Chapter 333
Kiriel spoke in an excited voice. “Y-you mean I can finally become a landlord?!”
“That should be more than enough,” Do-Jun replied, handing Kiriel a bank statement.
Kiriel had been diligently saving his money. Whenever he gathered a significant amount, he entrusted it to Do-Jun. Now, the total had exceeded 10 billion won. It was the combined total of his lottery winnings and the rewards he received for catching petty criminals in the community.
Kiriel had almost forgotten about his dream of becoming a landlord, but was now overflowing with excitement.

Kiriel returned to the real estate office he had visited previously.
The realtor recognized him immediately; after all, Kiriel had a face one wouldn’t easily forget.
“Oh, you’re back!” she exclaimed.
She recalled that Kiriel had left without purchasing the last time, saying he didn’t have enough funds but would reach out later.
She sighed regretfully as she handed him a cup of coffee and said, “Unfortunately, the property you were interested in has already been sold. I do have another listing, but it’s a lot pricier than what you were considering before.”
“How much is it?” Kiriel asked.
“The building itself is 10 billion won. After factoring in brokerage fees and taxes, you’ll need a few extra billion. But this is a rare find. The building has seven floors, including the basement, and every unit is fully occupied. The monthly rental income alone exceeds 60 million won.”
The realtor then handed Kiriel a detailing the building’s current tenants—businesses, rental agreements, and lease durations. It housed a bathhouse, restaurants, an arcade, and more.

“Cough, cough!
Y-you bought a building?!” Hakase asked, shocked.
“Yup. See this? It’s called a real estate register. It’s proof of ownership,” Kiriel said.
Hakase nearly choked on his water when he heard the news. He grabbed the document from Kiriel’s hand, and sure enough, Kiriel’s name was boldly listed in the owner’s section. The recorded transaction price was an astonishing 10 billion won.
“Are you jealous, lizard?” Kiriel asked with a slight grin.
To be honest, he was. Hakase was extremely jealous. A building owner could live off rental income without lifting a finger, never having to work for the rest of their lives. Who wouldn’t be jealous? However, he refused to show it. It would feel like admitting defeat.
“Anyway, I’m heading out,” Kiriel said.
“To check out your building?”
“Heh.” With a smug shrug, Kiriel strutted out of the food stall.

