Chapter 497

Chapter 497: Unexpected Guest (2)
By the time he caught up, Feng Wu saw the masked man sneak into his Master’s courtyard.
’As expected. He really has come for Master.’
Without giving the masked man a chance to move closer to the main building in the courtyard, Feng Wu sent signals to his subordinates.
Do it now.
Seeing that they had received his order, Feng Wu nodded, and all of them charged toward the masked man at the same time.
Whoosh! Whoosh!
Sensing the incoming murderous intent approaching at high speed from all directions, the masked man instinctively kicked off the rooftop and dodged to the side.
Before his soles touched the roof, Feng Wu’s sword was already inches away from his throat. Without thinking, he drew his sword to block the attack.
Clang!
As the two stared into each other’s eyes while passing each other, their internal energies collided.
Boom!
Pushed back by the explosion, both of them were sent flying several meters away.
As Feng Wu and the masked man landed on the ground, the rest of the shadow guards charged toward the masked man.
Unlike Feng Wu, he didn’t have time to steady himself. Facing the shadow guards’ relentless attacks, the masked man had no choice but to fight back while retreating.
Inside the main building, Feng Xiyan heard the sounds of battle outside. Placing the military book he was reading aside, he grabbed his black sword from the sword rack and rushed out to check on the situation.
By the time he arrived, Feng Wu and the others had already pushed the masked man into a desperate situation.
When the masked man saw Feng Xiyan approaching, his eyes lit up.
While defending against Feng Wu and the others, he shouted desperately, "Great General Feng, I’m from the Hong Sha Pavilion! I have come with a message from my Pavilion Master!"
The moment his words fell, Feng Wu kicked him in the chest, sending the masked man crashing into the wall.
Boom! Thud!
"Cough!"
Before the masked man could catch his breath after coughing out a mouthful of blood, he felt something cold pressed against his neck.
Looking up, he saw Feng Wu standing before him, sword at his throat, while the other shadow guards surrounded him with their weapons ready.
Seeing him tighten his grip on his sword, Feng Wu moved his sword slightly, drawing a thin line of blood from the masked man’s neck.
"Stay still," Feng Wu commanded coldly.
When Feng Xiyan arrived, the shadow guards clasped their fists and greeted him. "Master."
Turning to Feng Xiyan, Feng Wu also greeted him. "Master."
Feng Xiyan nodded in response, then stepped in front of the masked man. Looking at him, he calmly asked, "Who sent you here?"
When the masked man reached into his clothes, Feng Wu’s sword pressed deeper.
The masked man froze but said calmly, "My Pavilion Master has a letter for Great General Feng."
Feng Xiyan stared at him for a few seconds before raising his hand.
Receiving the signal, Feng Wu withdrew his sword, took a few steps back, and stood behind Feng Xiyan, his eyes fixed on the masked man.
Seeing that Feng Xiyan allowed it, the masked man quickly took out the letter and handed it to him.
Feng Xiyan took the letter and read it calmly. A moment later, he looked at the masked man. "Tell your Pavilion Master that this general will be waiting for his explanation."
After speaking, Feng Xiyan waved his hand, and the shadow guards stepped back.
Pushing himself up from the ground, the masked man wiped the blood from his lips and clasped his fists. "Thank you for sparing my life, Great General Feng. I will relay your words to the Pavilion Master."
With that, he cautiously retreated to create distance, then activated his lightness skill and disappeared from the courtyard.
Sheathing his sword, Feng Wu asked, "Master, why did you let that man go? Weren’t the people who tried to assassinate you before from the Hong Sha Pavilion?"
Feng Xiyan handed the letter to Feng Wu and waited for him to finish reading it.
"Master, the Hong Sha Pavilion is the strongest hidden organization in Jiang Hu. Who would dare to impersonate them and assassinate you?" Feng Wu asked doubtfully.
Hearing this, the corner of Feng Xiyan’s lips curved upward. "It’s not impossible. Many people want my life. This kind of crude trick of throwing dirty water and using the Hong Sha Pavilion as a scapegoat can only be done by a few."
Seeing Feng Wu deep in thought, Feng Xiyan smiled faintly. "Alright, it’s getting late. You should all go eat and treat your injuries."
Clasping their fists, Feng Wu and the shadow guards responded, "Yes, Master."
After Feng Xiyan returned to his bedroom, Feng Wu turned to the shadow guards. "Are you all alright?"
The shadow guards nodded.
"Just some minor injuries," Shi Wu replied.
Feng Wu glanced at their wounds and muttered, "That masked man isn’t simple. Being able to survive our combined attack isn’t something an ordinary assassin could do."
Hearing this, Shi San and the others nodded in agreement.
After a brief pause, he said, "Captain, I once encountered the four guardians of the Hong Sha Pavilion during a mission. One of them looked like that masked man."
Feng Wu’s expression sank at his words. "You mean... that masked man was one of the Hong Sha Pavilion’s guardians?"
Shi San nodded. "Yes."
Receiving his confirmation, Feng Wu pondered for a second, then instructed, "Go back and treat your wounds. No need to wait for me for dinner."
Knowing his intent, Shi San and the others clasped their fists. "Yes, Captain."
After they left, Feng Wu went to find Feng Xiyan.
Sitting behind the long table in the inner room, Feng Xiyan asked without lifting his head, "Why haven’t you gone to eat yet?"
Feng Wu clasped his fists and replied, "Master, this subordinate has something to ."
Looking up from the military book, Feng Xiyan calmly asked, "What is it?"
