My Wife is an Evil Dragon-Chapter 3

Chapter 3

Chapter 3: Release on the Spot
“Who are you…?”
Shopkeeper Xu, who had just finished a transaction, pushed back the popped-out cash drawer.
She scanned Xia Li’s instant noodles while giving the little girl in front of the shelves a strange look.
“My little sister,”
Xia Li casually made up an excuse.
He tapped his forehead with his index finger, gesturing to the other person and saying, “She had a fever when she was little, and there’s something wrong with her brain.”
Shopkeeper Xu nodded and didn’t say anything more.
The little girl did look a bit slow-witted, and her attitude towards this man was very much in line with how a younger sister would treat her older brother.
During their conversation, Lucia quickly picked out the goods she liked.
Her small body held a full embrace, and she stretched out her arms, placing everything on the counter.
There were six items in total.
“I’ve already paid for this.” Lucia pointed to the round bread.
Shopkeeper Xu and Xia Li both nodded.
As agreed, Lucia only picked out five items.
However, these five items really surprised Xia Li.
Croissants, pineapple buns, toast…
“Do you only recognize bread? That’s why you took all bread?” Xia Li couldn’t help but say.
Immediately, he saw two other suspicious items lying on the counter.
“What are you doing with a kitchen knife and a bath towel?” Xia Li asked, pointing at the two items.
“One is for self-defense.”
“What about the other one?”
“The other one is also for self-defense.”
With that, Lucia began to show Xia Li her proud intelligence.
She tore open the kitchen knife’s packaging—there was no packaging at all, just a thin piece of cardboard sandwiched between the blades. Lucia easily pulled it open.
Then she unfolded the bath towel embroidered with little yellow ducks and draped it over her shoulders.
Because the bath towel was the largest size, and Lucia’s body was very small, the towel wrapped around her had a kind of otherworldly cloak and robe feel.
Sword in one hand, robe draped over the other.
She really looked like a female swordsman from Azure Continent.
An abstract version.
“…How much?”
Xia Li turned his head, and the convenience store clerk had already finished scanning the goods.
“A total of 48.5 yuan,” the clerk said with a slight smile.
Xia Li took out the money and paid.
The packaging of these two items had been opened, so he had to buy them. It just so happened that Xia Li planned to cook at home recently, and he happened to be missing a kitchen knife.
Coming out of the convenience store, Xia Li carried the instant noodles in one hand and held an umbrella in the other.
Lucia silently followed behind Xia Li.
Her primary task now was to eat, but breaking through the defensive magic of the bread was no easy feat.
In the end, the evil dragon, with her extraordinary wisdom, tore open the bread’s packaging with her teeth.
“It looks like very tough magic, but in reality, you just need to concentrate your strength on one point, and it’s easy to break through.”
Lucia nodded, agreeing with this magic very much.
Perhaps, if Xia Li hadn’t paid for her, this defensive magic would have been difficult to break through?
Xia Li: “…”
He looked down at the bread packaging that had been gnawed to pieces by Lucia’s fangs, speechless for a moment.
But thinking about it, it made sense. Lucia had no modern knowledge or concepts in her mind. Anything that she found strange and inexplicable would be understood as ‘magic’ by her.
It was quite easy to fool her.
The rain on the street was still drizzling, and the early autumn wind gave Xia Li goosebumps.
The paving bricks on the sidewalk were probably quite old, and stepping on them was bumpy. If one wasn’t careful, they would step on a bomb filled with stinky water.
Xia Li had only worn slippers when he went out, and the black mud on his feet made him want to curse.
Lucia, who was walking beside him, had a calm expression on her face. She didn’t seem to be affected by this terrible weather at all.
Xia Li remembered that the dragon race was naturally strong, and this guy was indeed not afraid of the cold.
Although there was no magic on Earth, Lucia’s own physique wouldn’t change…
Could it be that she was actually very strong?
At this moment, Lucia had no idea what bad ideas the brave hero beside her was thinking about. She was draped in a yellow bath towel with little yellow ducks, concentrating on the food in her hand.
After a few bites, the bread was finished by her abyssal mouth, and she used her fangs to bite open the next one.
Xia Li felt that it was necessary to teach this silly dragon the correct way to open things.
But he also felt that they were about to separate, so there was no need for that.
There were plenty of kind police uncles at the police station who could teach her life skills.
“Hey.”
Arriving at the intersection, Xia Li suddenly stopped.
The girl who was gnawing on the bread stopped with him and looked at him in confusion.