Kim Hyung-Kwon, who operated the arcade located in Kiriel’s newly purchased building, felt uneasy upon hearing that the new landlord would be visiting. Business had been slow this month, and he couldn’t afford to pay the rent. The previous landlord had been ruthless, quick to demand eviction as soon as the rent was overdue.
“If you don’t like my rules, then leave!”
Those were the words of a true slumlord.
Kim Hyung-Kwon feared the new landlord would be no different. After all, most building owners were naturally solely focused on recovering their investments, bleeding tenants dry in the process.
He’s here!
The arcade door swung open, and a man with an unmistakable presence of a person of superior status entered.
Kim Hyung-Kwon forced a polite smile and greeted Kiriel, who reached into his pocket and pulled out a card. It was a Free Play Card—one that gave unlimited access to all arcade machines.
“Hey, human. Can I really use this?” Kiriel asked.
“Huh? Ah... of course! You are the landlord, after all.”
Kiriel had been a regular at this arcade. He often visited nearly every day, spending an hour playing a street fighting game. Satisfied with the answer, he smiled and plopped down in front of the arcade machine.
“Uh, excuse me, sir,” Kim Hyung-Kwon said nervously.
“What?”
“There’s something I’d like to ask...”
“Go ahead.”
“I’m really sorry, but would it be okay if I paid this month’s rent a little late? I’m terribly sorry to ask this.”
“Do as you like.”
“It’s just that the economy’s been so terrib—wait, what?” Kim Hyung-Kwon blinked in disbelief. Kiriel’s response was just that flat and indifferent.
The previous landlord would’ve thrown a fit, shouting “Absolutely not!” at the mere mention of a rent delay. This reaction was the complete opposite.
“Uh... then I’ll make sure to pay on time next month,” Kim Hyung-Kwon said.
“Sure, sure, do whatever works for you. Oh, by the way, I have a question.”
“Yes! Ask me anything.”
Kiriel pulled out his phone and showed the website for the game he was playing: Tekken 2—Now Released!
“This,” he said.
“Oh, Tekken 2? What about it, sir?”
“It was released last month. Why don’t you have it yet?”
“Well, I had planned to order it on release day, but the machine is incredibly expensive... It costs 6 million won.”
Kiriel’s eyes widened in shock. “Wait... So you’re telling me you’re not planning to bring in Tekken 2?”
“N-no, I plan to... just once I have the funds...”
Kiriel’s eyes narrowed as he sensed a "danger.” An arcade without Tekken 2? That was like taiyaki without red bean filling. Trembling with frustration, Kiriel opened his banking app and transferred 18 million won to Kim Hyung-Kwon.
“There. Buy three of them with that. Got it?” he snapped.
“Y-you’re buying them for me?!”
“
Hmph
. This is nothing for a landlord.”
***
An explosion sounded inside the D-rank Fissure, Cockatrice’s Nest. Kiriel’s arrows struck true, effortlessly slaughtering the Cockatrices. After the hunt, he extracted mana stones from each defeated monster. He rarely bothered hunting in Earth’s Fissures, but today, he needed mana stones for a special purpose.
The bathhouse sign in his newly acquired building read:
“Mana Bath
“Excellent for fatigue recovery and mana replenishment.
“Fully submerging enhances effects.”
Kiriel ground the D-rank mana stones into powder and poured them into the water tank. Now, the entire bathhouse’s water was infused with mana, greatly boosting its restorative effects.
“S-sir...?” The bathhouse owner gawked.
The new landlord had suddenly appeared, examined the facility, and without warning, infused the water with mana stones—something only high-end spas could afford. Ordinary neighborhood bathhouses could never dream of such a luxury.
“If you run out of mana stones, call me. And from now on, I bathe for free. Because I’m the landlord.” Kiriel shot a sharp look at the owner. “You got a problem with that?”
“N-no! Not at all, sir!”
All the bathhouse owner could think of was,
Why was he being so generous?
Of course, Kiriel had no idea what was going through the bathhouse owner’s mind. He simply grinned from ear to ear, relishing the thought of enjoying free baths forever.
***
The commercial building was bustling with customers. The once worn-down structure, its exterior rusted and aged, had clearly undergone renovations, now looking pristine both inside and out. Over the past few days, Kiriel had spent more than 800 million won on the upgrades, but he didn’t mind in the slightest.
His phone dinged and buzzed with messages, saying, “Good morning, sir! I’ve sent the rent payment. Thank you!”
Right, today is rent day,
Kiriel thought, and checked his account balance.
A staggering 80 million won had been deposited. Originally, it should have been 60 million, but some tenants had paid more, for some reason. Kiriel scratched his head, then realized that at some point his steps had come to a halt in front of the local community center.
***
Fried Cockatrice was a very sought-after dish. Its meat, richer in flavor and superior in texture compared to regular chicken, was a sought-after delicacy.
For some reason, Kiriel had given Hakase an abundance of Cockatrice meat, so today, he was preparing a special dish. The oil crackled as the meat fried to a perfect golden brown.
Byeol gulped in anticipation. Hakase chuckled, dipping a freshly fried piece into a sweet sauce before placing it on a plate for her. Byeol eagerly took a bite—sweet, tangy sauce, juices bursting with each chew, meat so tender it melted on her tongue.
“Ahhh, this is so dewicious!” she said with a sigh.
Cockatrice meat was a rare item, so it wasn’t easy to get a taste of it. Grinning broadly, Hakase put serious effort into frying the meat to the best of his ability, planning to pack some for Izaas. Just imagining his delighted reaction to seeing Cockatrice meat for dinner filled him with energy.
Kiriel entered the food stall. He chuckled, watching Byeol happily munch on the Cockatrice he had caught. Her face was smeared with sauce. Without saying a word, he pulled out a wet tissue, wiped her mouth clean, and gave her cheek a few affectionate kisses.
“Hey.” He greeted Hakase.
“Hey.”
After the quick exchange of greetings, Kiriel sat down next to Byeol. Then, as if it was the most natural thing, he reached out and picked up a piece of fried Cockatrice from her plate.
“Say ‘ah’,” he said to Byeol.
“Ahh.”
But just as Byeol opened her mouth, Kiriel popped the piece into his own mouth instead. Byeol blinked in confusion at the lack of taste, turning to glare at Kiriel. Meanwhile, Kiriel chewed with exaggerated delight, savoring every bite as if he were eating the most delicious food in the world.
“That was mine...
sniff, sob.
” Tears welled in Byeol’s eyes.
Hakase’s hand moved like lightning to smack Kiriel on the top of his head, causing him to shout out in surprise. With a sigh, Hakase placed two extra pieces of Cockatrice on Byeol’s plate, who was instantly pacified and smiled happily.
“If the King had seen that, you’d be facing execution,” Hakase said.
Pouting, Kiriel picked up another piece of Cockatrice and munched on it.
“By the way, where did you even get all this Cockatrice?” Hakase asked Kiriel.
“I caught them myself.”
“What for?”
Kiriel explained how one of his tenants, who ran a bathhouse in his building, had been struggling financially and couldn’t afford rent. So, he had helped out.
“So, you bought a Tekken 2 machine for them out of your own pocket?” Hakase asked, flabbergasted.
“Yeah. As a landlord, I couldn’t allow an arcade without Tekken 2 in my building. Besides, landlords get to play for free.”
The perks of being a landlord were beyond imagination. Not just the arcade, but he could also use the bathhouse, restaurants, and other tenant-run businesses in his building for free.
Grinning from ear to ear, Kiriel nodded in satisfaction. “So this is why people want to be landlords. I get it now.”
Hakase was speechless. How on earth did someone like this become a landlord?
“Kiriel,” he said.
“Yeah?”
“You collected the rent, right?”
“Of course.”
“How much did you get?”
“80 million.”
Hakase’s hands froze mid-cooking. “You get that every month...?”
“Yeah. But since the community center was running a charity drive for underprivileged families, I donated the money.” Kiriel shrugged like it was nothing.
