Three months after the war ended.
Takigakure Village, Land of Waterfalls.
"Hey, Kazuyama, you're not planning to go back to Konoha?"
"Minato Namikaze is already on his way here personally."
"He says he's taking your whole family back."
Yahiko and Kazuyama sat by the riverbank fishing. Well—Yahiko was fishing, holding both rods, while Kazuyama lay off to the side resting, looking completely at ease.
Kazuyama didn't care at all about what Yahiko said. He even let out a dismissive snort.
"What's he coming here for?"
"I've done everything I needed to do. Can't I enjoy myself for once?"
"As for going back to the village, we'll talk about that later. Even if Pakura and I don't return, Senko and Michihito have to. We're still ninja—missions are missions."
Yahiko shook his head helplessly at that, though his admiration for Kazuyama had long reached the point of worship.
Ever since the war ended, Kazuyama hadn't stopped working. According to him, he'd been dragging Old Man Six Paths around the entire world.
Now, dozens of crystal pillars had appeared throughout the ninja world—completely transparent, nearly invisible if you didn't look closely, each one soaring into the sky without a visible end.
After discussing it with the Sage, Kazuyama named them: Celestial Pillars.
These pillars were created entirely through Kazuyama's combination of Crystal Release and Transparent Escape Technique within Yin–Yang Release. Following the Sage's designated layout, he created seventy-two of them.
After that, the Sage infused each pillar with his soul power, activating them. Centered around Kazuyama's Transparent Escape Technique, they released energy that enveloped the entire world.
"Kazuyama, can those Celestial Pillars you made really stop those outsiders from invading our world?"
Though he'd asked it aloud back then, Yahiko still had doubts. How could one person influence an entire planet? Even if that person was Kazuyama—someone now comparable to the Sage of the Six Paths—the idea was simply too hard to believe.
"Of course. The old man and I already worked it out. We're using Transparent Escape to disguise the entire planet."
"My Transparent Escape can hide presence, conceal form, block sensory ninjutsu. Even if it's the Ōtsutsuki Clan, they still rely on dōjutsu."
"They won't see a thing. As long as the old man and I still exist, and the pillars stay intact, nothing will happen."
Kazuyama spoke confidently as he took one of the rods from Yahiko and casually cast it, starting another relaxed round of fishing.
Once his strength surpassed the Sage of the Six Paths, he too gained the ability to persist after death—his soul remaining intact. With that, his spiritual power could keep the Celestial Pillars running indefinitely.
Seeing how confident he was, Yahiko let out a laugh. He remembered how Kazuyama had been when they first met—just as bold, just as certain, and just as good at completely overwhelming them.
"Knew you two would be fishing here."
"Hehehe, Kazuyama, your son and daughter are about to tear my lab apart. Aren't you going to do something about it?"
A new fishing rod suddenly planted itself by the river—not a cheap wooden one like theirs, but a refined, high-end rod.
Orochimaru arrived with a gloomy voice full of resignation as he sat down beside Kazuyama.
Kazuyama gave him a helpless glance. As for his situation... well, he seemed strangely calm about it.
"Sensei, don't start. If you hadn't taken Kimimaro and Byakuren back to your lab, would they even be there?"
"Now Michihito drags those two out to spar every single day. My house is practically falling apart."
"But what's this about taking Senko as your disciple? Aren't you afraid Tsunade will come after you? Senko is her student."
Yes—Orochimaru wanted Senko as his disciple. Not for ninjutsu, but for science.
No one had expected this at all. Especially since her father, Kazuyama, had zero talent in research—he'd been a nightmare to teach back in the day.
At the mention of Senko, Orochimaru immediately perked up, his tone growing enthusiastic.
"I overlooked it before because I was focused on experiments. But now I realize it was my loss."
"Senko is an exceptional talent in science. So what if she's Tsunade's disciple? We can teach her separately."
"Tsunade handles Medical Ninjutsu. I handle science. No conflict."
The more Orochimaru spoke, the brighter his eyes shone. Kazuyama chuckled.
To think his daughter would end up on a scientific path—he never saw that coming. Setting down his fishing rod, he cast a glance toward the village.
"You two keep fishing. I'm heading back for dinner."
Then he triggered Flying Thunder God and vanished, leaving Yahiko and Orochimaru exchanging speechless looks before shaking their heads in unison.
...
Back home, Kazuyama saw Pakura's freshly prepared meal—and Minato Namikaze and Tsunade sitting in his yard.
"I've gotta ask," he said, "is it really appropriate for your restaurant to relocate to someone else's home?"
"Hmph. What's inappropriate about it? Kid, isn't it about time you returned to the village? It's been three months. Are you not coming back?"
"Kazuyama brat, where is that teacher of yours, Orochimaru? He took my disciple. Does he want to die?"
Pakura watched Tsunade fuming and Minato looking annoyed. She set the dishes on the table and walked over to Kazuyama, who naturally pulled her into his arms and said calmly:
"I'm not going back. I'm living in Takigakure from now on."
"As for my teacher? He's here in the village. Go find him if you want. Though he said he's only teaching Senko in scientific fields. He's not interfering in anything else."
Minato sighed the moment he heard Kazuyama say he wasn't returning.
"I knew you'd say that."
"Well, the war's over, and all the villages have renewed their peace agreements."
"With you as the new Sage, I doubt any village is eager to start another conflict."
"I honestly don't know what the Sage of the Six Paths saw in you to choose you as the new Sage."
"Right, Moonlight Sage?"
Moonlight Sage—Kazuyama Gekkō.
"HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!"
"What can I say? Old Six Paths has already stepped down."
"But 'Moonlight Sage' doesn't sound that great. I think 'Ghost Sage' fits me better!"
Kazuyama laughed loudly. His title wasn't self-given—it had been declared publicly by the Sage of the Six Paths himself in front of all the Kage and all the Jinchūriki.
Once the seventy-two Celestial Pillars were established, no one dared voice objections. Kazuyama smoothly ascended into the ranks of the Sages.
"Ah..."
"Pakura, why the sigh? Did I say something wrong?"
"Nothing wrong. But if we're talking about Sage titles... I do have a pretty good suggestion."
Oh?
A new suggestion? Now that sounded interesting.
Kazuyama looked at Pakura expectantly.
Pakura gave him a teasing glance, then calmly spoke five words:
"Not becoming a human Sage..."
Kazuyama: ? ?
