Myriad Heavens: Who Let Him Into the Horror Movie?-Chapter 49 : The Secret Revealed by He Mei’s Little Ghost

Chapter 49

Chapter 49: The Secret Revealed by He Mei’s Little Ghost
A loud bang echoed as the red car slammed into a roadside tree.
Two loafers smoking on the street were nearly hit. Still shaken, they cursed at He Mei’s car in anger.
He Mei, her head covered in blood, pulled open the driver’s door and stepped out. Her expression was blank as she wandered toward a nearby alley.
Seeing her blood-soaked face and her dazed, almost possessed look, the two men dared not block her way.
No one knew how long she walked before she suddenly shuddered, her eyes regaining clarity.
Only then did she realize she was standing in a small, secluded grove by a greenbelt.
In her memory, she had been in the car one moment—and the next, she was here. Her eyes turned vacant again.
Hearing faint footsteps behind her, she turned around—and saw a young man with a sinister bat perched on his shoulder.
The streetlight was dim, but she still saw his face clearly.
“It’s you…” He Mei’s expression changed drastically as she slowly backed away.
She remembered that bat vividly—especially its pair of blood-red eyes. The aura of the man before her was also familiar.
She had felt this terrifying presence once before—at Zheng Nan’s home.
“Head-Descending Master? You’re He Mei? I heard you came but didn’t dare see me?” Li Zhen said with a faint smile. “Because I’m a so-called evil Head-Descending Master?”
His appearance matched Zheng Nan’s description closely; she could not have mistaken him.
He Mei’s tone grew tense. “You’re not chasing Nai Mi, but instead came for me. Aren’t you afraid he’ll escape?”
“Nai Mi won’t escape. I’m more afraid you’ll run.” Li Zhen stopped, giving her a long, scrutinizing look. “I’m very curious—why exactly are you doing all this?”
“Nai Mi wanted to kill, and you saved someone, yet turned around to side with him. That’s… quite puzzling.”
He Mei wiped the blood from her face without answering.
“Even if you die, I’ll still learn what I want to know.” Li Zhen’s words were like a devil’s voice from the depths of hell—cold enough to chill the heart.
He Mei’s face turned pale. “You really are an evil Head-Descending Master!”
“You think I’m evil, so you didn’t dare meet me? Then why did you dare meet Nai Mi? Am I more terrifying than him?” Li Zhen said calmly. “You won’t have many chances to speak—better cherish them.”
He Mei gave a cold snort. “I just want to kill you. According to your own words, that’s what you’d call ‘upholding heaven’s justice.’ There’s nothing more to say.”
Li Zhen couldn’t help but find it amusing. “Upholding heaven’s justice? Kill me? You—”
Suddenly, the red-eyed bat on his shoulder let out a piercing screech.
The sound seemed to echo directly within the soul—no external force could block it.
At the very instant she heard it, He Mei instinctively covered her ears, but the sound still pierced into her mind, stabbing into the depths of her soul like something tangible.
At the same time, a sharp, miserable scream rose from behind Li Zhen.
“Little Ghost?”
Li Zhen turned and saw a faint figure of a Little Ghost writhing on the ground.
The restless red-eyed bat lunged forward, pouncing on it.
Li Zhen did not stop it.
Without warning, he drew his Palm-Leaf Whip and lashed it several times around himself.
Another scream broke out—another Little Ghost had been struck down, rolling on the ground in pain.
Li Zhen never showed mercy to anything that attacked him. His raised hand brought down several fierce lashes.
The whip did little to Evil Spirits, but to these Little Ghosts, each strike tore out a wail of agony.
The Little Ghost rolled madly, crying out in pain, “Don’t hit me! Don’t hit me! I’m useful… I know… I know about Mommy… I know everything…”
Li Zhen halted the whip midair, and the red-eyed bat that had been about to strike again stopped as he gestured.
“What do you know?” Li Zhen asked cautiously.
“I know everything… everything…” the Little Ghost wailed.
Its pliant nature made Li Zhen suspicious—was it trying to trick him?
He raised his whip again, hesitating whether to beat it a bit more first.
Terrified, the Little Ghost cried out, “I know Mommy went to find Nai Mi! I know everything about her! I know why she wants to kill you!”
Beaten so harshly, much of its Yin energy had dissipated—it could no longer maintain its ghostly form.
A pale-faced, scar-covered Little Ghost appeared trembling before Li Zhen.
“Interesting.” Li Zhen lowered his whip. “Didn’t He Mei keep saying she wanted to kill me because I’m an evil Head-Descending Master?”
“It’s not just that!” the Little Ghost stammered. “Mommy went to Nanyang and asked a Master to divine her fortune. The Master said Mommy would meet a great opportunity this year—and if she seized it, she could soar to the heavens.”
Li Zhen tilted his head, curious. “And what does that have to do with me?”
Glancing nervously at the suffering He Mei nearby, the Little Ghost hurriedly continued, “Mommy’s faction of Head-Descending Masters has many taboos. If one breaks them, they’ll suffer backlash—or even fall into demonic corruption.”
“She… she kept her vows for years, yet her cultivation barely progressed. It made her restless. She often asked us what to do, and we suggested many things—but nothing worked.”
“Then she suddenly heard news about the evil Head-Descending Master Nai Mi, and decided this was her chance.”
“Mommy has a secret method—if she personally kills a sinful, evil Head-Descending Master, her cultivation would break through its barrier and make great progress in the arts of Head-Descending.”
“So that’s how it is.” Li Zhen seemed intrigued by the secret method but didn’t pursue it. “She went to Zheng Nan’s house and met me—realized I was also an ‘evil’ Head-Descending Master, and assumed I was part of her opportunity?”
The Little Ghost nodded quickly. “Mommy thought so—how else could it be such a coincidence?”
“She met with Nai Mi to join forces with him to kill me first?”
“This is Hong Kong Island. You’re far more dangerous than Nai Mi. Without him, no one could handle you—the terrifying evil Head-Descending Master. Mommy definitely couldn’t defeat you; she was terrified of you.”
“If she killed me, she wasn’t afraid she couldn’t deal with Nai Mi afterward?”
“She planned to wait until you two were both badly wounded—then she’d strike Nai Mi. Mommy had a feeling that only after killing you both would her success be complete.”
“So she wanted to play the fisherman who profits when the sandpiper and clam fight? Between me and Nai Mi, she couldn’t handle either of us alone—but if we fought, she’d have her chance? Truly… a genius.” Li Zhen’s words sounded almost like praise—but were laced with mockery.
The Little Ghost gave a sycophantic smile. “That’s exactly Mommy’s plan. She didn’t expect to meet Master Li though. She was overconfident, foolish to go against you. Many of us brothers and sisters told her not to.”
Li Zhen looked at He Mei in puzzlement. “She dresses with taste—looks like someone shrewd in business. How could she do something so foolish?”
“As a businesswoman, doesn’t she see that the profit and cost here are completely disproportionate?”