“My name is not ‘Hey’…”
“Alright, alright, great Silver Dragon Queen Lucia Sivana,” Xia Li said in a coaxing tone, “let’s part ways here.”
He pointed to the street across the intersection: “You go over there.”
“See that blue and white wall over there? You go in, and tell the humans there that you’re lost, and they’ll figure something out for you.”
◈◈◈
Lucia looked over there suspiciously, then shook her head and said,
“Humans wouldn’t be so kind. They would only draw my blood for alchemy and grind my fangs into sharp weapons.”
“The humans here won’t,” Xia Li assured her. “This is a society ruled by law. There won’t be any bloody violence.”
The kind of scene Lucia described was indeed common in Azure Continent.
The point of slaying dragons, besides driving them out of human territory, was to extract value from their bodies.
Some alchemy powers would even issue bounties, buying the life of a dragon from the Hunter’s Guild.
For example, the silver dragon in front of Xia Li. Her head was worth tens of thousands of gold coins in Azure Continent.
“Absolutely impossible.”
Lucia chewed on the bread, her tone as casual as ever.
Humans had craved dragon flesh and blood for thousands of years. How could they suddenly change their ways and start legislating to protect dragons?
Lucia didn’t believe it at all. Xia Li must be trying to trick her into going over there to be killed.
“…”
Listening to Lucia’s firm denial and the wary look on her face, Xia Li actually felt a little sorry for this evil dragon for a moment.
Lucia now was exactly the same as Xia Li when he had first transmigrated to the other world.
Confused and helpless, his entire being filled with fear of this unknown world.
However, when Xia Li had arrived, there were people to welcome him. They told him about the world, taught him how to survive, and trained him in swordsmanship.
But Lucia seemed to have nothing.
She even encountered her nemesis right from the start… It was a catastrophic transmigration.
No, no, he couldn’t be deceived by this evil dragon’s appearance.
Just because a dragon had turned into a little girl, it didn’t mean she had suddenly reformed and even eradicated the wildness in her bones, right?
Xia Li was in a trance for a while, recalling the silver dragon he had once seen, breathing dragon flames and leveling an entire mountain range with its own power.
His teacher had once taught him to never show mercy to dragons.
“Give me the kitchen knife.”
Xia Li hung the shopping bag with the instant noodles on his wrist and stretched out his hand towards Lucia.
Lucia dodged back, the expression on her face seeming to say ‘Do you think I’m stupid?’.
Obviously, this evil dragon wasn’t foolish enough to hand over her only weapon.
Xia Li couldn’t force her.
Anyway, if he couldn’t handle her, there were others who could.
“You go over there, enter that building, and there will be people who will take care of your three meals a day… If you’re willing to believe it, go. If not, just be a stray dragon!” Xia Li pointed to the police station.
Although Lucia didn’t know what a ‘stray dragon’ was, she became curious when she heard there was food over there.
After all, two pieces of bread really couldn’t fill her stomach. This amount was just enough to whet a dragon’s appetite.
After weighing her options, the proud dragon decided that dying in battle was more dignified than starving to death.
Lucia charged forward with the kitchen knife in hand.
Xia Li stood there and watched her go.
This guy didn’t even know how to look at traffic lights. Fortunately, the intersection was green now, otherwise Lucia would have lost before she even started.
But…
He felt like something was wrong.
Looking at Lucia charging towards the police station with a kitchen knife, Xia Li felt like he had overlooked something.
Wait…
He had paid for the kitchen knife.
Lucia charging into the police station with a kitchen knife would undoubtedly be apprehended immediately.
Then, when the police uncle asked: Where did you get the kitchen knife?
Answer: Xia Li bought it for me.
Police uncle: Who told you to bring a kitchen knife here?
Answer: Xia Li told me to.
Police uncle: Do you have any family?
Answer: I have an enemy named Xia Li.
Police uncle: Who else do you know?
Answer: Xia Li…
Then they would compare Lucia’s fingerprints and face with the population information database.
Good heavens, no match found.
Then they would check Xia Li…
Hmm, social outcast, unemployed vagrant, and missing for a week.
This couldn’t be explained…
Lucia had no household registration information. Xia Li might even be mistaken for a human trafficker.
Then, even if he went to the convenience store to get a witness, there would not only be witnesses, but also surveillance footage proving his shady relationship with Lucia.
He was absolutely doomed.
Now, rather than waiting for the police uncle to come knocking, it was better to stop Lucia from going in the first place.
Xia Li suddenly came back to his senses and shouted towards the intersection.
“Hey, Lucia, wait!!”
