My Avatar Is Becoming the Final Boss-Chapter 89: Performance (Two)

Chapter 89

This was a nationwide live news broadcast across Japan.
In the high-definition footage, Black Cocoon sat on the railing of Tokyo Tower’s exhibition deck, legs crossed, pulling out a notebook and a pencil from who-knows-where.
He began humming as he sketched and doodled in the notebook with the pencil. After a while, he slowly turned the notebook toward the helicopter’s camera.
The cameraman zoomed in as much as possible. The er directed the spotlight onto the notebook to show all of Japan exactly what Black Cocoon was writing.
Before the image became clear, everyone expected it to be a "crime announcement."
But the truth defied all expectations...
On the page was an adorably drawn silver hamster.
The hamster wore a signature silver battle suit and held a miniature model of Tokyo Tower—clearly a chibi fan-style cartoon of Lord Silver Swallow.
The hamster had a cold expression as it raised the tower model high, tilting its head up and opening its tiny mouth like it was figuring out how to devour the whole Tokyo Tower.
Next to the drawing was a line of cutesy, girlish Japanese text:
"Silver Baby is super hungry! Silver Baby loves to gnaw on iron! If Silver Baby gets too hungry, he might even eat the Tokyo Tower! Watch out, Japanese people!"
This instantly blew up the livestream chat across the internet.
—「吞银ちゃんかわい!!!!!!(Silver-chan is so cute!!!!!)」
—「吞银ちゃんなら、東京タワーだって食べちゃってもいいのよ!!!(If it’s Silver-chan, it’s totally fine to eat Tokyo Tower!!!)」
—「ええっ!?黒蛹と吞銀がそんなに仲良しだなんて!マジでビックリしたわ!(Whaaat?! Black Cocoon and Silver are that close?! Totally shocked!)」
The Japanese viewers were loving it. But far away across the East China Sea, Silver Swallow remained completely unaware. Who knows what he'd think once he opened social media and saw this trending topic.
In the helicopter, the er was stunned into silence, forgetting how to this scene.
Back in the Kawasaki Ramen Shop, Su Zimai let out a snort and nearly sprayed her tea into her ramen.
She set down the cup, wiped her mouth with the back of her hand, coughed twice, and scoffed,
"This big fluttering moth never runs out of tricks. If I were Silver Swallow, I’d die from the sheer embarrassment."
Ke Qirui chuckled lightly,
"Didn't know he knew Silver Swallow. Quite the network he’s got."
Xu Sanyan turned his eyes from the TV and said blandly,
"Gay guys are disgusting."
On TV, Black Cocoon was still lounging comfortably on the railing, enjoying the night breeze.
He said seriously,
"I’ll leave this masterpiece here. I’m sure it’ll soon become a new landmark. But I have one request: put up a sign next to my art, and on it, write in big bold letters:
'Blue Arc and dogs not allowed to enter.'"
With that, he gently placed the drawing on a table inside the exhibition platform using his Binding restraints.
Then, like a broken puppet on stage, he staggered along the railing and suddenly leaned back—falling into the lights of Tokyo below.
The er gasped. The cameraman frantically lowered the camera—
but Black Cocoon was already gone from view.
After that night, the entire nation of Japan knew the name of this sudden, mysterious Esper: “Black Cocoon.”
And by association, Silver Swallow—who previously had only moderate popularity in Japan—also became a household name thanks to that adorable hamster.
Once out of the camera’s frame, Black Cocoon immediately descended into Shiba Park, using Binding restraints to hang from a thick tree branch.
He remained transparent, completely still beneath a beautiful ginkgo tree.
From his restraints, he pulled out a backup phone and made a call, pressing it to his ear.
"Who is it?" came Gu Qiye’s voice.
"It’s me, Mr. Blue Arc," Black Cocoon said playfully.
Gu Qiye went silent for a moment, then replied coldly,
"Blue Arc and dogs not allowed, huh? Then here’s my rule: Black Cocoon and dogs are not allowed to call me."
And with that, he hung up.
Like coaxing a sulking child, Black Cocoon called again—
and was immediately hung up on.
On the fifth try, Gu Qiye finally picked up.
"What do you want?" he asked. "To share info on the White Crow Brigade? Or maybe to brag about stealing the spotlight across all of Japan, and take jabs at Silver Swallow and me while you're at it?"
"No, no..." Black Cocoon replied. "I’m calling to give you a suggestion."
"What kind of suggestion?"
"I suggest you to the Tokyo Exorcist Association immediately."
"Why?" Gu Qiye asked, confused.
"Because you’ll meet someone unexpected." Black Cocoon said, keeping his tone mysterious.
"...Someone unexpected?" Gu Qiye murmured from the other end.
"Exactly, someone unexpected."
With that, Black Cocoon ended the call—adding silently to himself:
"Isn’t your sister the most unexpected person of all?"

