My Girlfriend Is a Cello Player-Chapter 95: Gan Yanyu's Rival (2)

Chapter 95: Gan Yanyu's Rival Part 2
Lin Tian couldn't help but chuckle. He was only teasing her, after all. In reality, if someone saw a guy in a black robe wielding a giant scythe, they'd probably just shrug it off—or even think he looked kind of cool. But imagine encountering two figures instead—one dressed in white, the other in black, both holding chains. One would be tall and gaunt, with a pale face, a long tongue lolling out as he grinned eerily, while the other would be short, stocky, and menacing with a dark complexion.
Now that—that was guaranteed to send chills down anyone's spine. That was Zhonghua horror at its finest.
The West had turned Halloween into a fun, family-friendly holiday long ago. But no one dared to mess around on the fifteenth day of the seventh lunar month—the Zhonghua Ghost Festival. Even so, Lin Tian was just messing with Gan Yanyu. With Halloween still two months away, it made sense to stock up on some spooky props for themed videos. Who knows? Maybe they could even dress Gan Yanyu up in a cosplay outfit later.
---
After spending the entire afternoon shopping, Lin Tian and Gan Yanyu returned home with everything they needed, arranging for delivery straight to the café. Surprisingly, despite buying quite a bit, their total expenses came to just over eight thousand yuan—most of which went toward tables and sofas.
The real expense, however, remained hidden from Gan Yanyu. Lin Tian had already ordered top-of-the-line audio equipment, lighting rigs, and filming gear online—a purchase that exceeded one hundred thousand yuan. Naturally, he kept this detail to himself, unwilling to explain where such funds had come from.
Once all the items arrived, they headed back to the old café. Gan Yanyu unlocked the door, pushing it open to reveal the dusty interior. Though it had only been a month since either of them last visited, the place felt abandoned—as though untouched for years. The air inside was cold and lifeless.
Flipping the circuit breaker restored power, flooding the café with bright light. Lin Tian approached the counter and brushed his hand across its surface—only to find it coated in dust.
"We'll need to clean first," Gan Yanyu announced, hands on her hips as she surveyed the room.
"Agreed," Lin Tian replied.
"There aren't enough cleaning supplies here. I'll head back home and grab more. In the meantime, can you move these tables around?"
"No problem."
As soon as Gan Yanyu left, Lin Tian rolled up his sleeves and got to work. His main task was rearranging the scattered tables to create space near the counter. This area would serve as a makeshift studio for future video shoots—a far cry from the cramped living room he currently used.
Soon, the delivery team began arriving with their purchases, including Lin Tian's piano. Once everything was unloaded and set in place, the workers nodded politely before leaving. Lin Tian resumed moving furniture, humming to himself as he worked.
Just then, a rhythmic click-clack of footsteps echoed through the café.
"Is anyone here?" called a crisp female voice.
Lin Tian glanced up. Standing in the doorway was a striking golden-haired girl with delicate features: a small, refined face, a high nose bridge, and piercing blue eyes. She wore an elaborate Lolita-style dress complete with a matching hat.
Foreigner? Lin Tian thought idly. Pretty, though. She'd probably do well giving foot massages.
"Sorry, the café isn't open," he said curtly, returning to his work.
"I'm not here for coffee. I'm looking for someone."
"You've got the wrong place. This shop hasn't opened in a month."
"The address I found leads here."
"You must be mistaken."
"No." Her tone hardened.
Lin Tian sighed inwardly, regretting not hanging a sign outside earlier that read something like, "No Foreigners or Dogs Allowed." Growing impatient, he finally looked up again.
The girl crossed her arms, frowning. "I'm looking for Gan Yanyu. She used to work here. Do you know her?"
"Hmm?" Lin Tian paused, studying her carefully. "Who are you?"
Her lips curled into a smug smile. "So, you do know Gan Yanyu." Without waiting for permission, she strode confidently into the café. Only then did Lin Tian notice the cello strapped to her back.
A friend of Gan Yanyu's?
Without hesitation, the girl plopped herself onto one of the tables, glancing around disdainfully. "This is where Gan Yanyu worked? It reeks of poverty."
"If you don't mind," Lin Tian said coolly, placing a firm hand on the table, "get off my ‘poverty-stricken' table."
His irritation simmered beneath the surface. Had she been anyone else—someone less obviously foreign and female—she'd already have been tossed out the door. But alas, those were two powerful deterrents stacked against him.
"Wait a second," she said suddenly, lowering her gaze to meet his face. After a moment, recognition dawned in her eyes. "You're Lin Tian?"
"Excuse me?"
"It is you!" Her sharp blue eyes narrowed dangerously. "How dare you delete my WeChat. You're incredibly rude, you know."
Her tone turned icy, sending a chill through the air.
"Oh," Lin Tian muttered, realization hitting him like a ton of bricks. No wonder she'd seemed oddly familiar since stepping foot in the café. Now it all made sense—this was the same idiot who'd tried adding him yesterday.
"Let me get straight to the point," she declared, crossing her legs and resting her stiletto heel mere inches from Lin Tian's face. Looking down at him imperiously, she announced:
"My name is Nanali Christine, sole heiress of the prestigious English cellist family—the Christines. I'm here today to challenge that insufferable Gan Yanyu."
