Chapter 544: 019: Heartache_3
"It’s none of your business." Lu Shishu forcefully withdrew her hand and pushed him away.
Nan Jiayan chuckled, thinking about her instinctive reaction earlier, and looked at her with meaningful eyes, but said nothing.
Perhaps feeling a bit uneasy under his gaze, Lu Shishu frowned in displeasure, "Why are you looking at me like that? I grabbed you just now because I’m afraid if you die later, I’ll be indirectly guilty and my future will be ruined."
The smile in Nan Jiayan’s eyes grew deeper, yet he still silently watched her.
Lu Shishu didn’t bother to argue with him anymore, and turned to leave, but suddenly a dizzy spell hit her, causing her steps to falter again and her body to sway. Nan Jiayan quickly caught her, sighed helplessly, and softened his tone, "You can hit me or say what you want about me, but can I drive you home now? You drank so much, I’m really worried. Besides, that bottle of German whiskey is particularly strong, and now you’re feeling its effects. Is your head dizzy, chest hot, and very uncomfortable?"
Although Lu Shishu could hear him clearly, he appeared as a blur before her eyes, and her head was truly spinning so much that she couldn’t stand steadily. She had underestimated the strength of that bottle.
Seeing her leaning against him for support, with a pained expression, he knew she was still forcing herself. With a silent sigh, he effortlessly lifted her in his arms and walked toward his car.
As she felt herself lifted into the air, Lu Shishu only felt as if the world was spinning. Her hand instinctively grabbed his clothing, and a faint but familiar scent surrounded her, prompting her to protest, "Nan Jiayan... let me down, I can walk myself." But her words were unsteady and muddled, lacking any threat or warning.
Nan Jiayan didn’t pay her any mind, and despite her protest, he placed her into the passenger seat, secured her seatbelt, and whispered, "Be good, lean back if you’re uncomfortable. I’ll take you home." He then shut the car door and tossed her bag onto the back seat.
In recent years, Lu Shishu had developed a fondness for drinking, with a room in her home dedicated to storing various liquors. She enjoyed drinking but usually in a state of clear consciousness and drowsiness. She hadn’t felt this drunk in a long time, unable to open her eyes, with her headache intensifying unbearably, almost making her feel like she’s going to throw up.
Once Nan Jiayan got into the driver’s seat, he saw Lu Shishu leaning back with her eyes tightly shut, appearing uncomfortable. He gently called out twice, "Shi Shu, do you feel terrible?"
Yet Lu Shishu continued to keep her eyes closed, showing no intention of responding. Nan Jiayan sighed in heartache, "Drink less in the future. Drinking so much is bad for your health, and you suffer for it."
Without waiting for Lu Shishu to respond, Nan Jiayan started the car and drove out of the parking lot into the traffic.
The autumn night carried a slight chill, with the bright silver moon hanging on the azure sky, reflecting on the shimmering river and painting the banks with dazzling lights, vibrant and captivating. The car moved smoothly, and as Lu Shishu felt slightly better, she slowly squinted at the night scene outside the window. Once they crossed the bridge, she gradually became sleepy, closed her eyes again, and tried to suppress the discomfort and dizziness, striving to sleep peacefully.
From Nanfeng District it was about a half-hour drive, and with Nan Jiayan’s slow driving, it took a good fifty minutes or so. After parking the car, he walked around to the passenger side, opened the door, and saw Lu Shishu sleeping with a knitted brow. He gently pressed his lips together.
After a moment, he slowly raised his hand to gently brush her eyebrows. His actions were so tender and cautious that as he touched her, her furrowed brow relaxed somewhat, and her sleep appeared slightly more peaceful.
"Shi Shu, I’m sorry," Nan Jiayan whispered, looking at her with concern, then leaned closer, "We’re home."
As he spoke, he unbuckled her seatbelt, carefully lifted her from the car, shut the door with his foot, locked the car with the key, and carried her into the building, waiting at the elevator with ease and zero pressure.