Inside the ramen shop, the news broadcast ended once Black Cocoon vanished from the screen.
With no more common topic, the four simply ate their steaming ramen in silence.
After shamelessly letting Ke Qirui foot the bill, Ji Minghuan finished the shop’s signature pork bone ramen, stretched with a satisfied groan,
Then said a quick goodbye to his sister and walked out without looking back.
In the bustling shop, Ke Qirui glanced at the Binding Restraint Clone’s back until it passed through the curtain at the entrance.
Then she asked Su Zimai,
"Should we have Sanyan follow him?"
Su Zimai said nothing.
She’d already revealed her identity, but Gu Wenyu remained unmoved. Even if he really was Blue Arc, maybe… he just didn’t care about her.
"Leave it to you, Sanyan," Ke Qirui said.
Su Zimai lowered her head and quietly instructed,
"Don’t let my brother find out."
"You think I need reminders like that?"
Xu Sanyan bit down on a cigarette and replied flatly.
He flipped up the collar of his trench coat and slowly left the warmly lit ramen shop, stepping into the night.
Xu Sanyan looked ahead at Ji Minghuan’s retreating figure—
the slender youth was looking down at his phone, weaving through the neon-lit streets.
On the bright streets, girls in kimonos and wooden clogs sang nursery rhymes as they clacked along.
Before he realized it, a finely crafted umbrella appeared in Xu Sanyan’s right hand.
The canopy, frame, and shaft were all black. The handle was a deep crimson, like a rose blooming in the night.
At the moment, the umbrella was closed, tightly wrapped.
He pointed the tip toward the ground, and suddenly, a slit opened. White mist puffed out, slowly condensing into tiny mist figures.
The mist figures scattered in all directions, disappearing into the night streets.
Xu Sanyan himself leaned against an alley wall, pulled a cigarette from his pack, and lit it with a flick.
He took a deep drag, then tossed it into the trash, scattering a few glowing embers.
But what he didn’t notice…
While he was tracking "Gu Wenyu’s" Binding Restraint Clone, Black Cocoon was silently hanging upside down above him in transparent form, watching his every move without making a sound.
"So Tianqu is the umbrella... This umbrella emits special smoke, which forms scouts to recon enemy movements..."
Black Cocoon remained motionless, making mental notes.
Moments later, a ringtone rang from Xu Sanyan’s trench coat pocket.
With a cigarette still in his mouth, he irritably pulled out his phone and answered,
"What is it?"
Ke Qirui’s voice came through the line:
"I just got word from the Association... They said Blue Arc has checked in. Want to go meet him?"
"You sure it’s Blue Arc?"
"I sent you the photo."
Xu Sanyan minimized the call and opened the photo Ke Qirui sent.
In it, a figure in a blue-metallic battle suit and helmet was captured mid-arrival at the Association—
the air around them still crackled faintly with residual electric arcs.
Xu Sanyan snorted.
"Then what’s the point of me tracking this 'Gu Wenyu' kid?"
"What’s he doing now?"
"I sent a mist scout. He went straight back to the hotel and took the elevator up."
Ke Qirui paused.
"Don’t bother tracking him anymore."
"Got it," Xu Sanyan replied casually.
"Honestly, I thought it was ridiculous the moment I saw him at the ramen shop. That fragile little thing—Blue Arc? Please."
"Well, we did get played by that fluttering moth... See you at the Association building. Hanging up now."
Ke Qirui sighed in self-deprecation and ended the call.
"What a pain."
Xu Sanyan muttered, closed the umbrella, and walked out of the alley toward the Japanese Exorcist Association building.
Black Cocoon followed from above at a safe distance, maintaining invisibility.
Clearly, Ji Minghuan wasn’t going to miss the moment when Su Zimai and Gu Qiye reunited.
It was bound to be… entertaining.
And so the two moved—
one walking through the street, the other above in silent pursuit—
slowly vanishing into the neon-lit jungle.
