Chapter 549: 021: The Hurdle You Can’t Overcome_2
Nan Jiayan heard this and couldn’t help but laugh, gently poking her forehead: "What, did you get so drunk that you muddled your brains too? You used to be so smart, you know!"
Lu Shishu gave him a sidelong glance in displeasure, swatting his hand away in exasperation: "If you can’t say anything nice, just keep your mouth shut, no one’s treating you like a mute."
Hearing her retort, Nan Jiayan didn’t feel hurt at all. Instead, he felt delighted, as if he was back in their passionate college days when she would frequently tease him. He found it especially joyful, sometimes enjoying provoking her just to see her adorable angry reaction.
"You forget your house has a password and fingerprint lock, and I don’t know your password, so I had no choice but to bring you to my place," Nan Jiayan explained with a smile as he noticed her getting angry.
"Couldn’t you have just woken me up?"
"Seeing how uncomfortable you were and sleeping so soundly, how could I bear to?"
"You..."
He had indeed mastered the art of being roguish, and she knew she couldn’t win against him. So these pointless arguments weren’t worth her concern or discussion, and she prepared to walk past him and leave for her own home.
Especially with the strong scent of alcohol she was emanating, she couldn’t stand it any longer. She really wanted to go back and take a hot shower to wash away the smell before lying down in her bed, as her head was still feeling quite heavy.
"Hey, where are you going?" As she passed by, Nan Jiayan naturally grabbed her arm, inadvertently casting a glance downward, noting that she was still barefoot. His thick, dark eyebrows immediately furrowed into an expression of concern, and he instantly scooped her up horizontally: "You just drank last night, and if you catch a cold today, it would be troublesome. You went out without even wearing shoes. Besides, I already made breakfast and hangover soup. Come and eat first! I’ll get your shoes."
"Hey! Nan Jiayan, put me down, what are you doing?" Being suddenly lifted in his arms, Lu Shishu was a bit flustered, and images from last night flashed in her mind of being similarly carried after getting drunk, triggering a somewhat exaggerated reaction.
"Don’t move, be good. Does your head still hurt?" Despite her reluctance, Nan Jiayan spoke softly, as if coaxing a child, his tone and gaze full of indulgence, with no intention of letting her go. He carried her to the dining table without rushing to put her down.
Lu Shishu pressed her forehead with one hand to suppress the dizziness. She wasn’t sure if it was the alcohol being too strong this time, or her body’s tolerance being weaker, but since drinking last night, her dizziness hadn’t stopped. Even while sleeping, she felt light except for her head, which felt especially heavy.
"Be good and have the hangover soup and breakfast, okay?" Seeing her still looking uncomfortable, Nan Jiayan softened his voice further, and only when he saw no intention of rebuttal did he gently place her on a chair, sliding the bowl of soup and breakfast in front of her.
"They’re already lukewarm; if you wait any longer, they’ll get cold," Nan Jiayan said with a light laugh.
Lu Shishu looked at the beautifully made breakfast and the bowl of soup with such a pure appearance, feeling somewhat hungry and developing a slight appetite, though she wasn’t too eager to eat anything he made.
"Don’t just look, pick up your chopsticks. Or... do you want me to feed you?" Nan Jiayan raised an eyebrow with a playful smile, his eyes flickering with mischief as he looked at her with intrigue.
Lu Shishu paused, her expression turning icy, giving him a disapproving glance: "Stop it with the sweet talk."
"I’m telling the truth, if you don’t move, I really might feed you." Nan Jiayan propped his hands on the table, gesturing with his eyes towards the bowl of soup in front of her: "Drinking this will make your stomach feel better and help relieve your headache. Listen, drink it. You can be mad at me, but don’t hold grudges against your body, okay?"
"Meow~"
Just as Nan Jiayan finished speaking, the little guy, Buxia, suddenly jumped onto the chair next to Lu Shishu, letting out a cute meow in a very obedient manner.
Lu Shishu glanced at it, and suddenly another cat came trotting over, the very same one that had stared her down with disdain in the bedroom just moments ago. She paused, puzzled: "Two cats?"
