My Wife is an Evil Dragon-Chapter 9

Chapter 9

Chapter 9: You’re a Good Person
“Earth?”
“… Is this the name of the continent beneath our feet?”
Lucia looked at the inky black sky, then at Xia Li’s face.
The soft, warm light in the living room illuminated the balcony, outlining Xia Li’s face with sharp contours, making him look somewhat solemn.
After Lucia’s question, Xia Li was silent for a moment before speaking.
“It’s not the name of this continent. The continent we’re on now is called the Asian continent. ‘Earth’ is a planet… you can think of it as the name of this world.”
“The name of the world?”
Lucia still didn’t quite understand.
She had never heard many of the words Xia Li was using.
However, Lucia could be certain of one thing.
This was definitely not the Azure Continent she knew.
In this world, she couldn’t see magic circles, couldn’t sense magic. Not only was the color of the sky different, but even the air flowing around her felt unfamiliar.
Thinking about it this way, Lucia quickly realized why she saw so many strange and bizarre things on the streets, why even a small piece of bread was protected by defensive magic, why Brave Hero Xia Li’s home was so small…
It all made sense now.
Because this was a brand new world.
All the knowledge and experiences she had accumulated in her life had to be refreshed here.
There was a sense of absurdity, feeling abandoned by everything she knew.
“Sigh.”
The wind blowing in from outside was a bit chilly. Lucia took a deep breath and shrank her neck.
Xia Li saw all these emotions in her eyes.
The girl in the cold wind had a dazed look on her face, like a newborn cub just opening its eyes. Facing this vast world beyond her imagination, her eyes were particularly helpless.
Looking at such a girl, Xia Li found it hard to reconcile her with the image of an evil dragon.
He couldn’t help but wonder, was the evil of the evil dragon purely ‘evil’, or was it the ‘nature’ of all species?
After all, not all races have intelligence and emotions as developed as humans. Dragons weren’t intelligent beings from the start. Just like humans evolved from ‘apes’ to ‘humans’, dragons also needed time to evolve.
During this evolution, wouldn’t it be a bit biased to define their behavior simply as ‘evil’?
However, these were all matters of the Azure Continent.
Xia Li was on Earth now, and he could redefine things with his own eyes.
Coming back to his senses, Xia Li sighed.
“Let’s go inside.” He patted Lucia’s frail shoulder.
Back in the living room.
Lucia lowered her head and sat back on the soft sofa.
She still needed to digest what Xia Li had just said.
Whether on Azure Continent or Earth, the biggest problem for Lucia remained the lack of magic.
Lucia had never thought that her body would be stuck in human form.
She couldn’t even imagine how she would survive without magic.
Relying on these human hands?
But these delicate arms couldn’t even defeat a wild ox. She had been directly weakened from the top of the food chain to the very bottom. Unless she ate grass every meal, she definitely wouldn’t be able to hunt with her current abilities.
Could it be… that she would have to rely on Xia Li to support her for the rest of her life?
Lucia secretly glanced at Xia Li, who was watching TV.
To be fair, Xia Li’s appearance was definitely outstanding among human males, fully meeting the aesthetic standards of the Dragon Race.
Lucia tried to imagine a future where she would wake up to this face every day.
Hmm, it didn’t seem so bad.
At worst, she could just give him a couple more dragon babies…
Even in the worst-case scenario.
The food in this world was delicious, the sofa beneath her was soft, and there was a TV chicken with ever-changing images…
And, and, Brave Hero Xia Li even made her bed, and that bed looked so fun.
Lucia constantly adjusted her emotions.
Dragons were optimistic creatures.
Those giant dragons captured by the Empire would still sing loudly even with chains around their necks. Even if their horns and wings were cut off, they wouldn’t care and would just go back to sleep in their lairs.
Apart from their love for shiny things, dragons rarely showed greed.
Because they were easily satisfied, dragons rarely experienced major ups and downs in their lives.
“I’ve transmigrated…”
“And now I have to live as a human for the rest of my life.”
◈◈◈
Lucia looked at her slender white arms, feeling dejected for a while.
She hadn’t even had time to say goodbye to her friends and family, hadn’t had time to take one last look at her beloved lair.
She hadn’t even had time to steal the beautiful gold coins from that hateful Empire’s treasury, hadn’t had time to breathe dragon fire at those humans who wanted to take her territory.
How did she transmigrate just like that?
But, thinking about it from another perspective…
“I actually transmigrated!”
Lucia’s eyes flickered.
This was super cool, wasn’t it?!
The magic of interdimensional teleportation—even if all the human civilizations on Azure Continent combined their knowledge, they wouldn’t be able to teleport a giant dragon to another world!
Wasn’t this a one in a billion chance that she had encountered?!
Lucia’s eyes sparkled, the despair and sorrow in her eyes vanished, replaced by a look of excitement.
“Xia Li, does this mean I can’t turn back into a dragon anymore?”
Lucia tilted her head and asked Xia Li.
Xia Li turned his head.
He thought this girl would cry.
He had even prepared tissues for Lucia.
He thought he would witness a giant dragon in human form sobbing, but it seemed he would be disappointed.
Wait…
Why was this silly dragon happy?
What was she happy about??
She couldn’t go back, had to bid farewell to her former world and family, yet she was still smiling foolishly???
“Well… there’s no magic here, so you probably can’t turn back into dragon form.”
Xia Li was silently shocked by Lucia’s optimism, but he still nodded calmly.
“Then, does that mean I can taste all kinds of delicious food with my human body?” Lucia asked excitedly.
She had to admit that a dragon’s body was indeed troublesome at times.
For example, dragons couldn’t taste the delicate desserts in the human world.
Even if a whole cake was thrown into a dragon’s mouth, it would be like chewing peas, with no taste at all.
But if she used her current human mouth to taste food…
Lucia couldn’t even imagine how amazing it would be.
“That’s right. There are many delicacies in this world that you’ve never seen before. What I just gave you was just entry-level. There are even more advanced things later.” Xia Li said in an affirmative tone.
Xia Li wasn’t exaggerating.
If just a bucket of instant noodles could impress this silly dragon, not to mention all the delicacies in the world, just the food from a single province in China would be enough to send this silly dragon to heaven.
“Really? Besides those curly noodles that were so hot, what else is there?”
“There are many!” Xia Li said proudly, “Hot pot, barbecue, wraps, spicy hotchpotch, roast duck…”
Xia Li casually listed the dishes, and the more he spoke, the hungrier he became.
He glanced at the time on his phone. It was not even 8 p.m. yet.
After being poisoned by the food in the other world for three years, Xia Li had been craving Earth’s delicacies for a long time.
After some calculations, considering the food budget in his pocket, Xia Li gave up the idea of ordering takeout.
He glanced at Lucia beside him. She was lowering her head, counting on her fingers and muttering.
“I know about barbecue. We often slap wild boars and oxen unconscious and roast them on a fire…
But what are spicy hotchpotch and wraps? Is hot pot putting fire in a pot to eat?”
Lucia had never been so focused on something. She seriously imagined the food Xia Li described.
Xia Li was thinking that he should go out tomorrow.
Not only to buy some daily necessities for Lucia, but also to exchange that gold coin in his pocket for cash as soon as possible.
Thinking of this, Xia Li suddenly said.
“I’ll take you to eat tomorrow.”
“Really?!” Lucia’s thoughts returned, she couldn’t help but swallow her saliva and smiled at Xia Li.
“You’re such a good person!”
