcast mood since it was still early. Without a phone on her, she couldn’t check the time, so she had to go to the classroom early.
As it neared eight o’clock, more and more students gathered in the classroom, and those familiar with Lu Shishu greeted her with smiles: "Shi Shu, you don’t look good, didn’t sleep well?"
"Yeah, I had a nightmare last night and woke up early this morning, and then couldn’t sleep." Lu Shishu smiled faintly, making up a random excuse.
"Are you alright then?"
"I’m fine." Lu Shishu smiled and shook her head.
Just as she finished speaking, someone quietly sat down on her left side, and the girls who had been chatting with her earlier suddenly became visibly excited.
