Myriad Heavens: Who Let Him Into the Horror Movie?-Chapter 44 : He Was a Sorcerer of the Evil Sect

Chapter 44

Chapter 44: He Was a Sorcerer of the Evil Sect
Li Zhen set up a simple altar in the room prepared by Zheng Nan.
The Red-Eyed Bat was placed at the top, below it a square table, and on the table lay an incense burner, candles, and various ritual offerings that Li Zhen required.
When facing a Head-Descending Master, he too needed to make preparations to break the curse.
Aside from killing the caster directly, there were generally two ways to undo a Head-Descending Curse.
The first was like Master Wan Madama — a righteous practitioner who relied on righteous cultivation to forcibly break the curse.
Alternatively, a Head-Descending Master could also set up an altar and confront the caster head-on with their own mastery.
The second way was to fight evil with evil, using pre-prepared sorcery to counter the curse — a method favored by many who preferred not to engage in direct confrontation.
Li Zhen intended to use the second method.
The spells that Nai Mi employed typically required obtaining personal items such as a victim’s hair.
Li Zhen, who inherited the teachings of the Ma Gusu lineage, did not need such materials.
Within the small booklet, there was actually only one recorded method to remove a Head-Descending Curse.
That method required obtaining the blood of the Head-Descending Master who had cast the curse.
This was precisely why Li Zhen sought Nai Mi’s blood.
Beside Li Zhen lay several frogs and other necessary items — all things he had asked Zheng Nan to buy overnight.
While he busied himself before the altar, Zheng Nan was outside anxiously making phone calls.
“Hey, Ah Keung! You bastard, get over here quick! I’m not joking! Nai Mi! He’s really here! I told you, didn’t I? Don’t believe me? Then wait and see!”
“Ah Ken, drunk again?! Damn it! Nai Mi’s here! Get here quick… You can’t come? Then you might as well wait to die!”
“You’re on your way? Good, good, good! Ah Bang, you’re the fastest! Ah Mei came with you? You told her already? There’s someone coming to help? That’s great!”
After several phone calls, Zheng Nan paced around the living room, then picked up the phone again to urge his friends to prepare heavy weapons.
Though firearms were difficult to obtain, other deadly tools were plenty, and he knew how to get them.
About ten minutes later, the door was knocked upon.
Zheng Nan jogged over to open it, and upon seeing the man outside, he was overjoyed. “Ah Bang! You finally came! I almost got killed by Nai Mi! You don’t know how dangerous it was!”
“It’s really true that Nai Mi came after you to Hong Kong Island?” the man called Ah Bang asked with concern.
“Who else could it be? Come in.” Zheng Nan nervously glanced outside before shutting the door tightly.
Besides Cheung Kam-Keung (Ah Bang) and his girlfriend Ah Mei, there was also a woman whom Zheng Nan did not recognize.
The woman was tall and elegant, exuding the aura of a capable businesswoman.
Cheung Kam-Keung introduced, “This is Sister Mei, Ah Mei’s client. She overheard our call earlier and said she’s also a Head-Descending Master — maybe she can help us.”
“That’s wonderful!” Zheng Nan enthusiastically extended his right hand toward her. “With Master Li and Sister Mei working together, Nai Mi won’t stand a chance no matter how vicious he is.”
Sister Mei reached out and gently shook his hand, smiling. “My name is He Mei. I’m from Nanyang, now a businesswoman. I know a bit about Head-Descending Sorcery. May I meet this Master Li?”
“Of course, of course.” Zheng Nan went to knock on Li Zhen’s door.
There was no response from inside.
Just as Zheng Nan moved closer to the door, He Mei’s expression suddenly changed — but she quickly concealed it.
“Master Li might be performing a ritual,” Zheng Nan explained as he turned back. “I just went out to buy a lot of things for him.”
Curious, He Mei asked, “What things did you buy?”
Zheng Nan replied, “Some pig’s blood, a few frogs — it took quite an effort to find them. Oh, and I added a bit of my own blood too.”
