Ben, Nojiko, Sanji, and Nami sprinted forward. There was a deafening explosion echoing in the distance which was followed by a flash of light that lit up the night sky.
“There’s a battle up ahead,” Nami said as her eyes narrowed.
“And it sounds like a big one,” Nojiko added. She thought of her sisters.
“It has to be Oars,” Ben muttered grimly. Ben thought the girls were fighting him, an ancient giant.
Before they could advance further, a shadow darted from the left. A figure lunged at Ben with the twin swords flashing in the moonlight.
Ben reacted at the last possible moment and twisted aside as the blades slashed down. He dodged the attack.
“Ben,” Nojiko and Nami cried out in unison.
Sanji’s eyes widened. “What the hell is that?” he asked.
The figure stepped into the light. They saw Lola, a pink pig humanoid. She was wearing a black dress. Her eyes burned with rage.
“You killed him,” she screamed as she raised her swords high.
“Lola,” he said. He thought he did kill Absalom and Lola did love him.
“I’ll kill you,” Lola roared. Her voice cracked with grief and fury. She turned her glare toward Nami. “And you, I thought you were my friend! But you helped kill him,” she added.
Nojiko stepped forward. “Leave him alone,” Nojiko said.
Ben shook his head firmly. “No. I’ll take care of her. You go on ahead and help the others, they’ll need you against Oars. I’ll be right behind,” he said.
Sanji clenched his fists, his cigarette burning low. “There are ladies in danger. I don’t have time to waste here,” he said as he dashed forward.
“Ben, I’m staying,” Nami said. She looked at Lola, her heart was aching. She had called her a friend.
Ben turned to her. “I can beat her,” he said as he opened his wings.
“I know,” Nami replied softly. “But I need to do this. Besides,” she said as she smirked faintly. “I’m not part of your crew, so you can’t order me around,” she added.
Ben exhaled. “Sure,” he replied.
Nojiko smiled knowingly. “You might not be part of the crew, sis… but you’re definitely part of the harem,” she said.
“What?!” Nami exclaimed as her face flushed red.
Nojiko chuckled as she turned and ran after Sanji. “I’ll leave this one to you two,” she said.
Ben and Nami stood side by side. They looked at Lola as she raised her blades again. Ben thought he could have asked Nojiko to beat her, however he could beat her quicker.
“Lola, you are a zombie, your real body will find love,” Ben said.
“He was my love,” Lola said as she came forward.
“Demon Beam,” Ben said as he focused his energy in his hand. He raised his hand and shot a one -handed attack. The beam hit Lola. There was a small explosion and black smoke clouds could be seen. Lola dashed forward. There were scratches and light burn marks on her skin.
“I will kill you,” Lola said as she swung her sword down.
“Demon Kick,” Ben said as he channeled his energy into his leg. His foot shot out like a cannon and knocked Lola’s sword clean from her grip. Without hesitation, he leapt upward and punched her face.
Lola stumbled back. Her eyes burned with fury. “This will not stop me! He was my love,” he said.
Nami stepped forward. Her voice was filled with compassion. “Lola, I told you to follow your heart. But he wasn’t the right man for you,” he said.
“He was,” Lola screamed.
“Demon’s Abyssal Arrows,” Ben said as ethereal, fiery arrows materialised around him and shot forward in a storm. They struck Lola, tearing through her clothes and knocking the remaining blade from her hand.
She staggered forward. “I will avenge him,” she said.
“Thunderbolt Tempo,” Nami shouted as she raised her Perfect Clima-Tact. She remembered Sanji gave it to her. Dark clouds swirled overhead and lightning crackled before a bolt shot down and struck Lola. The impact sent her flying.
Ben raised his hand. “Demon’s Abyssal Shackles,” he said as chains of black metal erupted from the palm of his hand. They clamped onto Lola’s wrists and ankles. They burned with searing heat.
Nami’s eyes softened. “I’m sorry, Lola. I saw you as a friend. I wanted you to be happy but this life, this path it isn’t yours,” she said.
“You will find happiness. You’ll find someone worthy of you,” he said as he pulled a cube of salt from his pocket and hurled it toward her.
Lola froze, her eyes wide. “You saw me as a friend?” she asked.
“I did,” Nami said softly, stepping closer. She reached out and touched Lola’s trembling hand.
Lola swallowed the salt, her body convulsing violently. There were tears welling in her eyes. “Thank you and I’m sorry I couldn’t save you,” she said as her body shuddered. Then the shadow inside her tore free and writhed upward before vanishing into the night.
Nami exhaled as she lowered her staff. She turned to Ben. “Were you making that up? About her finding happiness?” she asked.
Ben shook his head, a faint smile tugging at his lips. “No. She’ll meet someone,” she said.
Nami rolled her eyes, though a small smile crept across her face. “Whatever you say,” she said.
“We need to get going,” Ben said as he looked ahead. Nami nodded.
Meanwhile, Sanji and Nojiko stormed the battlefield. He saw Oars whose face was turned into stone. He saw the girls were bleeding. “You will pay for this,” he shouted. “Collier,” Sanji said as he kicked Oars leg.
Oars took the hit and stumbled. “Who are you?” he asked.
“The idiot cook is here,” Zoro said.
“Sanji,” Chopper and Usopp cried.
“Cloud Surge,” Nojiko shouted as she raised her hands as dense storm clouds swirled into existence above Oars, blotting out the moonlight.
“These clouds,” Kalifa muttered as she looked around.
Kaya’s lips curved into a smile. “It can only mean one thing,” she said.
“Lightning Barrage,” Nojiko said as the storm clouds crackled violently, and bolts of lightning rained down. They struck Oars from every angle. The giant roared as electricity coursed through his massive frame.
“Nojiko,” Vivi called out.
“I’m here as well,” Nojiko replied firmly. She looked at the girls bleeding and looking worse. “I won’t let him get away,” she said.
“Is Nami okay?” Vivi asked quickly.
“She’s fine,” Nojiko answered. “Ben gave her a wake-up kiss. They’re on their way,” she replied.
“Kiss?!” Sanji exploded as flames erupted from his body. He remembered they kissed. He thought Ben.
“Sanji,” Usopp said nervously.
“That was annoying,” Oars growled as smoke rose from his scorched body. His massive hand tore a chunk of wall from a nearby building. “You did that,” he said as he hurled the debris at Nojiko.
Nojiko’s body shimmered, and dissolved into clouds. The wall passed harmlessly through her as she reformed.
Oars’s eyes widened. “How did you do that?” he asked.
Before he could react further, Zoro used Franky`s back and launched himself into the air. “We’re still here,” he said as he crouched low mid-air. His three swords aligned horizontally. “Crab Grab,” he added. With a sudden burst of speed, Zoro clamped his blades together like a guillotine, slicing clean through Oars’s left horn. The massive fragment crashed to the ground.
At that moment, Alvida launched herself into the air as she sprinted up Oars’s arm. Her mace gleamed black as she coated it in Armament Haki. “Armament Hardening Kanabo Swing,” she said as she brought the weapon down with devastating force.
The blow connected with Oars’s other horn and shattered it into fragments that rained down like stone hail.
“They cut the horns,” Usopp shouted.
“They are strong,” Maya said. She looked at Eros Edge.
“Almost like equals,” Franky said.
“My horns,” Oars said. He swung his colossal fist and punched Zoro. The swordsman was sent flying and crashed into the ground with bone-jarring force.
Alvida landed lightly as she looked at Oars. She saw his arms.
“You noticed it too,” Robin said calmly.
“Noticed?” Marianne asked.
Alvida nodded. “Yes, something is changing within him,” she replied.
