Those words attracted everyone’s attention. Facing the stares from all around, Lu Shishu remained calm, glanced around, and soon spotted Nan Jiayan in the waiting area.
Ling Xuyang was the first to notice them and waved, "Over here."
Nan Jiayan had been texting Lu Shishu to ask when he’d arrive, but at Ling Xuyang’s words, he looked up. When the silhouette in the pale brick-red dress caught his eyes, his gaze paused, and his expression momentarily froze. His Adam’s apple bobbed slightly, and the depths of his eyes softened with tender affection, a small smile playing at the corners of his lips. Holding his phone, he slowly stood and took a small step forward, only to see her being led over by Lin Xuwan beside her.
They greeted each other, and Lu Shishu couldn’t help but notice Nan Jiayan staring at him, so he glanced at Nan Jiayan and awkwardly asked, "Why... are you staring at me like that?"
Nan Jiayan laughed without restraint, "You look really nice in that dress."
Flustered by the compliment, Lu Shishu averted his eyes without saying anything further.
"Right! Good eye. I picked this dress. It took quite some effort to get her to wear it. Not easy at all!" Lin Xuwan chuckled, leaning toward Ling Xuyang. "Give your best for the match later!"
Ling Xuyang, smiling, gently touched her forehead, his eyes full of affection, "Sure, can I get a lucky kiss?"
Lin Xuwan shyly smiled. Without being bashful, she tiptoed and, in front of everyone, planted a kiss on Ling Xuyang, giving everyone a hefty dose of PDA.
Nearby, He Qianyue could no longer stand it and rolled her eyes, "I mean, everyone’s watching! Can you consider the feelings of us single dogs? Public displays like this should be illegal!"
Lin Xuwan playfully smiled and stuck out her tongue at her.
Cen Jin, however, remained very calm, maintaining a gentle and serene smile without joining the conversation. After all, she didn’t have much of an opinion on such things; her only thought wasn’t even by her side at the moment.
"Go take your seats! Ah Ze has saved spots for you!" Nan Jiayan, observing Lu Shishu’s embarrassed expression, chuckled to himself. Watching Ling Xuyang and Lin Xuwan openly flaunt their affection, a hint of envy surged in his heart. Those two got together just after watching a movie; how long would he have to pursue before succeeding?
Sigh! It was tough for him too.
Lu Shishu and He Qianyue looked toward the first row of seats in the audience; sure enough, six seats were vacant, and Ming Haize was seated there. He Qianyue exchanged a glance with him without saying anything, then withdrew her gaze and pulled Cen Jin and Lu Shishu by the arm toward the seats, "Let’s go! Let’s leave Wanwan to flaunt her love!"
"Hey, don’t! Wait for me!" Lin Xuwan waved at Ling Xuyang and mouthed ’good luck’ before catching up.
Being quite astute, Lu Shishu and her group left the seat next to Ming Haize for He Qianyue, Lu Shishu sat beside her, Cen Jin sat in the middle, and Lin Xuwan took the edge seat.
At 1:45, the game officially started. Among them, Lin Xuwan was the most excited and cheered the loudest. Cen Jin, sitting beside her, almost had her ears deafened, even though it wasn’t Ling Xuyang’s turn yet. Why was she so excited?
Lu Shishu glanced around and whispered to He Qianyue, "Have you seen Yan Chengxi and the others?"
"Saw them when we came in, sitting in the fourth row behind us. Xiao Yuwan and Zhuo Siqi are there too, three of them sitting together! You might not have noticed, but when you came in, Yan Chengxi’s eyes were about to pop out, and didn’t you hear the people behind talking just now?" He Qianyue mumbled, eyes still on the court.
"What?" Lu Shishu was bewildered. She had been focused on watching the game. The first goal scored by Nan Jiayan’s team had her remember the main point.
"They were saying you and Nan Jiayan make a better pair, and that Yan Chengxi doesn’t match well with Nan Jiayan. I just glanced back, and Yan Chengxi’s face turned green when she heard that. It was pretty spectacular."
"Keep an eye on her. After the game, we need to settle this with her! Can’t rely on Wanwan."
"Okay, won’t let her off for sure, don’t worry."
Lu Shishu smirked and raised an eyebrow before focusing on the match. This game was between the Watercolor Department and the Architectural Design Department. Both teams were neck and neck, keeping everyone on edge with anticipation, even making Lu Shishu’s heart race.
Watching Nan Jiayan on the court, drenched in sweat yet confidently running, Lu Shishu suddenly began to see him in a new light. Perhaps he wasn’t as bad as she previously thought; he indeed had quite a few virtues. For example, he’s good at basketball, and currently, he appears to be quite respectable in his behaviors.
Even though he’s quite popular with girls and surrounded by them, he always maintains a polite distance.
After the first half ended and they returned to the rest area, Nan Jiayan intentionally glanced over and smiled, winking at her before discussing strategies with his teammates.
Once they decided on a game plan, while resting on the bench, Yan Chengxi suddenly walked over from the aisle with a bottle of water in her hand. In full view of everyone, she walked behind Nan Jiayan, softly calling him. Once Nan Jiayan turned around, it’s unclear what she said, but she bashfully lowered her head and offered him the water.
Nan Jiayan glanced at the bottle in her hand, then smiled at her, said a few words, gestured over to Lu Shishu, and shook a bottle of mineral water he already had.
Immediately after, Yan Chengxi could be seen lowering her hand holding the water bottle in disappointment, lips pursed. This scene set everyone abuzz, and He Qianyue and Lin Xuwan couldn’t help but laugh mercilessly. As Yan Chengxi passed by, they even mocked, "Some people just love showing affection to those who don’t care for it. Being rejected so many times but still shamelessly doing it."
"Hey, that’s not right. Maybe she’s trying to secure an unfair advantage!" Lin Xuwan laughed and chimed in, with the two echoing each other’s words.