He was about to knock again when He Mei suddenly said, “I’m sorry, but I just remembered something urgent I need to take care of. Ah Mei, come with me.”
Before anyone could react, she grabbed the bewildered Ah Mei and hurried out, as though something in that room deeply unsettled her.
Zheng Nan watched her retreating figure vanish beyond the doorway, puzzled, then turned to Cheung Kam-Keung. “Didn’t you say she came to help? Why’d she just leave like that?”
Cheung Kam-Keung also looked confused. “I don’t know either. Maybe something really came up. I’ll ask her later.”
About a minute later, Li Zhen opened the door, looking slightly weary.
Zheng Nan pointed to Cheung Kam-Keung and introduced, “This is one of my friends who went to Nanyang with me. His name’s Cheung Kam-Keung — Nai Mi’s sister had her eyes on him.”
So this was the guy from the original film — the one who did a good deed and still got betrayed?
Li Zhen glanced at Cheung Kam-Keung and shook his hand.
“Just call me Ah Bang, Master Li.”
A chilling cold spread from their handshake through Cheung Kam-Keung’s entire body. It felt as though he was touching not a human, but some cold-blooded creature.
Remembering what He Mei had said on the way about the terrifying nature of Head-Descending Masters, a shiver ran through him.
Zheng Nan continued, “Ah Bang invited a Head-Descending Master to help, but she suddenly said she had something urgent and left.”
Li Zhen’s eyes flickered. “What’s her name?”
Cheung Kam-Keung answered, “We all call her Sister Mei.”
“Notify me when she returns.” With that brief instruction, Li Zhen went back into the room.
He recalled that there had indeed been a female Head-Descending Master in the movie — it must have been this Sister Mei.
Her cultivation in Head-Descending Sorcery was rather average. She hadn’t even fought yet and was already gravely injured just by Nai Mi’s overwhelming aura.
Li Zhen had always been interested in conversing with other Head-Descending Masters — even ordinary ones. Unfortunately, this one had left.
Earlier, he had been so immersed in his ritual that he hadn’t noticed what was happening outside.
——
As soon as she reached downstairs, He Mei broke into a run.
Ah Mei, who was being dragged along, noticed her panic. “Sister Mei, what’s wrong? Why are you so scared?”
After running several streets, He Mei finally stopped, panting heavily.
Catching her breath, she said gravely to the bewildered Ah Mei, “That Master Li is a sorcerer of the Evil Sect! Those Head-Descending Masters who kill without batting an eye — they’re all from the Evil Sect. I told you about them on the way here.”
Ah Mei’s eyes widened. “That… Master Li is a sorcerer of the Evil Sect? That terrifying?”
He Mei shook her head. “You’re not a Head-Descending Master, so you can’t feel that kind of horror. But trust me — he’s terrifying, truly terrifying. At the very least, I’m certain he’s killed before.”
“To be honest, that Nai Mi you mentioned might not even be as frightening as him.”
Ah Mei rubbed her chilled arms, anxiety written on her face. “But it wasn’t even Ah Bang’s fault to begin with. Now Nai Mi’s come to Hong Kong Island, and there’s this terrifying Head-Descending Master here too…”
He Mei thought for a moment. “From what your friend Ah Nan said, this Master Li appeared at his door all of a sudden. A Head-Descending Master that powerful showing up uninvited — I’m worried something bad might happen.”
Ah Mei asked helplessly, “Then what should we do, Sister Mei?”
After thinking for a while, He Mei whispered, “I suggest… we try to talk to that Nai Mi first.”
“He used to be a righteous Head-Descending Master, after all. Maybe we can persuade him to turn back — pull him away from the demonic path.”
“That way, no need for fighting or killing. Everything could be resolved.”
“For now, we know very little. What I can confirm is that your friend is indeed under a powerful curse. But whether this Master Li has already fought Nai Mi — and what happened between them — only he himself knows.”
